I live south of dayton Ohio, we could get 14" of rain in 5 weeks around here easily. And we get about 3 cuttings of hay each year. Ohio Seems kinda tropical compared to wy.

Great to see any amount of rain for you guys in Wyoming. I pray showers keep coming...blonde cow have her baby? I really hope GOD continues sending rains... lots of rains
Some how I managed to miss this upload. Shame on me! Hoping the rain continues for you, Would love to see that green prairie grass come the end of June!
That's funny, Blonde cow & Cracker Jack are coming up on ya fast they know what's up. Thanks Mike for another great video. To all Take Care and God Bless.
That cloud in the distance at the beginning of the video sure looks like it has a trailing tornado funnel being created. I'm originally from Kansas.....any time we saw that we started making plans for leaving the area if necessary
When I ran on the forest they made us rest a pasture. Rest rotation is what they called it. The cattle didn’t impact the riparian areas. The next year when we grazed the rested pasture it would produce more but we missed a year of feed on it. I don’t know if it worked any better than if we would have just utilized all the pastures
New Zealand's East coast of both Islands have not enough rain for nearly 2 years, just enough to keep it green sort of. We are going into winter with no Autumn growth, unless you have irrigation.
New subscriber. Love the videos! Very interesting. I have had just a wee bit of dairy farm experience in my teen years and still find it fascinating...
Just stopped out to the Farm Store for a few minutes.. gonna try some of your Jerky later on this evening. Was raining in town and it followed us out to Rozet
Hey Mike, one thing you do you always treat your cows good you spoil them with cake move them to greener pastures what more can a girl ask for. So whats next for OWL keep up the good work and see you in the next video🐂🎂🌾🤠😉
(Mike waxes philosophical...) Mike - the cows aren't following you. (The vagaries of weather.) Mike - the cows. (Life on the ranch) MIKE! THE COWS, MIKE! THE COWS! lol
Mike, when you spread out the cake like that, will a cow eat till full and stop or will they just keep on eating until nothings left. They did seem to be excited with the new grass...didn’t even move through to the field just stopped at the gate 🤣😂👍.
Here in the Philippines, we don't have what we consider the four seasons we have in the US. In the Philippines, the two seasons we have are wet and wetter. If we go a month without rain, it is considered a drought. Rain is life. Rain is the reason the tropics are green. Lack of rain is the reason why much of the western US is brown for most of the year.
Oh Man i wish i could ship you our rain. I hate it. We get rain for days and days. Nothing to see 20+ days a month of wet cr@p Average rain fall is 98 inches of rain a year

if U R large ranch land & its soil is fertile then U can cultivate Rhode grass but U need to go 200 feet or more down the ground to get water to irrigate the grass #
Mike hope I am not steping on any toes but unless you are using your AC in your gator you should turn it on time to time to keep it operational. it has happen to me
We're drowning in rain and tornado's here in Oklahoma. You can have some of this rain any day you want it! Would it help your hay fields to install a pivot? Or is a water issue where your located?
The state restricts how much water can be taken out of an aquifer... where they are located no sprinkler systems are allowed. I grew up in the Northwestern part of the state and we had an irrigation district... you shared access with all your neighbors and if you took more than you had been allotted they could cut you off entirely ... no sane person would risk that!
@@blakjak08 - yes because the state controls all the water access ... except for rain and ponds left be rain/snow melt. Anything that impacts the aquifer (underground water mainly) is especially tracked. Water from wells for household use is ok, and a bit for animal stock tanks, but irrigation... nope
@@janvafa9959 not contradicting what your saying, but just curious, my family owns couple thousand acres west of the Wind River range and we have 7 pivots for over 1,000 acres and have no problem with water restrictions...so this doesn't make sense to me as to why pivots would be a problem on that side of the state.
This is a good American family. Proud of them carrying on Gilbert's pride and joy. God bless them plse lord
Thank you, and I appreciate you saying that. Thanks again!
Why don’t you call your cows
