Alright guys, I checked again because it might have worked for me due to an old save. I started a new game, took Dogmeat with me, and led him into the vault. This time, he spawned inside the vault with a delay, but he did appear. Then I asked him to find an item for me, and it didn't work the first time. But as soon as I took everything from the room that Dogmeat could pick up instead of the Cryolator, like a pistol, it worked as usual. For reference, I had the next gen update installed and I am playing on PC. I don't know why it's not working for you guys.
I did not have to go to an old thing i went on a new save with the next gen update i went in the armory with dogmeat closed the door and asked him for items and he got it

Funny thing is, I'm doing my fallout 4 playthrough on vr, and you can literally just reach through any locked case including the cryolater or groknaks axe( whatever its called). Also you can glitch through basically any wall by tapping the power off button and walking forward irl.

It still works - on console and on PC. You just have to pick up everything else and command the dog to go practically next to the case before you ask him to find items. May need a try or two but he will still snatch it out of the case if no other item (2 shell boxes and another 10 mm are there that you need to pick up prior to that) is in that small area.
Dude meant he played the game for 1000 hours, no one would even waste 100 on stupid B's like that, cheaters would have figured this out pretty quick if they actually wanted it
i was able to get Dogmeat into the vault about a month ago so i'm not sure if it's patched or not... will agree this helped me progress a lot through the game
For anyone who still wants this weapon, but doesn't want to master lock picking and can't get dog meat to. Cait also helps with the process she can unlock any lock at the cost of a shit ton of lock picks. She's in the combat zone if you want her.
Also if still won't appear, go to the back of the vault where you get the game at the computer terminal. He will appear by the time you get into that room.
i'm sure that glitch can happen with Synth Curie (she is a companion don't have weapon as default) make sure she don't have any weapon in her inventory; go to the Hubris Comics, feral ghouls attack and she grab the Gronak's axe without open the locked case (she don't like to use gun very much, i remember that she have a laser piston that time but she will find any mele weapon to use as possible) The cryolator is more trickier for Curie. keep the roach alive, get her to the room, lure the roach to her, there will be a chance she grab the weapon nearby or punch them and you get nothing.
I just did it and it works. You have to move him close to the case and then ask him to find something. Also make sure you had him take out all the possible items in the room. Once you get him by the case ask him to fetch for items and it will work after a few tries.

If you angle your viewpoint, just right. While in 3rd person. you can actually just straight up grab it through the box itself. At least, that's how I've gotten it before. And thats while playing both vanilla and modded.

Or if you want to just zip your way through causing mass destruction, you can always get the cheat room mod soon as you start and it has unlimited possibilities and great weapons to use in game
Just go get dog meat from the red rocket and bring him to the vault. Bring him to the cryolator, And then tell him to fetch anything good. There is a glitch that allows dog meat to take the weapon out of the case. As for the ammo just check dog meat's inventory
I tried this ages ago, took companion Dogmeat to 111, but when I rode the lift down into the vault, Dogmeat wasn't with me. I rode it back up, and Dogmeat was off to the side of the lift incapacitated as if he had been injured in battle. I stimpak'd him, ordered him to the center of the lift, activated it again, and when I got to the bottom, he wasn't with me. Rode the lift back up, and there he was, off to the side of the lift, incapacitated again. So, needless to say, I did not continue the experiments to get such a shitty weapon whose cells are so expensive a beginning player can't afford to buy them. I got my lockpick leveled, got the gun, tried it once, put it in a trunk with all the other thousands of guns I will never use.
The easiest way to get this gun at lvl 1 is if on PC Press the ~ key while facing the lock box then click on the lock box and type unlock and there you go you have the gun
everyone saying it's been fixed it might of been but then after next gen update it's working again, I did it like a week ago maybe you have to keep wearing the stuff you start with IDK but after getting down in the vault crouch down for a bit and usually your follower will come up to you so maybe that's why, but like every follower is supposed to be able to come down since the have dialog about the players dead spouse edit: was on xbox one
Yea but you get a small supply of ammo that cannot be found anywhere else and it takes levels and game hours to level it to use other ammo. It’s novel at best. Maybe a good head start to beat the first battle (concord).
As soon as I tried to get the dog in the vault by putting him on the elevator pressing the button and stood there with him he disappeared when I loaded in the vault
A much easy way to get that weapon also is just to get piper from diamond city she has max lockpicking command her to go to the lock case and she open it for you and you get that weapon

You must only wear the Vault 111 suit without any other armor when trying this glitch and it will work. Tried this on PC and PS5 right now

@@emkingz93 Cryo cells, and the Railway Rifle spawns in after level 20 at the railyard near Starlight Drive-In, check the train cars.

You can also tell him to search certian locked safes. One is the advanced locked safe in the police station where you meet danse.

Save with him as a companion by your side when you enter. Reload that save and Dogmeat will now have spawned in the vault with you!

I can't get dogmeat to get inside the vault! even if he stands in the elevator door, will not enter the vault.

You need to only be wearing vault suit 111 it’s like a bug if you wore anything else dog meat won’t enter

The cryo effect bugged my first playthrough. Enemies would spawn back in unable to move and for the most part would spawn horizontal on the ground.

i think you have to make sure the cryolator is the only item in dogs range
