MOTU Origins Skeletor & Demogorgon ( Stranger Things) Two pack Figure Review!

- This is a review of the Masters of the Universe Origins Skeletor and Demogorgon figure set that was inspired from the Netflix Stranger Things show and crossed over with the MOTU Origins line as a two pack that is a Target Exclusive.
Update! the fire effects can also clip onto the arms and hand. I discovered that after I uploaded this review. I added picks on my Instagram profile @ manchild497
That Skeletor's coloring reminds me a lot of the original vintage colors. And that gorgon "flower" head might look cool on the tmnt moss-man. You've sold me, I'm in for a set. 😄
Thanks for watching as always! Yeah, the colors look very vintage inspired, but metallic in the armor. The Demogorgon is the best part. That hellfire staff is a really cool accessory with the flames. Those flames can also attach to the arms of the Demogorgon. I forgot to film that. It's a great set to mix in the Origins line👍

Love this set, gotta see where I can get it in Europe. This Skeletor headsculpt is actually my favorite, it only suffered from the paintjob it got in Wave 1. This one looks great!

That Skeletor can be very useful for custom setups or that head sculpt. I think places like Smyths or The whole Shabang might have preorders available for this set overseas down the road 👌

I love that they used the Skeletor V1 head! It's not the best head ( that would be the ROE Skeletor head with ruby eyes) but it is way better than the other versions. I also can't wait to swipe that armor of that other thing and toss it on Moss or Beast Man!
Yeah, it's a unique design and colors for Skeletor. That head is definitely cool. The Demogorgon is my favorite figure in that line. The gold beastman armor looks great on beastman 👍

The skeletor has the proper face paint. The way it was SUPPOSED TO BE APPLIED THE FIRST TIME origins came out

The flower was inspired by the rufflesia flower, I believe. I once was traveling through West Sumatra, Indonesia and a woman with a cacao farm approached me and said she had a rufflesia flower in bloom and she drove me to her house to see it in person. They only bloom and with vibrant color for 24 hours. They are really trippy.

Just found this set at target yesterday. I love the skeletor. His colors are fantastic.

This is definitely one of the…stranger crossovers that MotU has done! 😂 But it sort of fits in with the MotU theme, plus, let’s be honest, I’m sure the Stranger Things brand sells a lot more than MotU does. The packaging on this set is really cool too! People have been posting this showing up at their Target stores, so I went the other day wondering if one of mine would have it. No such luck, but they did have Sla’Ker!
So, as others have pointed on in the comments and in the Facebook groups, the colors on Skeletor seem to match up more with the vintage look of the figure. Personally, I don’t mind the brighter and more vibrant colors of Origins, but I can see the appeal of a more “muted” look that also fits in quite well with the muted aesthetic of the Upside Down.
The Demogorgon is…interesting. I only watched through Stranger Things once, but I feel like the creature should be bigger and less humanoid. I understand what Mattel is going for, integrating the physical appearance to fit with MotU, but sometimes you can tell they’re just making a quick buck. That head looks awesome; I was expecting you to do comparisons with Mutated Moss Man, as the two figures seem like a perfect match. I didn’t realize the Hellfire Staff accessory had those clip-on flames and the 20-sided die straight out of D&D. In the words of the young-uns…that’s pretty dope!

Yeah, I agree. This Stranger Things cross-over is a little strange with MOTU, but it will probably help sell figures a little better, as you mentioned with the Stanger Things brand. Targets have been getting a bunch of newer stock MOTU figures from what I read in the comments. I guess it depends on the store and location. I wasn't sure what the overall idea was with Skeletors colors. But apparently, it goes back to the vintage Skeletor, as you also mentioned as well as other people in the comments. I don't have a vintage Skeletor, and I don't remember his exact colors, but they were darker. Yes, those fire effects clip on to the arms as well. I just realized that after I uploaded the video. I bring that Demogorgon figure back into my TOG Teela review real quick and point that correction out.
I was thinking about bringing the mutated Mossman figure in for a comparison, but I felt it was very important because the Stranger Things is its own thing going on different from the TOG figures even though they share some parts. Thanks for watching. As always, Damon 👌
Wow the Skeletor is pure vintage (apart from the head) very tempted to find this set just for that. I always did prefer the darker purple. The Demogorgon is pretty cool

The staff is named after the hellfire club from the last season i beleave. It was a DnD club that the character Eddie was the leader of.
After seeing skeletor here it looks fantastic. Much better than the first one. I think this might be my main skeletor if I can find a set.
That's for checking out the review and sharing that info! Yeah, I'm not exactly sure about the hidden details about the name and designs on that staff. There's no info online that I can find about it for this set. I just guessed from what I see and understand about the show. But you could be correct. That Skeletor has some cool looking vintage inspired colors. I think this set should show up in certain Targets around summertime!👌

I gave the Deomgorgon to my nephew without the armer because he didn't care. I kept the armor and put it on Beast Man for an alt look (like you did in this review) and I really like the colors for Skeleton so that will be my default on the shelf. I got it for 10 dollars off at Target so it was worth the cost. I couldn't justify full price. Thanks for the review!

Yeah that Demogorgon figure can work well without the armor on and it really looks good on beastman as you mentioned putting that armor on him now. The Skeletor has vintage inspired colors going back to the early 80s figure. I didn't have a vintage Skeletor anymore to compare too.

he looks like a custom stratos... with the red belt and blue furr loincloth. i really really wish they had changed up the colors for Demogorgon.
I guess it was to be expected that they would be using a lot of parts from another buck like beastman or Stratos for this figure. The colors are supposed to look like skin with fur. I love MotU and I love Stranger Things. I don’t know if I need the 2 together. That looks pretty cool though, and that staff is amazing. Sad when the weapon is the best thing in the package, lol. Not bad though. If I ever run across it I’ll probably pick this up, but I don’t think I’ll hunt this down.

I really like that Skeletor. Demogorgon looks alright. How much was the set? It didn't even show up on the Traget site when I looked.
The Skeletor looks really good with the paint job now compared to the regular release. The Demogorgon has an interesting design. This wasxan online order that sold put on Target a few months back. I can't even find it in the search now, either. It's supposed to also show up in stores later this summer. I think I paid 39.99 plus shipping online.

@Skully_VR24 I wonder if it was the Demogorgon from Mcfarlane toys that broke. I have that one, and it has weak joints. This Demogorgon figure is built much simpler and better. These sets are being found in certain target stores now. Thanks for checking out the review.

@Skully_VR24 Oh, ok. I didn't know they made one. The Mcfarlane one is as good as it gets with details. But it has very loose joints. This Origins Demogorgon is much easier to maintain.

Call me crazy but I think this darker skin tone is vintage inspired. I still have my vintage skeletor and it looks exactly the same. At least on camera.
Yeah, I think you might be right about the colors being vintage inspired with the body. I don't have a vintage Skeletor anymore. But I remember it was darker. I'm not sure if the armor had metallic colors like this. The Origins version does.

I think this set will be useful for parts if nothing else. Do the flame effects happen to be able to be clipped on a figure's forearm?

I didn't know the Beast Man armor was gold til your review, might look good on Moss Man too. I've got some plans for some customs with the Demogorgon that I hope will work out once I get him in hand & can bring all the parts together. I think the washed out colors on Skelly & the upcoming He-Man from the Vehcna 2-pack will look nice together. A Faker done in this more muted blue would look nice too, I think.

Aside from it just being a cool update & a chance to own all these cool characters from MOTU, I think my favorite part of the line is the ability to mix & match parts, so I'm curious about all that stuff 😄

The Demogorgon is sweet but Mattel dropped the ball on Skeletor. The early photos had a beautiful marbled look to it and that's completely absent here.
Thank God I'm not a Stranger Things fan. If this drops to 15 bucks or so I may pick it up down the road otherwise it's an easy pass for me.
Thanks for checking out the review! Yeah, the promotional picks of Skeletor had a very glossy appearance. He looks like they decided to paint him with vintage inspired colors. I'm not sure if he was supposed to be Marbilized. The Demogorgon is by far the coolest figure in that set!👍

Stranger Things has never had anything to do with Motu.....it's amazing how desperate Mattel has become to make sales on ANYTHING....... this pack is lame as F. It's just a plain Skeletor with some ugly flower head monster that has NOTHING to do with Motu

@@Themanchlid I appreciate they’re doing these crossovers. But I think they need to jump back into the 200X and vintage origins more consistently. There are so many characters that they can be releasing as well. But obviously, I understand why they’re doing the crossovers. It’s awesome that the line is going strong and long, but I would love to see more 200X and even classics iterations. Love that they are releasing geldor and demo man. Hopefully that’s a sign that will be getting characters like count marzo(200X style), castle grayskull man, horde prime, horde wraith, faceless one, etc.
@TheWandifan Yeah, I definitely agree with you. The Origins line has put out a lot of stuff so far. It's been a real mix of figures. We got a couple of 200x inspired figures, and people definitely want more. But they sell in limited numbers. I guess Mattel is trying to push more crossover properties to market the brand with more popular franchises like the Turtles and Stranger Things now in hopes of drawing more collectors' interests to both brands. It's risky but can strengthen or hurt the brand. Time will tell, I guess 👌
