Nothing like Sam and Matt on a Saturday morning👍 Have a great weekend!
You Two, and your group are the Future of The Americas. From 82 old Mechanic and Equipment operator. Be Safe😀
After watching Matt it’s time to check in on Sam. Great Saturday morning as usual.
Think about how much fun it was to assemble and work on these things before battery impact guns and all the other tools we have today.
What they called 'sheet metal' back in the day, most manufacturers today would call 'plate steel'!
This is true!
Sam, great stuff. You need to take the Terex over to Matt's and put up his overhead crane so he doesn't poke holes in the valve cover anymore.😄
It might be on that mission!
I want to think that the Power company GOUGE to run power to Matt has set back his overhead crane... I know it would have set me back..
OMG, I agree 100%!
The Bay City shovel sure is a hefty family heirloom - generations sharing big iron is remarkable.
I really enjoy watching Sam's videos.
Thanks for sharing great video when you was talking about the receipt the USA didn’t enter the war until dec 7 1941 after they bombed Pearl Harbor so they wouldn’t have been able to get one if they had waited 6 months
That scrapbook of the restoration was brilliant.
The family history with this machine is awesome!
Thanks! I was glad Scott found that binder with all of the goodies!
Matt is always talking about doing this or that with your help, I thought you were a good guy for giving him a hand, it's great to see you two get things done. Hats off to both of you 🙂
Thanks for letting us hangout.
Sam and Matt on a boring Saturday afternoon what could be finer!!!😀😀😀
That badge probably weighs at least as much as the entire rest of the panel.
I sure have taken to Your Channel & certainly glad You take the Time to Put the Vidja’s Out. You keep Posting & Illl Keep Watching, I ain’t Kiddin. Keep It Safe Out There Sir
Oh yeah. The T-Rex just keeps getting better and better. 👍🏻😎
Great video Sam. You really have the needed patience to work on this old iron.
I worked in an oil rig construction yard (many years ago) and they used to use a 32000kg capacity Hyster forklift, with a tubular on one fork to lift the motors out of the Manitowok 4000,4100 and 4600 for maintenance and repairs 🏴👍🏻
Great Job getting ur 41 cat motor-out.
Great idea, can't wait for the next episode Sam , keep us all posted love the old school mechanics,
Nice job Sam you and Matt have engine fever this week lol take care buddy all the best 🔧🔧🔧👍👌❤️
Great work guys keep on wrenchin 👍
It is great to have close friends to lend a hand.
Nice job getting it pulled out.
lived in bay city m.i for over 30 years .. never knew thay made a crane ... lol guess i should get out more..
Those photos are amazing and how cool is it that you’ve been able to keep it in the family. 😎
You might need to give Matt @dc some encouragement and some help with that Cummins! 😳😅😎
Yep. Matt’s Cummins definitely needs some Sam input. 👍🏻
Several years ago, during a addition build to a manufacturing facility, the employees of the company were concerned about diesel smoke and smell even though we had constructed a temporary wall between. They contacted the city health people to test the air. After all the excitement it was determined that the levels of CO were well within safety levels. One of the company's LP forklifts drove by the tester and sent the meter into fits. As it turned out their forklifts far exceeded toxic safety levels. Had to smile after that!:)😊
Man there’s some great history and photos there
The T-REX with a dual fuel capability will be very handy, should make life a lot easier anyway. Will be interesting to watch the switch over, I wish you the best on this project. Thanks for the update and for taking the time to produce the videos.
YEOOWWWL!!! That sounds like a bunch of episodes and a lot of engineering. Should be fun!
Nice video. I’m amazed how chill you are. It seems like nothing frustrates you.
Except forgetting to turn on a camera.😂
Nice to see Mr Diesel Creek there!!
Brilliant video Sam watching from Edinburgh Scotland UK 🇬🇧 👏 👌
I hope you give that engine bay a thorough cleaning. 👍
Was great to see the picture with your Grandpa in it. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@ScrappyIndustries I have always appreciated your Grandpa!!! Great Man!!!
Thanks Sam for the Saturday morning coffee break. Great video.
That came out pretty easy. Nice to have a refurbished unit to work on.
And you beat your deadline by 3 minutes.
Bummer the T-Rex gave you fits. Still working the kinks out. I think you have just about fixed everything on it. Still a score.
Cheers.
This came up on my feed. BC of Matt @ Diesel Creek, I took a look. Good video, well shot, and interesting. Surprised to see Matt show up!
Great project Sam and Matt lots of minor problems but we know that you two will get everything to work
It's always a great day when I get to hang out with sammy.
Back in the late sixties I worked as grade man for a small excavation contractor here in Wisconsin. The excavator was a Bantom cable machine with the "screaming jimmy"! I failed my test ( thank goodness) and never got invited again😊
For health reasons, why not install through door/wall exhaust hose exits for both of the fumes? It is only a 5 or 6 inch hole that the aluminum sleeve sits in. Over the last 50 years I have installed 25 or 30 of them in automotive service bay doors, walls and gas station doors. Now I don't remember if I bought them through McMaster or Grainger but I still see them around.
Sam “awe you kidding me I didn’t have that recording”
Matt “god dammit”
😂😂
Sam and Matt! It can't get any better! Thanks guys for making my weekend! Take care!
Thanks for watching!
always good to see you and Diesel Creek together. Thank you guys for keeping this stuff running and taking us along
A new or rebuilding the regulator will help greatly. The diaphragms get stiff and less sensitive. Also with a manometer (inches of water) there is a spec for the amount of propane out of the regulator. Sounds like you have a regulator that isn't putting anything out until it sees a negative pressure on the venturi.
I wonder if my grandpa ever worked on this crane he was a traveling mechanic for bay city worked all over us and Canada
Nice work on an old machine. If your going to use the crane a lot indoors, fit a cats whisker style limit switch to the top of the jib wired as an upper limit. That way the crane will stop before punching thru the roof. Just an idea. All the best.
Sam I'm so glad youre gonna fix the propane issue because that exhaust fume thing is bad even in a big shop.
Whatever you decide on that Cat is gonna be much better than the one the that was in there and I'm gonna enjoy watching you rebuild it.
I hope you realise that you're Big Mac has spoiled Matt so he wants to make the Autocar into a cool highway beast I know you're gonna help him with the Cummins and get it back to top performance at least I hope you are but then again yep I know you are..
It's always a good day when you two post videos.
Wow .. what a fun project. Keep us up to date. 👍👍👍
Enjoyed the video.
A couple of big fishing magnets would come in handy for moving heavy sheets of steel. They’re relatively cheap too.
Great video Sam. Good to see Matt.
Good post Sam!
hello Scrappy Lndustries & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Friends Randy

Good video!
Enjoy watching you two together. Great work..🇦🇺🍺🍺

Interesting content Sam 😊😊😊
Nice action an cool viritey 👍
Good video,peace…
Watch your fingers Sam!😊
Mrs DieselGas! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Dec 7 1941 We declared war. 6 months after they bought this.
The date on the invoice was before the U.S.A. entered WW 2.
Great video bro and a wee cameo from Matt too. Safe travels. Ken.
Nice 👍👍👍👍👍
They work great together Matt & Sam👍👍🍮🍮
Yes we are usually on the same page and that helps a lot lol
Precision backlash checkerooni!
That Shovel was Built a 1/4 mile from me .
Fuel bleeding down is a check valve try running dextron 2 in your fuel
Thumbs up 👍
LOL the cap bill keeps you from seeing what you're about to collide with. A place I used to work had a half platform landing that was a little over head height. It took me a long time to learn to put one hand on the support beam when walking under it. You knew it was there and without the hand on if for reference you could walk smack into it and see stars. With a hand on it you knew when to duck and if you walked in to your hand, at least the head didn't hurt so much.
That's Diesel for you Sam 👍 👍
Hi Matt and sam😊
In May 1941 the US had not yet been drawn into the second world war. Our economy was going like gangbusters making equipment and munitions for the rest of the world but there was not any rationing or restrictions on production .
Hello hello nothing like working on an engine That has history behind it you're hoping that you chose the original you know I know it's more work. I started watching your channel because of that diesel Creek and I got hooked down it after about a month 6 weeks What's not hooked in the beginning But I enjoy your group of friends And I enjoy the trucking videos From pick up hauling and unloading You get the full meal deal on your channel thank you And I'm hoping your channel will grow😊
up UP yup hold up
That mixture is what I call A diesel syrup additives cocktail blend for A engine helper outter solution. It is your machine after all anyways. I'm just tossing out there A few old-school back in those days remedies to try.,or can be used and still safe. And helps out with removing emissions while the engine is up and running to. It does self clean out. There is A additives out called STA-BIL fuel treatment fuel stabilizer for all types of fuel just about almost that is. There is A few that isn't included in those fuel line ups still out though to. Anyways good 🤞 luck on your engine rebuild and reinstallment to.
WWII started on Dec 7th 1941... bought months before the war started
You need to put an exhaust port in the door behind the crane to get rid of exhaust fumes.
How lucky can you get, Sam ? 🤣🤣 --- Diesel Cheeks cameo at the ready ! 🤣🤣
I have video of this machine running in 1999
In regard of the propane system, I think you got an Impco system. The Impco style variable venturi systems are quite good, they should work more than fine for your application. A rebuild kit should solve your issue. Systems of later date, with a fixed 'nozzle-ring' over the carb work well, yet perform less.
Thicker fuel could be the temporary resolve of your issue.
Thing of a bob Close quaters
You need to get a hook that attaches to to the forks like a lil wrecker
MM77 Approved 👍🏻👍🏻
Knowing what the (wrenchbarthingamabob) remember kids proper knowmenclature is essential!. Thanx for the content have a great day.....
Mrs. Diesel Gas lol
Pretty cool episode for a fairly new subscriber like me.
I will be going back onto your library and checking out past episodes.
It's thanks to Matt Diesel Creek that I became aware of your channel.
Nice to see a brief cameo of him there wrenching on that engine.
Really interesting dive into the history of that digger and the scrap book definitely was cool.
A fellow might think you guys are pros at engine removals from antique excavation equipment.
Definitely wanna see an episode of swapping the Trex over to a new modern propane system.
at 8:39 I swear I thought i was looking at either a lego, guys head, or Ike from south park. please add lego people features to every air cleaner that you have.
That engine was wet stacking BAD at 18:28! (Usually caused by fuel system issues or not putting a proper load on the engine)
first harley davidson is amazing for me sir
