Wow! Just wow! Well I'm trying to think of a way to word this properly? For me it wouldn't matter what golfer you got on your show from now on. You have just hit the pinnacle of golf podcasts. Sir Nick is my all time golfing hero. You could get Tiger on, and it still wouldn't top this. A true true legend of the game, and when he speaks, you listen with every ounce of concentration you have. Well done guys for this. Thank you so much...

I think a lot of golfers even then liked nick for being so committed to what he needed to do at the cost of not being the blue eyed boy of the press. I remember him saying back in his peak on a BBC interview for him it was about trying his maximum to compete and win, when he couldn’t he would be done. But he could look back and know he had given his all and not gone through the motions

Absolutely brilliant - dropped Sir Nick home once - wow what a golf room full of memorabilia and two drum kits 👍 had a lovely red 911 in his newly built garage and one piece of felt fell on it he went mad - absolute perfectionist - that was back in the 80s - played at Frilford Heath and Staunton Sands with him - amazing ball striker every one pured! Great video chaps👍

Different class. I watched Nick Faldo at the Muirfield Open. His long iron play was on another level. As he pointed out he was hitting drives 260 to 270 and firing the approach shots to under 15 feet every time. I watched from the green and to see him as a spec in the distance and the ball come thumping down on the green is a sight I will never forget. All done without a range finder just Fanny Suneson on the bag.

Think he always got an unfair rap (and selective coverage) off the press back in the day tbh. That said, he's stated that in hindsight he would have got to know his fellow pros, e.g. Greg Norman, better than he did. What a legend though, love the guy

Great interview, lads. That was really interesting what Faldo said at the end about the fact that the tour pros usually only play the smae courses on the tour circuit and how businessmen will have played more of the top courses in the world than the tour pros. Also his perspective on a golf course without the grandstands in place was really interesting.

One of the most inspiring things I remember from the 80s and 90s was the Nick Faldo charge. There was a point in the middle of that era (probably '90 when I was 18) when you knew it was coming - and it did. He was the Ian Botham of golf for lads of my generation: more controlled and disciplined than Beefy, of course, but with the same champion's flare. He was simply magnificent.

@@bagpussmacfarlan9008 I even did the same thing as him as a kid. One ball would be Seve and the other would be Faldo, my imagination would then take me to the last round of The Open and the final two ball and I’d then play a game between the two for the Claret Jug.

I grew up watching those last 6 holes on Sundays at the dinner table with my dad. I wish I realized the greatness I was witnessing back then. My dad would tell me the stories of Lee Trevino and the characters of the day. I remember being a Langer fan because of the way he dressed and Seve because of his swagger. Tom Watson and that whole era just rocked. I still watch golf on Sundays and miss my dad. There's still nothing like the last afternoon of a major.

My era as well, listening to the St Andrews open on the Saturday, Faldo V Norman, that round was the perfect illustration of how small margins impact golf. I think a ten shot swing where nicks putts that didn’t drop Friday, did and vice versa for Greg. His record in the Ryder cup, legend

What a superb interview with Sir Nick, this interview shows a different side of him and the wisdom he has and knowledge he has is brilliant.
Think this is one of the best interviews I seen and really congrats on you both for getting a legend of the game to give up him time and talk about the great game we all love. Sir Nick i always thought he was up himself but after listing to him over the last hour change my mind a lot.

Nick is from teenage golfing era, absolute ICON! always enjoyed watching him, it was always edge of the seat watching him and Seve going stroke per stroke.
Golfers in this era has been self taught , Nick tells a story of owning 1 long iron given to him by an uncle, as a child the rest we all know!

Brilliant interview. I was glued from start to finish. Sir Nick does have a great personality too which made it a very easy listen. But I would loved to of heard about the swing rebuild he went through and how bad things had got before he decided enough is enough I need to rebuild. But non the less, great podcast.
