    In this video I show you how I made this Epoxy Resin tray with a new mould I purchased on Amazon by Let's Resin.
    The mould was perfect .. it was so easy to use and created no bubbles around the edge. This happens a lot when I use my Geode coasters.
    In this video you will see the struggles I had attaching the handles. The screws that came with the pack were too long for the handles. The tray could not be any deeper as I filled the mould to the top. This then resulted in me not being able to get them out. It was most frustrating as we know resin projects take time so I really looking forward to the completed project.
    I have contacted Let's Resin and told them that the screws were not fit for purpose.
    I would however, fully recommend the kit .. as the mould is perfect and can be used over and over again. New handles will need to be purchased for any future trays anyway so I may buy a second or similar tray.

    ***UPDATE*** .. I ordered more handles from Amazon last night. They came today. They came with 2 different length screws and neither fit. They really are designed for kitchen cupboards. **Advice moving forward** .... Place handles in to the resin before it sets.

      Hi Claire.
      Beautiful tray!
      I've seen moulds on eBay for tray handles. Thought you'd like to know!
      Stay safe!!

    • @amethyst1826
      @amethyst1826 3 роки тому

      Also, Artsy Madwoman used super glue then pressed down (like Cathy suggested). She then made sure to get the resin thoroughly around the handles, to create better grip!
      I wish I'd watched both your videos, yours & Artsy Madwomans, before I did my tray. So my first tray is just going to be a 'practice slab.' 🤣🤣
      Although I could add more resin to make it thicker, and see how the handles work with the glue & resin!

    I had the same screw problem with a craft tray. The problem isn’t the handles at all, it’s the screws. Go to the hardware store with the screws that you have which are too long, show them how much shorter you need them and they will show you the right size you need.
    Take care and stay safe.

    • @ClairesCraftyCorner
      @ClairesCraftyCorner  4 роки тому

      Ahhhh did you... yeh its frustrating. Yessss exactly what I was saying .... the screws are too long xxx which is a shame as they come as a kit .... i bought more with shorter but still too long lol ... its way easier just putting the handlea directly in the resin i think ... If the tray is purely for decoration its perfect ... I think if the tray was for a functional use then the screw in method would be best for sure xx

    Hey C Bizzle love this one honey there's something mesmerizing about watching resin pours. A couple of quick tips for ya -
    1 if you place a strip of masking tape across the holes in the handle you can mark the holes with your sharpie then peel off the masking tape and stick it on your tray, that way you know exactly where to drill.
    2. if you clamp the screw into your vice (I know you have one) you can use a hacksaw to trim off the end. Then use your sander to take off any burrs and hey presto shorter screw. You can also do it using a pair of pliers instead of a vice but obvs it's slightly tougher. Failing that if you have a belt or disc sander you can hold the screw with pliers and simply sand it down to the length you need.
    Keep being awesome sweetheart love and hugs DG...xx

    That is one seriously sparkly tray 😀. Well done. I admire your confidence in just ' going for it '. Definitely paid off. Shame about the handles. You could just add rubber feet and not bother with the handles as the tray is for perfume. You could maybe try a flood coat and place the handles into that. I haven't done this so no idea if it works, just seen others do it. Either way be very proud of your first resin tray 😀.

    • @ClairesCraftyCorner
      @ClairesCraftyCorner  3 роки тому

      OK, so after reading about the resin and reading the reviews on it ... it would seem others have had difficulty too.
      Some good advice on the reviews is to place both bottles in warm to hot water for 5 mins before mixing. This will soften them up and help reduce air bubbles.
      It also says it is 1:1 but someone had problems with it still be soft and always had some left over of one part.
      This probably means it is 1:1 by weight not volume.
      If you are pouring them in 2 separate cups and eye balling it ... this might be a problem.
      Try weighing them instead .. 1:1 ratio resin is often by weight. One weighs more than the other.
      Other factors could play a part .. the resin says it is slow curing up to 3 days. So mix for at least 3 mins ... at least.... pour in to a second cup to ensure its all together. Mix again for 2 mins.
      If your room is cold the resin will take days to dry and longer to cure.
      Also ... what you put in your resin could be having an effect. You do not want to put too much additive (ink, powder or paste) to your resin as it comprises the resin.
      I hope these help .. some of the reviews were great but some were very bad. So it is hard to say what is going wrong xx Keep me posted ❤❤❤

    Beautiful tray Claire. I've been wanting to make some for a while but they look like they need a lot of resin. How much did it take? xx
