Tom! There’s nothing wrong in “loving” your job, it’s just great to see and witness the enthusiasm you have for your beef heard. They are a real credit to you and your family! The born, raised, fed and sold on the farm is a massive incentive to correct farming techniques - you know their whole history. Brilliant video.
Watching your vlogs has made me appreciate the hard work and care that goes into your cows. I am trying to buy local more now and aware of where my food comes from
I couldn’t be a beef farmer because I’d get way too attached to every cow and come slaughter time I wouldn’t be able to go through with it blowing my profits completely but in saying that I’m glad your cows have a good life. Unfortunately there are so many farms that don’t treat their animals with kindness and that’s why I like you and your farm, The Pemberton name stands as a pillar and a role model! Thank you for what you do!
Great philosophy of farming. I buy my beef from a farm where the beef is born and raised. They also get small amounts of concentrates to help with growth, this yields a better beef. The beer processor for this farm is across the street so that works out well, no stressful transport. Keep up the good work.
When I worked on a farm , we always left out our young stock until around Xmas/New Year. One day the farm manager and my self were walking through the wood with two bags of cake, calling for the animals. Sure enough they came charging through the trees all trying to get to the troughs first. When they caught up with us they went round us, except the bull, he went through us, not even bothering to slow down. Something I remember to this day. 50yrs on.
I'm not against beef or dairy farming, heck I quite like beef burgers, but what I am against is animals being trapped in tiny pens. I'm glad you keep your cattle in open areas.
If we don't eat them, they'll cease to exist. Also we have sharp canine teeth as well as blunt teeth. We are omnivores and almost every scientist would agree with me.
I always find it sad that animals get slaughtered. But if I was buying your beef I would know that they would have had an amazing life compared to other beefers !
In Australia the majority of all our beefers are paddock raised, we dont need feed lots the east coast of australia is the perfect place for dairy OR beef and where I live have some really good mix and it is amazing how well looked after the cattle are nothing but the best for them. The farmers KNOW that without the cows then they wouldn't have $ coming in, simple.
@@krystalwilliams3238 that's the same with all of us that raise cattle my cows don't live in paddocks on concrete in confinement they are raised in big meadows of grass that are fertilized sprayed for weeds and rotationally grazed on different fields throughout the year then eat hay and some grains throughout the winter they have places to beat the cold and can go and come as they want all of us that produce beef care and take care of our animals first we go out in the cold snow and ice rain lightning or wind animals come first
Would you say you had an amazing life if someone fed & watered you then one day when they can no longer use you they send you to a slaughterhouse to be murdered ?
Awww they were running after you when you were driving away. Lol, they wanted ALL of the food. They tried hard to keep up lol. Cows are funny. I enjoy watching these videos so much. And you are so so good with your animals. Kind and respectful. Love 💗 that too!
At last the beef thank you Tom,another great video. That is one happy herd of cattle which does you proud. I for one can comment on the flavour and quality of the beef is excellent my wife cooked it and it melted in the mouth. will be coming up soon for more.
Love your videos. I have watched most of the. Very informative. Hard work Tom but you are smashing it. Well done. Keep up the great work. I’ve learnt so much watching you.
Good video. Can see your proud of the traceability at the end of the video, well done. What are the named sires you use for the dairy cows that you want to use as replacements ?
Love seeing the beef stock tom i was laughing at the cow trying to steal your kawasaki trying its hardest to get in the cab epic video once again keep it up tom 👍
I am not a waguu fan. But I love the charolais. I am doing a free range program with some big ass charolais. I am feeding about 15 lbs a days barley and appropriate supplement on top of about 10 acres pre head of good hard grass. I farm near Calgary Alberta Canada. And my goal is to direct market 400 free range beef a year . My customers will be able to pre order any breed of steer they want and I will finish it with a predetermined margin.
Great job! Great that you don't take shortcuts to produce an inferior cheaper product. I wish I was on the other side of the Atlantic so I could shop your beef. Grass fed is what will make US healthier! And the animals live a much healthier, happier life then all the stockyard finished beef in the USA
Very good video Tom, you are showing genuine enthusiasm for your stock, that can only be a good thing. Do you produce all the beef for your shop or is some bought in? Thanks for sharing.
There is nothing "sad" about knowing your stock, it's a sign of a good cowman. I'd have to take those doors off the Kawasaki, they don't actually keep the wind out do they? Thank you for sharing.
Tom on your dairy herd is there a cross that you like the most or a breed you always use like breeding the Holstein cows to brown swiss and then crossing them to Ayrshire? Beef calves look good. Where we are we don't get a lot of rain but we have good hard grass and we just shipped 4 red angus heifers that failed to breed and they where 20 months and avg. 1200lbs and that was on grass, but they had a stocking rate of 1head to 20acres.
AndersonCattleCo. Oh wow, in spring I can have 3 cows to an acre and it’s still growing past them. I would say I like anything with abut more size on it tbh and size I mean width. More shape
My wife and I are binging on your videos as we have just found them (and subscribed) They are so interesting. We live in Surrey and our daughter lives in Scotland so every time we visit her, we will visit you to. We have a large motorhome with a big fridge, so we want to stock up on your meat. Therefore, please could you do a short video of your produce in the shop, so that we can see what we can buy (and support you) N.B. My wife always wanted to marry a farmer, but she ended up with a baker, well I had to earn a crust...sorry.
glad your showing the interest its not sad that you know that. Charolais is what we predominantly had through the family slaughter house that i worked at, had the occasional Belgium blue. Do you ever have those as beef cattle?
Got a few questions for ya there Tom 1. Are ya not concerned Neptune has too much work to do that he could miss a few, especially over such a large area 2. Those beef cattle are heifers ya 3. Are the Charolais out of dairy cows, if so how did you overcome the issue with calving difficulty 4. What are they killing out at(talkin dead weight, grade and body condition score) Just lookin at things as a sucker farmer drifting between calving Charolais and limousines out of Simmental off dairy cows
The OddLad 1- I just keep feeding Neptune with 3/4 at a time. Some will be 6 months in calf in that field 2. They are out of cows 3. They calve really well we used a bull called “Booster” from cogent. Not had to many issue 4. 165-175 a side dead weight, I know we have had U2 R2 but I’m not 100% on average dead weights tbh Hope this helps 😀
Aaah true cupboard love from the beef cattle. Cattle are curious. Thought one was keen to be a vlog Star or take over filming. Either that or Tom came close to being pushed over while thesteers searched for more treats. They want to know what’s up. Young cattle are also playful and enjoy a game or two plus a run after a vehicle following the food source. just to get one up on their mates.
It’s such a shame more people don’t understand or don’t care where their food comes from and also want it as cheap as possible it’s because of that there are slaughter houses out there that are just in the business of putting as much through as possible, I for one am happy to pay that little bit more for quality local meat that’s been cared for and well raised you can’t beat local quality produce!
Does anyone else watch these cow videos and wonder what they’re thinking. I just couldn’t help thinking why do you always make us run for food Tom. Also Tom it’s not sad at all that you know all that info just shows you care for your livestock.
Nice one Tom we use an angus on our heifers and british friesien on the cows all about making life easy on both human and animal do you finish all of them or do they go as stores?
I really like that they are free ranged, most farmers don’t do that. Just what gets me is that they still must die in the end. I do respect what you are doing just I hope one day the consumption of animals won’t be such a common thing like it is now.
Do you ship to the USA I will buy your beef anytime. You have a reason to be proud show off those beautiful animals I would brag myself. Great job to you and your family great stewards of the land .God bless
Do you have red polls over there my bull has finally put my hereford and jersey into calf red poll are also known for producing small calves cant wait to see what the little ones look like watch those cows tom they will eat your seat if given half a chance
Great video my favourite so far. A beef farmer myself and would almost always buy them type of CHX bullocks at roughly 2 years old and finish them off for slaughter. Interested in how and when u plan to sell them or will ye fatten them yourself ?
Helps with putting pounds on them also they look good. Handling them make them easier to take care of if they don't know you will be hard to move them around.
Just curious as to why you used the breed of the two darker in the beef herd if they take 32 months to finish where as the Charolais only 24, just curios the the reasons?🤙🏽 loved the video though the beef are looking fab
Mr Tom, do you know much about wagyu. I'm sure that people pay premium prices for their meat in Londons restaurants. I remember reading about a herd up here in Scotland. I agree with the charolais is good for putting on weight gain.

Did the cow at 6:13 have a leg problem? The black and white one?
I noticed that was lifting back leg there maybe a bit of mud in there
I was thinking the same thing
Cattle are looking well tom! Nice to see your managing to keep them out for so long this year. Pitty I'm so far away, would be nice to visit the shop.
