- We’re halfway through 2021, and the year has already given us plenty of heart-stopping moments. In May, a little girl got the scare of her life while playing in the waves in Hawaii, when a shark’s fin appeared. In North Carolina, a couple had a terrifying encounter with an aggressive and rabid bobcat in their own driveway. And first responders in Arkansas raced to save a 3-week-old baby who was struggling to breathe. #InsideEdition

Scariest moment of my life was when my daughter was born. My wife had a very difficult delivery. The pelvic bone had pressed a large indentation in my daughter's head and the umbilical cord had wrapped under her throat. I was terrified and thought for sure something was wrong. The last couple pushes the doctor literally grabbed the cord and pulled it up from under her throat like it was just another life saving delivery. When she finally came out she was a scary purple with a misshapen head. What was wild is within 5 minutes of being born her color returned and within 30 mins her head went back to normal shape. Today she's a perfectly healthy 8 year old.

In my hometown in Poland we had five bombs discovered under an active petrol station when it was being demolished... These were smaller, but still it happens all the time!
It was a controlled detonation. I seen one in my own home city. I was about 10.

The most heart wrenching moment in my life was when my little brother was a few months old. He was on the sofa and for some reason my mom wasn’t looking, and he fell off the sofa onto his head. We heard him cry for 2 seconds then he just stopped and went unconscious. It was the most scariest time until a few minutes later, he began to cry. It was the biggest relief
Mom did not immediately drop her phone. Who called the media? She shot long enough to know what she was doing. Mom of the year right there.

The shark did not bite the girl, but if it had, it would have been a mistake.
The bobcat was rabid, which was probably a big reason for it attacking.

In 1986 my mother was driving on her own with my brother who was 7 months old at the time from Cork to Kerry (halfway, back roads, miles from anywhere middle of nowhere, not a hospital in sight), she turned luckily to see he was gone purple, stoped the car imeaditly and did what that man did for the baby and she luckily revived him. Luckily she was a nurse.

Right by my place in like 2019, there was an actual plane crash right down a road from where I lived and you could hear the planes engine slowly dying and our place is CLOSE to a airport but there was no way they could make it because their plane engine had died and it had killed EVERYONE in the crash when it went down and not a single person survived but the road opened back up and people could go down that road again, but still it’s sad

Hard thing about doing cpr with babies and children that is your own is some parents cant do it in their own kids due to panic. Also there is always a chance to break you child's ribs and it is scary in all honestly. Though yes I agree that parents should be thought how to do those things

The baby was aspirating, that can be really serious and not everyone knows how to deal with it. I had 2 paramedics and 3 ambulance crew working on my newborn all the way to hospital when it happened so scary.. Its basically where the milk or vomit get s sucked back down their airway and they can basically drown! It can be so silent, they just make a face like they're struggling for air.
That video made me cry. I am so sorry that happened to your baby. I’d be absolutely hysterical if it happened to my daughter. I was not prepared to be so affected by videos like these since I became a mom 😭
In my paramedic years, I had to treat a few infants. Those cases were always heart wrenching. Most lived, but some didn’t. I hope yours is alright.
*PLEASE GO LEARN CPR*. It is critical to start quickly when needed, and it DOES save lives. If more people had these skills, more lives could be saved. Parents of babies definitely need to learn these skills.
PTSD is a big problem for first responders. The career can be incredibly rewarding, but also deeply depressing. It can also go from one to the other with unbelievable speed.
this is one of the many problems with natures just good enough rule having the airway and the food and take place at the same tube is one of natures just good enough things with the human body

I experoenced something similar when my 6 months old baby was chocking. I was hysterical talking on the phone with emergency when I remembered that techniquque, and my baby spat some tape from her moth/throat! She was choking with that. Now my baby is happy and healthy 4 years old princess.

I think it should be mandatory for parents to take first aid classes on infants and children when the mom finds out she's pregnant. It should also be free. I took a first aid class in middle school and years later when I found out I was pregnant, I didn't have the money to take a refresher course so I read up on it. And ask my brother who was a paramedic questions. It came in handy when my then 1 week old preemie baby started choking. I wanted to panic but I knew that meant certain death for my baby. So I shoved it down and focused. Using the steps I learned and just like this officer did I got my baby breathing again.

I thought it was so odd alot of people don't know infant cpr and what to do in case if choking both my babies were nicu babies and it was a mandatory thing for me to take for free at the hospital even though I know it from baby sitting as my mother is a rn and taught me young but my friend who has a baby at the same place had to pay for it and her baby wasn't in the nicu I don't understand that it should be free for everyone
I told my parents I wanted to babysit and made me a packet on doing infant cpr, toddler cpr and normal cpr. I haven’t started babysitting and I might not. That kinda scared me
The class should NOT be free! If you want kids, you should be able to AFFORD them, including paying to take a cpr class. We don't need to be giving anyone incentives for having babies in a dying planet. I think it should be required for parents to take several child development classes at a community college including psychology and interpersonal communications classes. Too many idiots having babies these days. Having kids is a privilege, not a right.
@@manicjupiterflute I don’t think free cpr classes is exactly an incentive to have kids. You’re basically saying only people rich enough to take time off work AND pay for classes should be allowed to reproduce. Bit gross. This take is one step away from forced sterilisation of the poor.

To the plane crash victim - I can’t say I disagree with his decision. If I had just survived a plane crash, my next move is definitely not gonna be to immediately get into another aircraft.
