I have a feeling that Cobra Commander is pulling the strings here. He just seems like the sort of guy to orchestrate all of these battles. Not only to get Destro to completely join him. But to also gain more allies in Xamot & Tomax in his growing army.
I very much agree, it makes sense for Cobra Commander to pit these two factions/companies against each other, weakening both to the point where they become more dependent on Cobra & more motivated to work for them.
Desto has to have an extensive wardrobe because he's got that swagger. Even if it's just in black, red, silver, and yellow, they need to give us more of Destro's wardrobe
@@Moonbase3 You picked a great property with many moving parts, so regular updates are awesome. You don't pretend to be a GIJoe/Transformers expert, so there are movements where I feel I am learning stuff with you. I was a child of the 80s who grew up with GIJoe/Transformers but I don't know everything. Also, I can't stress this enough: your story commentary is blended with art analysis. I know nothing about art past grade school, so it was pretty awesome when you pointed stuff out, and I recognized it elsewhere. This may seem basic, but negative space or dots vs. full color are a few examples. In the dot example, I grew up seeing that but never really knew why and didn't even really know it was a question that could be asked. I'm a supporter, and as you grow, I'll remember where I got my early Energon analysis and also how I pause to appreciate the why of art and not just the view of it. 🙌
Thanks, my friend! I consider that to be very high praise - I'm touched and very honored. I'll continue to strive to get better and up my analysis game. I appreciate your support and I'm glad you're with me on this journey - it's very inspiring to me, honestly, so thank you. 😁🤗
I'm putting my chips down on Astoria being the third party, perhaps that's less interesting than other options but would mean a nice self-contained arc for the miniseries.
Several characters in the GI JOe franchise have answered to the name of "Overkill." There's the prototype BAT that you mentioned here, but the other prominent version comes from the "G.I. Joe vs Cobra" line of the early 2000s, where he was a cyborg. In the Devil's Due comics, Overkill was once RObert Skelton, the SAW Viper responsible for the murder of several Joes in Trucial Abysmia. After being injured in combat, he was rebuilt and enhanced as a cyborg. Since the BAT technology is relatively new, there might be a chance that this Overkill may be based on the Skelton version of the character, pre-cyborgization. Also, we'll have to wait and see if Chameleon is Baroness' half-sister or not in this continuity.
I did not expect to love the Destro comic as much as I did, but here we are! I loved seeing the world building: getting an insight on how the Crimson Guardsmen of Extensive Enterprises and Iron Grenadiers of MARS operated before joining under Cobra. It’s so cool to see all these different factions and units that, for years, went as untapped potential in every other GI Joe series (aside from Larry Hama’s series).
I’ve really been enjoying going and watching these videos as it gives me more ideas for my classified figures. Thank you for all you do man, I appreciate it
I had to go back and look at that conundrum, but Destro seemed too incredulous to have been behind the attacks. Personally, I think it's Cobra Commander - Occam's Razor. Agood issue made better after re-reading issue 1.
Moonbase, thank you for your content. Destro Verses the evil twins. Then the winner takes on the Comander for the top spot in Cobra. One shall stand...you know the rest! Great information as always. Thank you.
I'm loving the early antagonism between all these subgroups (or soon to be subgroups) of Cobra. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching! I appreciate it immensely!
Cartoon physics. Anything else ruins it. Like the movie nano-technology bonding with his skin. Or the IDW MASS device malfunction bonding him with the suit. Lame. It is a metal mask and we conveniently forget that to allow him to show emotion.
I was a little sad that CC didn't make an appearance as I feel hes been a very compelling antagonist so far, but really I can't complain; the Commander had his comic, this is about Destro. However as someone who has never been a fan of GI Joe (not that I didn't like it but I just never cared), I'm really liking these comics so far!
Cobra Commander is probably behind it, but there is probably someone else that the Commander is manipulating to be the front man. We know that the Commander already has his eyes on the Twins. And as you say, he was unhappy with Destro. This Commander seems better at keeping his people in line. Maybe the Commander is giving Darklon a chance to replace Destro, so the final issue is Destro vs Darklon. That's my prediction.

The panels with the BAT zombies go pretty hard.
It was a minor detail so i didn't pick up on the colour-coded narration boxes
The BATs have been a lot of fun in the various titles!

I feel like she's got to have a bigger part to play in all this...I would be surprised if her appearance was a one-off cameo.

I bet Cobra Commander has some kind of plan in place, pitting them against each other and he swoops in & assimilates MARS & EE into Cobra

I still don't know how does Destro's mask work.
It moves with his face but it's metal
