As usual, such clear and concise instructions, with so many hints 'n tips along the way for those new to bag making. I'm sure everyone would gain a lot from your videos. Thanks!
Great information. I'm learning so much from your channel. Your explanations are so clear and concise. I have liked , subscribed, and hit the bell! I don't want to miss a thing!!🙂
Your skill builder videos are amazing. Thank you for all your help. 💚 I wouldn‘t have learned to sew if it wasn‘t for these youtube videos. Following along sewing pouches gave me the confidence and stamina to try more difficult projects.
Hi Nicole Very helpful video, thank you. I wouldn't have thought about putting an exterior pocket into a pouch. I think it's a useful addition and you have given such clear instructions which is encouragement to give it a go. Thanks again. I wish you and your family all the best for 2025 x
Hi Nicole, thanks for this add on. Is there any reason you could not just sew your pocket side seams all the way to the top instead of just to the top stitching?
Hi Cheryl! It’s because of the way the upper part of the zipper is sewn and the tabs, you won’t be able to freely lift the sides to get all the way to the top. The other side of that gap is the zipper tape/tabs and there is no way to sew through all the layers and have it be hidden, the second line of topstitching is the only real way to sew it closed. If you want to avoid the gap all together I would extend the pocket lining to the side seams, or do a pocket like you would do for a lining. I hope that makes sense!
I just finished 2 of these bags and wanted to add pockets. Please tell me about the double-sided tape. Can I use the type I use in card making? Or, is there a specific fabric tape?
Any reposition-able 1/8” tape should be fine, it’s not fabric specific. The important thing is keeping it out of your stitch line. This is the one I use: Kesote 5 Rolls Double Sided Tape... www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZQ4K1W2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It doesn't matter how careful I am when I cut and measure, there is no way my pattern would have matched like your top and bottom pieces, without serious intention 😂
You absolutely can! You would just add a fabric tab at the open end, it may be helpful to baste the end closed and I like to remove the zipper stops. Then of course add one to the closed end too. You have made me think, I should do some videos showing just dress zippers not zipper by the yard like I usually use. If you have any zipper by the yard to practice on I know a lot of people have had success following my zipper tape tutorial if it is something you wanted to practice. Others use a zipper jig but that was something I never got the hang of.
I will make sure to include more dress/premade zippers in my tutorials but I managed to get this put together to demonstrate how you would use a dress zipper in place of zipper by the yard for a few different zipper applications, hopefully it helps in the meantime! Hi Cathy! My exterior is cotton woven interfaced with lightweight woven interfacing (SF101 equivalent). I used thermolam fusible fleece to stabilize and my lining is cotton woven interfaced with p44f.

Thank you so much for your wonderful videos. I was wondering where can I find the metal clips you use to hold the fabric in place for sewing?

Can one do the zip with the tab attached. I simply cannot put a tab back on a zip.
