A K1500 has the crossbrace running directly underneath the pitman arm bolt!! THEREFORE, accessing the bolt is impossible...You have to rwmove the cotter pin from the pitman arm bolt that connects to the steering arms...and remove BOTH the arm and the pump.
How's the steering box holding up? On the fence about which way to go for the same reason of mix reviews about both parts store and the higher end boxes
Truthfully, it’s noticeably firmer to turn than the original box but I’m gonna stay with it. A firmer turn makes cruising straight much better. Keeps my arm muscles more toned too. 😂
I’ve heard the redhead boxes are a good choice for just a bit more money.www.redheadsteeringgears.com/shop?year=1994&make=Chevrolet&model=C-1500%20Pickup%20Truck%20(2WD)
@@dronechaserzl1 thanks for the reply, yeah I've heard of the red heads and some reviews are good, some are saying still sloppy steering and only a year warranty and no customer service. May just take the route you to and see what happens. Thanks again
I am seeing other videos of this replacements and I’m reading something about air bags and the alignment. And that you have to align the gearbox. I’m no mechanic I just copy what others do. But if it’s something like aligning the distributor then no thank you
My truck doesn’t have airbag but either way you just set wheels straight before starting and lock in position by turning key off. Remove gearbox and set replacement gearbox in same position as original and install.👌
Easy enough! I have to replace the steering box on my 1995 Suburban. Should be the same. Nice Silverado!!
Bad ass straight to the point
Thanks this is the best video I’ve seen keep up the good work
Looks so easy, how you do everything. I would've been cussing all over the place 😆
🤣👍I’ve been a mechanic over 35 years and have got most of that cussing while working out of me… most of it…😎
@@dronechaserzl1 😂😂
After a year or so, how’s it holding up? I’m on the fence about which box to buy.
