Hey, a good way to avoid spilling is to unscrew the drain bolt first, place the pan under it (considering that the coolant will go out strong, so considering the angle) and THEN get the radiator cap loose. In this way you can take out the drain Bolt without worries.

After owning a 2002 and 2003 6th Gen VFR, I finally got me a 5th Gen Viffer because of you Billmaa. I'll be going thru your vids this weekend. Thanks for the knowledge. Or at least the laughs.

I have a 2001 VFR 996 Super Hawk I love the bike I just purchased it it does have an aftermarket exhaust exhaust concept m i g and I get a pop pop pop whenever I let off the throttle but it sounds great when you're on the throttle but I've had a lot of people telling me that popping is normal for those bikes especially with that exhaust but I'm not hearing any other 996 doing it so I don't know what to think .. anybody with information greatly appreciated

Yea that's what I meant. No silicates. I have read that a little shouldn't hurt but there's no way for us to control the amount in the mixture so I stick with non. I believe I just get the plain O green Prestone.

Great video. I sure miss my 02 Viffer. Thought I wouldn't after replacing it with a FJR. May look for another during the winter.

Leave it to Mr. Billma to make flushing a coolant system entertaining. Although I don't think I will ever eat a pickle again. I am glad they are not used on fish tacos.

I'm not a big fan of silicates, I know they give you a bit more protection, but they can be actually worse for the engine if they come outta solution...so I've read, I've never used it, so I can't say I have any experience....

Now I want pickles. I weighed the effort and the shop does it for a hundred bucks. Yeah.. yeah, I got a hundred bucks. You sometimes have to weigh effort and time spent. What's your time worth per-hour? The job, to include getting that pesky air out might be 2 or 3 hours first-time. Great vid!

Do you have to remove the oil filter to get the front drain bolt?

With all due respect, I didn't find this video very helpful. I was looking for a step-by-step protocol, and well,...this one didn't cut it. Could have also done without the unrelated digression, as well.
