I cant believe the original who played Gomez Addams by John Astin came on this show from 1998 its crazy how films shows also movies changes over the years lots of memories history of each actress in each seen this is why I want to be an actress myself many reasons why I love it so much about the set the production everything about it meeting new people its an amazing career for anyone can do it im not gonna give up on my career dream as an actress ill make it happen working hard also having fun full of memories I still cant believe he played Grandpa in this show he should've played Gomez since he is the original but I still have full respect of how it was made this makes me happy this is why I want to do this type of things its amazing.
This episode is really similar to an episode from the black and white series. There's one where grandma frump visits and tries to show off her youth to prove she doesn't need to go to a home for the elderly.
Yeah... Most of the episodes of the series are updated versions of the 60's series. Sometimes they are very, very similar, sometimes just the general idea was taken. - watching both versions of the stories back to back makes for an interesting experience.
glen taronto says he based his performance of gomez on watching old videos of the original series so it was a huge thrill for glen to meet john and get to work with him!!
I grew up with The Addams Family (90's movies and cartoons). I thought The Addams Family Reunion and The New Addams Family were a godsend. But, now watching 1964 The Addams Family; forever grateful for the original cast bringing these characters to life. Being older and watching an episode of this series, horrible! Love John Astin here. I love everything The Addams Family but this show.
This was such an odd show. Both writing, set design and decoration improved as the series went along. The kid playing Pugsley was great! I wish these were out on DVD...
@@mitchelanhalt5261 for me, John Astin's character here IS still the original Gomez. I like to think this NEW Addams family are descendents of the original family and happen to be very similar to them.
I like to think John Astin is still his original se Gomez character here and this new Addams family are relatives of the original Addams family and very similar to them. The new Gomez could be the original Pugsley's son, making the original Gomez his grandfather
Almost the same with the 60's episode, Happy Birthday Grandmama Frump, where Grandmama Frump thought Gomez and Morticia were sending her to a Home for the aged.
@@BeeHatGuy I meant that loosely, referring to visual gags and simple shock comedy with its subversion of social norms as the punchline. Not too dissimilar to when people compare Star Wars and Greek tragedies.
When was this show on? I dont ever remember seeing it on tv, but yea Id much rather watch the one from the 60s than this, Im only watching this part because of John Astin
It was on ABC Family I believe. It was okay but the first season of the New Addams Family basically copied (including whole scenes) the first season of the original TV and modernize it
i can't beleive it's john astin the original gomez addams himself, he and carylon jones were awesome in the old tv series of the addams family, it's too bad she passed away in 1983 (rip).
this is where i nearly lost my mind because there are a few things i remember growing up this being one of them with john astin and i believe it was the addams family that got me really into production!
Compared to the original and the movies, this show was pretty bad but I do like how much Glenn Taranto was channelling John Astin. It really shows in this episode.
Holy Spirit amen amen for their great grandmother Maude Delilah passway love her only great grandfather he'll visit his 💓💓💓💓💓 familes remember see them at home The Address 😊😊
She's rollerblading with her headphones on didn't even that Mack Truck but Wednesday talk to her brother Pussly tell where the world skating headphones to come new wives
4:10 I like how they played the old theme song when John Astin showed up. It's a great call back. Especially when he yelled, "I'm back!"
I know there's some versions of this episode where they don't play that
Everything about his intro is really well done. They did a great job making it feel like a big deal.
Morticia: Grandpapa!
*John Astin just like 1960's Gomez * : Cara Mia!
4:11 that smile and those eyes.
The one and only Gomez Addams.
I like how when John Astin steps in the original Addams Family theme plays. Calling back to the original!
I didnt even notice until you mentioned it
Cara Mia
Original Gomez as Grandpapa is one of the best things in TV history.
Got to meet John Astin last year. Got a wonderful photo of him doing that trademark Gomez smile. He's still got it
I’m jealous
But he's feeling MUCH better now.
I hope he makes an appearance in the Netflix series! Maybe as Great-Grandpapa Addams?
10 years later and he’s still alive! Here’s to another 10 years!
Holy shit, Grand papa is the original Gomez!
I just noticed that.
Yup, it’s OG
@@jessicathethreestoogesfan2635 Im wondering is Grandpa Addams Grandmama's father? She looks older than him lol
Jonna King I was wondering the same thing but at the moment I think Grandpapa Addams made his only appearance in this episode.
@@jessicathethreestoogesfan2635 he makes one more appearances in the episode Gomez and Morticia vs Fester, Mama and Grandpa, I think is the name of it
They see Grandpapa
True Addams Family fans see Gomez
The return of the King.
Wow, I gotta say, the actors they picked for this version are spot on. And what a treat to have John Astin!
Grandpapa is still Gomez for me 😂😂🤗
Lovely to see John Astin - I smiled through the whole episode because of him
I just watched it to see the original actor who played Gomez.
The original Gomez is the only thing that's good in this.
huh98, while it isn’t as good as the 1960’s show, the new addams family was still good
4:25
RIP Carolyn Jones
4:08 - 4:41 All inside joke about John Astin's history with the franchise including Glenn Taranto being the Young Gomez while he is the old Gomez.
This show has been criminally forgotten
John Astin man was god in his role as Gomez Adams, “ahh.....just the right amount of Vermin”
OH SANP? did you hear the way he said "Cara Mia" ? he's already down with the new Morticia xD
John Astin will Always be Gomez whether it's in live action or doing voice animation. I wish he did the voice for the new animated movie coming soon.
I guess "Grandma Delilah" would be Carolyn Jones.
Wonder if John Austin envies "Gomez"'s train set. He gets to actually play with it
This version isnt so bad!
I vaguely remember it being on the fox family channel back in the day.
Kinda fun...
It was like one of the first shows on Fox Family
Terrible version of this I just couldn't watch this shit show
"I'm back!" "Where's that young gomez?!"
What a great actor and energy!!!

John astin! nice to see you again in a addam's family role!!
it must have felt weird for him to be a guest star on a show that was originaly his and, act alongside someone playing his character
This is the Addams Family equivalent of seeing Tobey Maguire in No Way Home.
this is a very cool tribute to the original 1960s series!!

I didn't mind this show. The only thing I didn't like was the Theme Song.
The Original Theme was a classic. It seems wrong not to include it.
It was the easiest thing to get right, and they managed to get it completely wrong.

Gomez Addams?
Uh... yes?

Thanks haven't seen this one in years - John was my favorite actor of all time even killer tomatoes was good!
The only good thing in this car crash remake is John Astin.
I kind of like it. It certainly put in the effort. The Addams Go To School episode is almost a shot for shot remake of the original.
What was the original 60s show, but a remake of the comic strip?
@@ZeroFighter it absolutely wasn't. The cartoon strips were barebone, so they had to add a lot of backstory

My question is how exactly does the Addams family tree work?

So grandpapa is the original gomez and these addams are canon like the new generation?
How big was that truck and how fast was it moving to kill an Addams?

Lol Fester is pretty much curly from the three stooges l
I have to agree
What to make of the fact that Grandmama Delilah met her fate the same way Gage Creed did?
@kirax10a You think they would stick with the original format and have Wednesday younger then Pugsley.
This was definitely a train wreck .But good seeing John Astin.
