Sharon, your wonderful Mom named you right because you are always SHARING all good things. Because of this post I just paid off my smallest credit card. I was out of debt but due to disastrous things happening I ended up in debt again. I thank you for this post because I am retired and tho my retirement income is not tiny the debt was dragging me down. I am re-inspired to knock this down again my sister in Christ!.and like you to get one done is a accomplishment! ❤

Sharon, thank you this financial word. I like that you have titled your main account your operating account. Although I have all my funds in one account, I do have a spreadsheet to keep track of my spending based on the purchases I make. It sounds like I need to expand my system. Thanks for sharing this tip!!

Tonya, I used to do it that way but by actually separating big ticket expenditures like travel, shopping, emergency funds, savings and even a small miscellaneous account helped me stay on track in 2023. Since my credit union allows me to open multiple free checking accounts under my member no. It was a win win for me. 😊

I hear you! No credit card debt! I have a target that I use so they won’t close it but pay it off right away. All kinds of credit card offers! No thank you! Like you I’m 62 soon to be 63 and I don’t want to retire with a lot of debt! Debt is weight and He admonishes us to lay aside every weight that can beset us!

Hi Sharon, great advice, we'll needed. You reminded me of a scripture Matthew 5:16, that says, let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Praise God, your light was shining for that your lady. You are and inspiration Sharon, blessings.

Good word and good information. I needed this I am trying to get out of debt. I want to be debt free and worry free . I have to admit I was not a good steward of the money that God has blessed me with. I shopped and bought things that I really did not need. I wanna thank you for being that light at the end of the tunnel with this information. May God continue to shine his love, and light and blessings on you and your family. ❤🙏

Marcy, I understand. I’m a shopper but I had to learn to be responsible. So creating my budget and separating my accounts worked for me. We can still do the things we enjoy if we do it responsibly. 😊

❤ the financial advice. Being debt free takes discipline but that discipline gives one confidence and control of your life. Many moons ago I paid off my debts and cancelled and cut up my credit and store cards. I have a main account and a debit card so that i can only spend what is on the card. I am now a more discerning consumer. I spend less but research and so buy more wisely.
    Thank you for sharing, Sharon.

I have been debt free for several years. For the past 6+ years I have lived on a modest income Social Security Retirement funds, and investments.
I spend only want I can autopay within 30 days. God has blessed me continually and I put him first. I pay my annual tithes in January. I own my home and car.
God wants us to be good stewards of what he blesses us with. I support several charitable organizations.
Hopefully I can get back to world travelling since I no longer am a caregiver for my parents, who are no longer with me.
I was taught as a young child by father to save. I have never spent money on useless trends, fades, and entertainers making them rich.
So at 73 yrs. of age, God has and is continuing to bless me. I realized after loosing love ones, you cannot take anything with you when you die.
You can live a modest life if you are wise.

69 …I retired after thirty years working for the state of Ohio. I receive state income, not social security. Big difference. I can go work anywhere and they will not take away any money. I paid off my debt before I retired. 😊. I retired in October 2008. My bbf is 72 and work three different jobs bc her social security is not enough. She keeps spending and keep complaining she needs to get out of debt. I learn years ago the word MORTGAGE…… it’s Greek. Mort means ….death………gage means……grip. Death grip. That word scares me to this very day. Don’t want to be continually living in the DEATH GRIP…..who wants to breathe their last breath at a job bc of money/debt. Coming out of work feet first. Sad😢

    • @agelessrestyling
      @agelessrestyling  7 місяців тому

My mom retired at 50 with zero debt and never made the amount of money I did. She tried to teach us but did listen but I’m in a good situation now because I had her as an example. I can retire if I choose to stop traveling but it’s not something I want to do. So I’ll work a couple more years 65 that way I will not have the expense of health insurance that can impact my travel plans.

I always make sure our credit card is payed off every year at December 31 so I begin the new year fresh and no debt. It feels so good! Yes Sharon I thrift my clothes about 90 percent of them. We do the credit card points all the time. Use our credit card and pay it off, then we use the points to get a gift card to eat out. All great advice!

I would also add that it's possible to pay a mortgage off before it's full term. When I got extra money, i.e., tax returns, bonuses, etc. on the principal of my mortgage. My 30-year mortgage was paid off in 13 years. It's possible with sacrifice and discipline.
