My fiancée grew up on a farm. My grandpa was a rancher. We’re Oregon natives in a rural area. Trust me when I say that egg was 100% washed and placed in there for him to grab. They normally have a bunch of sh!t on them before they’re washed. Look nothing like that.

Sure yeah you might get eggs that appears “clean” but there’s still chicken poop everywhere… I don’t wash my eggs as there is a layer of coating on the egg that preserves the eggs longer. But when I’m ready to crack one open I give it a quick rinse and dry off. You don’t have to but I do. I wash my hands after going into my coop/run, as ,again, there is chicken poop everywhere…so0 it may look clean but is it sanitary? Maybe not.

Also have mini fluffies that give smaller yellowish white eggs. Quail eggs we get look like mini dinosaur eggs. Beautiful eggs to look for, making every morning like Easter.

Word of caution to anyone who wants to try to eat eggshell or eggs with the shell on. Check your blood pressure and heart health first. My cousin had very high blood pressure that he didn't control. He was rushed to A&E after eating two hardboiled eggs with shell on. His blood pressure went up to 260/140 that day. We're glad he's still alive. Edit: It may sound funny but unfortunately it's true. There are compounds in egg shell that may kill or aggravate the condition of someone with heart disease or hypertension.
