    When shaping the crown, have you tried using two layers of paper? One on the inside and one on the outside?

    • @elenassweetthings
      @elenassweetthings  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there! Thank you for your comment! No, I haven’t. Sounds like good idea! You can also try to wrap it over some sort of tube, if you can find the right size? Just make sure crown don’t stick to it, and put paper on the outside.

    Which fondant do you use sugar or gum paste to make the crown and how many hours it take to dry

    • @elenassweetthings

      I used satin ice fondant, gum paste will be steadier, at least 24 hours or more, depending on the humidity where you are! Thank you for watching 💕

    • @elenassweetthings
      @elenassweetthings  3 роки тому +1

      No, you don’t have to. Tylose will help to strengthen it, but you will be able to do it without, just roll fondant a little thicker and give it more time to dry. I use satin ice fondant, I can handle my crown after 24 hours . Hope this helps 😊

    Awesome video and very helpful, but you said you mixed the gold with vodka? Like the liquor? And what was the ratio

    • @elenassweetthings
      @elenassweetthings  4 роки тому

      Hi Aurora! Yes, I use vodka or everclear, it has even more alcohol content, the reason I like it, because it evaporates quick, so it is not goopy and less chance to have drips down as it dries... you can also use clear lemon extract, it has alcohol as well,. Amount, add a few drops at a time, look for it to be smooth, not chunky, try on some practice piece first, you want it to be liquid but still cover good.. sorry it’s long. Hope it makes sense 😊

    • @elenassweetthings

    How long would this take to dry?! How many days in advance would you recommend we do this ?

    • @elenassweetthings
      @elenassweetthings  3 роки тому +2

      I use satin ice fondant, so the crown in the video was made a day before... usually 3-5 days in advance should be safe. Now, different fondant brands will have different time, some never really dry hard, so do a test run first, make sure you have time for plan B 👍

      Hello, I am not sure.. there can be so many reasons… different fondant? Weather? You can add tylose powder or cmc powder to fondant, you can use gum paste instead, pastillage? Make sure it dries in cool dry place, you just have to try and see what works, good luck! Thank you for watching my video 💕💕

      I never put it on pastry, I put on top of fondant covered cakes or stable buttercream like Italian meringue buttercream, or my crusting buttercream, never whipped cream…. You can try put decorations right before, or put additional piece of fondant under? Some use chocolate (I never tried it)
