Your video just lifted a whole lot of stress of my head as my KTM is doing that exact thing, so all being well and good. I now have the answer to fix it thanks for the video very helpful.
Also I'd like to add that if you're experiencing actual seal leaks, most of the time it's from the chain being to tight.
First thing I do on my KTMs is to install the Dirt Tricks dome washer - solid recommendation.
Very helpful indeed for when this problem eventually comes my way. Thanks for taking the time to address such a seemingly minute issue with a clip.
$34 and $15 shipping for a washer. You’re killing me Mr. Jobson! I hope it works.
A hot tip is always run Oem or a good quality front sprocket like supersprox
Some of the cheaper brand sprockets are slightly thinner and cause premature seal wear.
That is helpful information. Thank you. I was about to change mine out for the third time in three years.
I Hope that’s my issue too mate! Thanks for posting!
Thanks for the video! I changed the o-ring and the seal today and it leaks, so it must be the washer 🤦🏻♂️🤩
Thanks brosaph, had this happen on a bdr ride, thankfully just happened to be close to a Ktm shop.
Good info...another thing which I learnt the hard way was that the flat side of the sprocket should face outwards and the side with a step/collar on it should face inwards...made the mistake of putting in on the wrong way (doh) and immediately got a leak as there wasn't enough pressure on the o-ring - in hindsight shud have known something was wrong when after tightening the bolt to 60nm, the dome washer cud be spun by hand (doh again)...anywway turned it the right way round and leak was gone 😄
Thanks mate, my husky has done 2000km and has just started weeping oil there so will try that new outside washer from dirt trix.
Very helpful cheers my dome washer spins free I m assuming this change would help I will still inspect everithing thank you .

Just subscribed. That’s a lovely 5 hundy!
You good bastard thanks heaps mate
Hope it helped ya. Thanks.
Cheers keith great info as usual
Awesome very helpful thanks 🍻
Mine has leaked from day one (2009)
I just treat it like a auto chain oiler.
Nice one ;-) ... I do miss my auto chain oiler that I had on the Tiger.
thanks for sharing !
Does anybody have issues with valves leaking on a 2005 lc4, 625cc. Thank you for any recommendations
Mine is not leaking currently, I replaced the seal and o ring about 80hrs earlier, but I see the Dome washer is certainly not snug, cant I just add a thinnish steel washer between dome and Bolt?
Hello, this video is very interesting as always.
Can you tell me how many teeth are your rear disc and front sprocket?
50T rear. Front is either 14 or 15, depending on the ride.
Problem is, the washers aren’t available here at the moment.
Ktm needs a new seal design!
Which helmet do you use?...I see you can use googles or the visor...does that work well?
Arai XD4. Yes I can use goggles and the visor at the same time (handy when it rains)
Is this only for the ktm 4 strokes? I can't find anything for my 300 and I have that problem
I don't know for sure about the 300, but it wouldn't surprise me.
2 and 4 strokes alike. I changed my old 2008 KTM 250XC seal a few times. My 2018 TE250 at 80 hrs started to weep for the first time. Have the Dirt Tricks washer going on in the next couple days.
Good video thanks, but it don't even bother me now.
What doesn't bother you now?
Funny, i just replace my dome washer and the seal immediately started leaking
