i don’t know about that. i’m gonna say probably not. Nomad Internet still works off cell phone towers using a wider range with a technology called “C-Band”. i don’t know that much about marine/boating/sailing, but my best educated guess is you’ll most likely want to look at some sort of satellite communication to receive internet on a boat. i guess it all depends on how far off shore you’re gonna be. you can always reach out to Nomad and ask them their professional opinion though: nomadinternet.com

yes, while being in an extremely remote area with zero cell recursion- it was very slow for downloading apps. so i wouldn’t recommend it for that. however- it did give me some internet when my phone as getting absolutely nothing at all. so if you just need to stream some netflix, send/receive phone calls/texts, check mail or browse web- id say it was fine for that.
