I was in the same boat man! I looked everywhere for a video like this one here and I couldn’t find one, and you know what they say, want something done gotta do it yourself! You’re welcome though, glad I could help!
I'll have to give your painting method a try when I go to repair some rust. I got some touch-up paint made from o Reillys and that was $60 for a very small containers. One being white for the base and the second was the creamy/pearls.
These turned out pretty good. I was wondering why you wouldn't go to the dealership garage and get the color match paint in spray cans. They go by your vin number. Not knocking your job it looks great.
Allegedly, they don’t sell specifically spray cans at dealerships (at least GM to my knowledge) but they’ll sell a quart or gallon of the paint requiring a spray gun and etc. But I appreciate your comment! Stay tuned, got something interesting about this modification coming in an upcoming video!
@Hunter Wilson not sure what your dealership is doing but I have a 2017 silverado and my service dept ordered me a spray can of the exact color. My truck is a silver color. I want to do flares on my truck and like you I want them to match the color. You might want to try your local parts store as well. Just a suggestion. Looking forward to the next video. I'm a new subscriber as well
@@donaldcotnoir1865 since this color is that tri-coat color it’s almost impossible to pack it all in a can and get the same metallic, according to a paint shop I went to to ask the same question. But, Just wait, you’ll enjoy what’s about to come 👀! I appreciate you thinking I’m worthy enough of a subscription! Blessings
Besides using clear coat, I didn’t use a sealer. It has started to chip a tad, so my advice is make sure you sand it very well and in the hard to reach areas and use whatever type of sealer you are wanting.
I just sanded them down and went with it. Ngl they’re starting to peel in some places so make sure you get it buttery smooth and in all the crevices. I gotta do mine again.
@@hunterrwiilson sounds good thanks for the reply! I just got done doing my tail gate handle and my mirrors and my 3rd brake light, now i’m about to start the fender flares!
They aren’t chipping AS bad as you’d think, but my recommendation for when doing this, make sure you get in that little crevice thats there on the trim piece good, and also make sure you get a 2k Clear Coat. After doing everything that I did plus this new recommendation, you should be in business
You need to sand it better and get rid of the texture, also needs adhesion promoter then primer then paint then pearls and then 2k clear coat theyll last forever without chipping
So is this video about facial hair or a truck. This is the deep dive. Who cares about a truck when the real concern is why the mustache is shaved! WE WANT MORE STASH!!!!! And not the kind that makes you feel funny!
Wow I’ve literally looked everywhere for a video like this for painting or wrapped the gmc fenders. Thanks for this video!

Turned out real nice! Perfect match. Do you have a pic of it after a while on the road?
I actually went back and re-did them, you can check out that video towards the top of my channel! You'll be able to see it more there, or on my IG lol

Fellow SC and I NEEED THAT HAT BRO!!! Where can I get one?
Come down to The Citadel, they sell them in the bookstore!
How did you get the plastic pieces that go around the fender to pop back in when re installing the flares ??
They should just pop back in from the small clips on the back of them.
any issues talking them off any broken clips
Not at all man! I suggest checking out my 3rd from the most recent video too, I had to redo these pieces from them chipping.
@@hunterrwiilson nice
SO what did you do with the mud flaps? do you want to sell them , by the way the truck looks awesome great job
I just tossed them, no need to even to try and sell them imo 🤷🏼♂️. But thanks man, very much appreciated!
Going to do this on my truck, however, did you use any sealer? Or was it not necessary

did you wet sand them smooth? or did you just hit them with the 220 grit and left them like that?

What is your actual paint color called on your truck because I was wanting to see if it was close to mine
It’s called “white diamond.”
How many minutes did you wait after a coat of paint ?
Normally like 5-8 minutes.

@@luisay2828 No worries! Yeah just get a color that’s closest and experiment if anything 🤷🏼♂️. Let me know how it goes!
8 months later, how bad is the peeling/flaking?
Only one is doing it, a very small spot, but nothing I can’t touch up.

One step ahead of ya, did that a good few months back. Looks mint 👌🏼
