  • Judge Judy lectures four men about gun ownership, who are being sued for shooting the Plaintiff's car with a gun. After his stumpy friend gets thrown out of courtroom for trying to talk over Judge Judy, one idiot redneck subtly threaten's Judge Judy by saying, "You better watch him. You never know what people'll do these days." Judy rules against him, and asks Officer Bird to throw him out of the courtroom. On his way out, Dummy gets stuck because he can't figure out whether to pull or push the doors. "Push!" calls Bird. Priceless! Reminds me of this classic cartoon from "The Far Side."

There are now several of them. It totally eludes them that their cries are compelling evidence that there are a lot of stupid people owning guns. A psychological test should be a regular requirement of gun ownership, at the very least. A usage and storage test would be nice. An IQ test? I can see the utility, but it could exclude people from a right based on something that is essentially a genetic lottery. (Brave New World stuff).

@Nenethegreat W Are you sure about that? How could you preside over a court case with zero experience and even begin to understand any legal jargon?
Most judges start out as lawyers or attorneys; in most circumstances, it is impossible to be a lawyer or a judge without a Juris Doctor degree and passing the bar. "Judge" Judy, who is technically an arbitrator, was a prosecutor and a family court judge in Manhattan who had almost 30 years of experience before her reality TV show aired.

She never said IQ test would "prevent bad people from owning guns", but said an IQ test should be a thing you need to pass in order to own a gun. That is a big difference in meaning, and shouldn't be confused with each other.

      @alexandervandenburg9763 6 років тому +180

Hurting my feelings? I'm not the one who reverted back to the kindergarten comeback of "I'm not stupid! You are stupid".
Where in existence did *I* say we need to ban guns! Having requirements you need to meet is *NOT* a ban, it is *regulating* . Do not get those two things confused.
Also what's with this sad attempt of a threat? A threat that is based on my having a certain stance, one that I don't even have. The vast majority of the american people are in favor of gun *regulation* (not to be confused with gun banning, and that statistic would most likely apply to military as well.

So arguing with people on social media makes me a welfare bum that lacks a job, and who needs to get a life? I guess at this moment you must be working very hard as the leader of your own business, and not totally arguing with someone on social media. When do you get to decide what's worth it? I think you putting words in people's mouths is a perfect thing to argue against.
When did I say I respect the 2nd amendment? While I do see the amendments purpose in America as important, I do not deeply admire them. Who is "we all"? You and your 3 imaginary friends? Anyone else who doesn't live in your head can understand what I'm really saying.
      *Regulating Guns =/= Banning Guns*
I think there should be set things you need to do before being able to legally purchase and own guns. Theses include (but are not limited to) passing a test of sanity, and passing a certain success rate of hitting the targets with bullets. None of my "set things" involves being in a governmental position.
I am hoping you are a Poe, or else otherwise you need to take your tinfoil hat off.

He's not wrong though, there is nothing in principle stopping the government from appointing judges with no legal experience. In the same way that if the US army didn't want to train any of their soldiers, there is no law stating that they have to do so. The comments Judy made demonstrate a poor understanding of the constitution, going on a fishing expedition to find reasons to deny innocent Americans what she herself admits is their constitutional right. How does it constitute as a threat when he wasn't saying he was going to do it? Judy had said that some people "tend to become aggressive". He noted (in regards to someone else) that you never know what people might do and that you need to keep an eye on him as a result of her saying that he was aggressive. In no way was that a threat, and could easily be brought up in normal conversation. If my friend goes "He was aggressive towards me" and my response is "you never know what someone might do, you better keep an eye on him" that is in no way a threat. Context matters.

Because our 225-year old Bill of Rights, which most Americans hold dear, forbids it. The concept of a right to "keep and bear arms" was first codified in the English Bill of Rights of 1689 and adopted by this nation's Bill of Rights in 1791.
Based on our Constitution, we (the "We the People" of the preamble) have this "crazy notion" that we, not a ruling class, rule over this country. For many, our right to "keep and bear arms" is one symbol of that.
Further, this is a massive country with large areas not under the immediate protection of law enforcement. Finally, with many thousands of crimes, violent or otherwise, each year, many feel we do live in a virtual war zone.

The guests/contestants on "Judge Judy" have merely agreed ahead of time to abide by what a former judge on a Set (not a court room) decides. They get paid to be there and and they save the money that it would of cost them to go to an actual courtroom. In short....it's a tv show that is meant to entertain....nothing more.

So many sad people in the comments bad-mouthing Judge Judy. I think she is a devoted lady who has given a large portion of her life to making sure justice is served, which is alot more than most of us can say. It seems most people are hating on her because of her success in life. She deserves better. Smh.

There is also the liberal judge syndrome where the judge thinks she can change the constitution through her desires.
The people have a right to bear arms and it cannot be infringed upon.

Holy shit man judge Judy hit the nail on the head. Psych evals would be more than important for owning a gun. If you give someone a gun and they're completely unpredictable it could be hellfire. Not saying anything about gun rights needing to be stricter, but there should be an in depth process to make sure they don't get into the wrong hands, even though most criminals could care less about that stuff

The thing is... they actually want criminals to have guns, because it allows them to keep fighting their "war on crime" and justify sending more money into the hands of the gun manufacturers, the privatized for-profit prisons, and politicians who run on fear only to continue the cycle while in office.
