Great video Patrick! And please please zoom the screen when you are writing dax...

Or make the text bigger, dax studio allows that and Adam made a video for you on that 😀

Patrick, you're amazing. Your videos brings rich content and at the same time are fun. For sure you were born to do this. Best wishes from Brazil.

I really wish Dax had a proper debugging functionality, something like Excels "Analyse Function", with step by step parsing of the function, would make our lives a lot easier

You may have a look at DAX debugger in Power BI Sidetools

Oh man, I’ve been looking for a video exactly like this for forever. Thanks Patrick.

Thanks! This is the video I've been wanting for months! Please continue to show us ways we can take examples from Power BI to DAX Studio and back again. It's not an intuitive.

This has been my workflow for ages (though quite often I'll have Tabular Editor open and will manage code for my measures in there instead).
One rabbit hole I keep meaning to go down is my DAX query syntax.
Rather than nest my filter table expression in SUMMARIZECOLUMNS I've always wrapped my SUMMARIZECOLUMNS in a CALCULATETABLE and added any filter conditions there.
Am I doing something grossly wrong using that syntax? Coming from a SQL background I always found it more intuitive to do it that way, as it acts almost like a WHERE clause at the end of a statement.

Can this be used for testing DAX measures that I am currently writing within a PBIX which connects to another Dataset on Power BI service?

I didn’t know I could copy the DAX from perf analyzer and run right in DAX Studio. Thanks!!

This is exactly what I'm looking for, but it's hard to keep track with this speed.

    Why did you need treatas?

But what if the measures are in the cube, not in power bi desktop? 95% of the measures I write are done in visual studio, not power bi, so I just have to write them correctly.

You can use the same work flow, just paste the final measure expression back into visual studio instead of Power BI Desktop

Nice idea but video was too fast. To much switching windows. And unclear about what your solution is doing. Pick a way simpler example..
