    Hi Italo, another great ‘How To’ video - Thank you!
    Your use of tape to identify the position of the handle bar control location holes is brilliant - the method I will now use when fitting my Renthal 971 RC bars.
    I assume you didn’t include the refitting of your Barkbusters hand guards in the video as the required 14mm expander / taper nut / 8mm CS bolt were not included in your original hardware kit (BHG-091)?
    I notice several people have asked about vibration as the original Honda bars include anti-vibration weights.
    FYI - I intend to use the Barkbusters hardware kit for the CRF300 Rally (BHG-093) which includes bar end weights (B-056) which fit directly to the handlebars rather than the external bar end weights (B-066).

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  4 місяці тому

      Thanks, Adrian!! Glad to hear the video has been useful!
      Indeed it is not possible to use the model specific Barkbusters kit for the CRF300L. There is no space to fit it without interfering with the controls.
      I went for the Barkbusters universal kit for handlebars with 22mm. To be honest is not perfect but it fits.
      Once I get to a “perfect” solution I’ll definitely share it here on the channel.

      Hi Italo, Thank you for your reply! I look forward to watching the “perfect” (Barkbusters) solution on your channel….
      NB: I should also mention another reason I intend to use the CRF300 Rally hardware kit (BHG-093) is because the aluminium backbone bars are longer and I want the maximum fitting flexibility as in the future I also want to fit a Kaoko Throttle Stabilizer (KBBADREV1) which is compatible with Barkbusters handguards.

  • @Tony-kf8qy
    @Tony-kf8qy 4 місяці тому

    Thanks, great video. Why on earth would they not make the hole already if the bar is made for the CRF 300? Is it so that it can be compatible with more models?

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Tony,
      This handlebar is not made specifically for the CRF300L. It’s a universal fit. That’s why the hole is always excluded ;(

    What about the Barkbusters hardware? Before the bar swap it looks like you were using the CRF300 specific kit BHG-091 and a different hardware kit with the Pro Taper. Could you let us know what kit you used as I also have a CR High Pro Taper to fit but want to order up some Barkbusters before I fit it.

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Johannes,
      That’s a good question!
      It is not possible to use the bike specific kit if you go for the Pro taper CR high.
      I’m now using the universal kit BHG-151 and while it fits, it’s not perfect. On the right side the aluminium bar is too close to the brake line for my taste. Based on previous experience, there is a chance that during a fall the hand-guard bar can move. Usually it twists up. I like to have a good clearance between the bar and any of the cables on the handlebar.

    Having a Rally model I have to remove plastics to get access to the throttle valve. Could I just remove the handlebar clamps to release the handlebar from the front fork and then manipulate the handlebars to create slack in the throttle cables needed to release them from the throttle tube? Seems like it would work, but I’m not sure.

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  Місяць тому +1

      Hi mate,
      Yes, it is possible but fiddly. I have already done like that but whenever possible it’s easier to unhooked from the throttle valve.
      You may use a plier to help pull the cable out of its housing. In case you do that, just make sure that you don’t squeeze the cable. Go light on it and just apply enough pressure to grip the cable.
      You will figure out 👍🏻. It’s just a bit fiddly.

      Clip-on on the CRF300L?
      I’d say the cable would be far too loose. It would look a bit strange for my taste. From a functional point of view it will still work.

      Hi Aleksander and thanks for the comment!
      I’m following the service manual from Honda for the CRF and on the handlebar section it only states to tighten the front bolts before the rear bolts. No torque values listed. I went by feeling to be honest.
      In case I find official torque values specified by Honda I’ll add them here in the comments.

    So how are you finding handlebar vibration
    I found increased vibration after taking out weights on original handlebars to fit barkbusters. I think I may buy the barkbusters end weights. Which are way overpriced. How's the vibration on your new bars?

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  4 місяці тому

      Hi Alex,
      I don’t feel much vibration but that’s probably because of the foam grips that I’m using.

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  4 місяці тому

      Did you notice an increase in vibration immediately after installing the Barkbusters?

    • @alexanderwright9064
      @alexanderwright9064 4 місяці тому

      @RoiaMoto yes it's not huge just noticeable.. It is because the weights are removed from inside the handle bars. That's why Barkbusters have new end weights . Optional. To fit Just wondered if you noticed more vibration in upur new handle bar... Planning a long ride when the monsoon end here.. May give me numb hands on long rude. In your stock handle bars u did not remove the end weights. I bought the same kit but took out weight so I could use an 8mm bolt. You screwed into weights with 6mm bolt. So barkbusters would have no difference to vibration dampening.. You could still use optional weights on your new handlebars, which many do. Some notice vibration some don't some don't care. Just wondering ?

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Alex,
      Yes, I have noticed some extra vibration. My approach was to install foamed grips and now it’s pretty much unnoticeable.
      I never tried the bar end weights from Barkbusters. If you decide to install them let me know is how it goes!
      Cheers

    Wont the hole you made compromise the handle bar?

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  День тому +1

      Hi Boris
      In theory yes but it’s irrelevant in practice. You also don’t need to make the hole go through. Just remove the minimum amount of material necessary as shown in the video.
      The amount of material removed will not make the handlebar weaker to the point of failure in most accidents.
      Consider that the original handlebar is made of weaker steel and also has a hole in it.
      I definitely recommend making a hole instead of filing down the positioning tab on the electrical control.

    • @borisbogart3288

      @@RoiaMoto what is the importance of the positioning tab?

    • @RoiaMoto
      @RoiaMoto  16 годин тому +1

      It holds the electric control in place.
      The little tab on the electrical control slots inside the handle must hole so it doesn’t spin.

    Factory handlebars are made of shitty metal. They bend soooo easily. First time you drop it they bend.
