    Most people say it’s good to use a heat gun to get the bubbles out of the epoxy before it dries, as is done in bigger tables and such, but as far as the rings go I think the bubbles give it a nice touch.

  • @novemberflower7027

    When first hand sanding (after you've moved on from belt sander) you said you were starting with 220 grit and progressing to 25000 grit, can list of each increments used through your process? Also, at what point (which grit) do you transition to wet sanding? I would really love to hear back from you...this is something I'm planning and really looking forward to doing with my son- and while I've tried many methods (from using homemade silicone molds to hand carving the wood first and then dipping into resin) your video is wonderful and I'm intrigued by your approach.
    Thanks in advance and keep up the great making!!!🌱

      we grind with water from 360 gradation. In turn: 360, 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500. At the end, polishing paste. Thanks ;-)

    • @novemberflower7027
      @novemberflower7027 6 років тому

      jedrek29t Thanks! The resin is something I've been playing around with for a while now...mini dioramas in teeny bottles, small (altoid like) tins that have precut windows in lid, slicing rings from copper pipe to use as pendants or necklace centerpieces with images and plant matter inside the resin. Thank you for the details on the sandpaper because I get to see a family member (whom I rarely see) this afternoon and have all the supplies packed up to bring so that we can attempt to make several wood and resin projects...I need to make one more stop for belt sanding paper and micro mesh before meeting him and I just found your videos last night. I'm so excited to try your method with the masking tape because our time is limited and (while it's still a multi day project), this will eliminate the need for creating silicone molds first. Thank is for responding- I know now which grits to pick up at the hardware store.🌱

    Nice effect with the paint and the resin, but the wood part is not very thick and probably rather fragile. Also, if the wood is oak then it requires some sort of protective finish; it won't remain nicely polished like the resin.
