I agree with Tim and Andy in that this is probably outright one of the strongest MCU projects and soundtracks overall. I really resonated with Nick's points around the grading and general feel of this show. Between the incredible cast, powerful score, and stunning visuals... you get an immersive, emotional, and rewarding masterpiece. It deserves recognition during award season.
Absolutely agree with Tim and Andy although Greg and Nick had fair points, its just frustrating that gregs review for The Marvels sounded just like this one and Loki is leaps and bounds better than that movie

The best in Phase 4/5 (idk anymore), only followed by No Way Home and Shang Chi. Loki's arc have been AMAZING and this show basically rounded his character up and gave it a conclusive ending. What a show!
This was absolute top tier MCU. It stands alongside Infinity War, Winter Soldier, Homecoming, Daredevil S1/S3 and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S2/S4. It was incredible.

Totally respect their honest opinions, it's just a lot more fun and interesting hearing from folks who are still invested and have some sort of an attachment to this type of content. Hearing "meh, it's ok" from something else that seems to be universally liked by fans just isn't engaging content.
I think the thing that made the MCU so great is what is currently hurting it which is expectations. Too many people have extremely high expectations for where they personally want things to go and when they don’t everybody immediately dumps on whatever project it is
I agree, with a mixture of fatigue. I think we have just been so beaten over the head with superheroes for so many years that unless they do something incredible - it just feels like more of the same.
I don’t think what marvel is putting out now is their best I just don’t think it’s too far from the quality of phase 1 and 2 and people still love those movies
100% a lot of the phase 4 and so far 5 stuff have been really strong but everyone loves saying mcu died at endgame it's crazy to me. I think She Hulk, Secret Invasion, and Eternals were the only black marks in my opinion, and Secret Invasion wasn't even bad as much as it was a letdown. People will start to change their tune when we start having more teamups and the threads start coming together, if anything the MCU is disjointed rn going in a lot of different directions.

What an at times achingly slow paced show, but damn that last episode, the wait was so worth it. Possibly the best pay off/ending for a char so far? Easily the best villain though, although to be fair, a whole 2 series and the movies to create that arc, but I was in tears at the end. And as others have said, THAT score, omg!!
I don't think Victor was lying about the scaling problem. He was making a conclusion that made sense. He had no idea the loom was a fail safe. He was duped just like Loki and the rest of the gang.
The real sad thing about Morbious/Owen Wilson is his wife is gone . At the time his wife is gone it’s probably because she was snapped away by Thanos and the unsnapping hasn’t happened yet

I really think it's about time the KF crew individually ranks the entire MCU and then tallies it all up with points like they do Game of the Year. Movie with the most points is 1st on the list and so on. It would be interesting to see how that list would differ to the this one but also every time they rank something now it's met with "what happened" and "i can't rank it above that but it's way better than that so..."
I lean more towards Andy/Tim but do agree with a lot of criticisms Greg/Nick had. I really do think Marvel/Disney has to start releasing these episodes all at once going forward, they do not hold up week to week imo even with this one which I think is top tier Marvel.

I agree. Especially for the projects they watched when they first came out brand new vs the movies that were watched in review a second or multiple times after it came out in the case of many of the older main series movies. They were extra high or low on some movies and their opinions changed not only getting off the high of the opening night, their opinions might have changed based on what some movies set up or what they mean now to the main canon and how they fit vs how they were originally presented without knowing what came later.
I totally agreed with nick on the whole Loom thing. That choice was definitely the wrong one. His whole shy stuttering thing was so weird and definitely didnt work for me

Hot Take? I don’t think the MCU should have individual seasons ranked. I think each season should mean that the ENTIRE show can and should move based on the quality of the show as a whole. Luckily Season 2 landed right below season 1 in the rankings but I think they should be together anyway.
Nah, you gotta do each season individually. They tell their own stories and have different showrunners. You wouldn't rank Iron Man 1-2 together as one project.

Hard disagree. What makes having a list like this great is that it ranks everything against each other. In fact, I'd love to see them eventually go through the Marvel Television-produced MCU projects and add them to the list.
Just to correct Tim at the beginning: he says Loki S2 was showran by Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, and that they're also showrunning "Daredevil: Born Again." This isn't true. Marvel Studios didn't do showrunners for their shows; "Born Again" will be the first to do it, and it's not Benson & Moorhead. They directed most of Loki S2 & will be directing most of Born Again. They are directors, not showrunners. Also to clarify the ending there, Mobius is visiting the Sacred Timeline and seeing what his original life was meant to be like, hence why he's watching his original timeline self with the kids. He's watching the life "he" (on paper) was meant to have.
I think something that needs to be harped on more is the fact that this is a show that has "X" amount of episodes for a reason. I know the D+ shows and TV in general can sometimes miss and have episode counts that exist purely to hit a quota. But at the same time there are shows like Loki, Andor, Breaking Bad, Succession, etc... that purposefully do have "slower" less exciting episodes and they serve a purpose just as much as the big finale and cliff hangers. There is importance in utilizing the show format to slow things down and give viewers breathers and episodes that seemingly in the moment aren't the best. But the best shows by the end will take those same moments and use them as building blocks to make their bigger moments that much better. Like Andy and Tim said, sure in the moment episode 3-4 (for most people) were not as great as 1-2 and 5-6, but they were incredibly important in making those episodes better. I feel like judging a show on an episode by episode basis sort of misses that element. There's a reason TV and Movies are treated and done differently, something Disney until recently didn't recognize and the product was worse for it. Just as books can have dozens of pages of exposition and character/world building that don't work in movies/tv, TV has things that Movies simply can't too. This show was special and deserves all the praise it gets.
Maybe I'm just dumb, but how did this get 11? Two voted at 15/16, one at 11, and one at 7. So the majority ranked it lower, wouldn't that put Loki 2 at 15?
Nick was referring to Jean Giraud, a comic artist who went by 'Moebius'. He also worked on a lot of concept designs for sci-fi shit like Alien and the unmade Jodorowsky Dune adaptation. Also Science with Kev failed us... Mobius strip is not the same thing as Ouroboros, the only thing they have in common is that they are a circle, lmao. Mobius Strip is when two ends of a rectangular strip are attached together with a half twist. It's got some sort of fancy mathematical significance.
Loki needed to focus on the sacrifice he ultimately made at the end of the season; himself. What he was trying to avoid (loneliness) caused him to be lonely in slipping constantly through time to try and save everything. All of this resulted in him essentially being alone burdened with the glorious purpose of holding the timelines together. No physical relationships with anyone, rather, just the thoughts of what could be.
For as much as this show gets right, I do agree with Greg and Nick that the show suffered some slack and just wasn't as tight as it could of been. I feel like Sylvie was underwritten and being told why things matter over being shown, really was a thing for the middle to latter part of the show. That said this is one of the best character arcs in the MCU - Loki right up there with Cap and Tony. That ending will stay with me for a while. I do think we could of had a better appreciation of this season if it came out a lot earlier in phase 4 of the MCU.

Tried an experiment and Loki 2 confirmed. You are doing yourself a disservice by watching these shows week to week. They are not designed as normal TV and the pacing suffers significantly because of that. It is far more enjoyable as a binge, even 2-3 episodes as a time is better

The thought of MCU shows was tantalizing, but has just been a massive waste of potential. I was expecting something premier and this was the closest I've seen, but comparing any D+ shows to the best of HBO or Netflix and it is well behind in terms of overall quality
No one is going to talk about how uncharacteristically Loki this MCU version is? Loki is supposed to be egotistical, ruthless, lustful, selfish... Why would he care to save different worlds/universes or innocent people?
This season ended really strongly, but most of the show I had a hard time caring about the conflict when the scope of it is so unimaginably large. Since there are an infinite number of timelines and people affected by the TVA's actions, I just found it hard to care about anything except Loki's character (and what a payoff!). Whenever they tried to make us care about the people in the timelines, it felt cringy. A lot of things needed to be handwaved away to progress the plot, which also made it seem like nothing really mattered. The temporal aura solution read as just an excuse to bring the cast back together. The inevitable failure of the loom seemed predictable, so the multiple attempts were just a drag, but at least they were used as an excuse to turn Loki into a 5/6/7-dimensional being. Mid-tier show, god-tier last scenes.
Thank you Nick for calling out the Victor Timely performance. It was so, so unbelievably bad, but so many people seem to have loved it. I don't get it.
I guess it just comes down to preference. I thought he was annoying at first but by the end I actually got sad when he didn't get the book at the end. I legit wanted more of him.

I don't think an "actual" villain was ever clearly stated and somehow got in the Top 15. Love you guys, but at this point I'm wondering why these rankings even exist.
Sylvie sucked so freaking much this season. Surprising since she was good last season. Her constant whining/blaming everyone even tho SHES THE CAUSE of this. And no one calls her out for it. Otherworse great season. A bit of an ass pull tht loki has the power to power to multiverse though
I cant decide if she was just whiny and the actress could have taken the line delivery in a different direction, or if it was strictly the writing. She definitely should have been more integral to the story.
They called her out on it like the first episode of the season. Dox was pissed about it. Then Loki told her about herself multiple times. She comes to terms with it in the final episode.

I don’t think you’re giving much credit to the cleverness of the writing in this show. They took a selfish god who only ever wanted a thrown and to rule over people and have great power and gave him the thrown he desired from the beginning and made it a gut wrenching selfless sacrifice for the betterment of the universe. I think it’s incredibly well done.

At the very least I wish He Who Remains could have explained to Loki that he has the power to take his place or even better, they could have eluded to this at the beginning of the season and have he season be all about Loki struggling with this decision. Instead this season focused on other characters a lot more than Loki so his final decision wasn’t as impactful for me. It just didn’t feel as earned as it could have.

I almost think you should just have Blessing, Roger, or Barrett fill Greg or Nick's place on MCU in Review. I know they were on screencast, but maybe keep them off that show from now on and save them for this. They were much more invested, whereas it feels like Loki was kind of a chore to cross off for Greg and Nick.
Nick is basically me with Episode 3, but unlike him, I just couldn't stand watching it anymore, not to mention that I do find the time period its set in to be rather boring & uninteresting.
About the lines "those are people" that people find cringe and kinda meaning less because we know nothing about those timelines? I think it kinda neat that it was referenced by Sylvie in E4 when she confront Mobius about it, she literally called it out, because Mobius (and us) didn't see what happened on those timeline, so those mean nothing to him (and us) and it's just a bunch of numbers. And guess what, B-15 still sad about it, it showing she's caring person and in Episode 5 we got to see her as a doctor who loving and caring for people, so it kind of a hint to her past, like how Mobius with the jet ski, O.B. with the book, and maybe Casey with the naive but still actually intelligence (Frank Morris the guy was supposed to be Casey's past was reported as in the top 2% of the general population in intelligence). So it make me feel like everything has a purpose in this show.
Can we please get people on In Review who are actually invested? I said it above in someone else's similar comment to yours, but I appreciate their spectrum of opinions. Sometimes I feel like Tim is too inside and too hyped and the others are more realistic or measured, but I appreciate Tim's enthusiasm. You have the same situation when nick was so low on Fast 5 or other situations others had in other review shows.
MCU is in a bit of a lull right now, with NWH and GOTG3 in the rear view mirror the road up ahead is murkey, blaming people for not Vibin' with the product D+ putting out is weak imo.

I really think it's about time the KF crew individually ranks the entire MCU and then tallies it all up with points like they do Game of the Year. Movie with the most points is 1st on the list and so on. It would be interesting to see how that list would differ to the this one but also every time they rank something now it's met with "what happened" and "i can't rank it above that but it's way better than that so..."
I lean more towards Andy/Tim but do agree with a lot of criticisms Greg/Nick had. I really do think Marvel/Disney has to start releasing these episodes all at once going forward, they do not hold up week to week imo even with this one which I think is top tier Marvel.

I agree. Especially for the projects they watched when they first came out brand new vs the movies that were watched in review a second or multiple times after it came out in the case of many of the older main series movies. They were extra high or low on some movies and their opinions changed not only getting off the high of the opening night, their opinions might have changed based on what some movies set up or what they mean now to the main canon and how they fit vs how they were originally presented without knowing what came later.

Hot Take? I don’t think the MCU should have individual seasons ranked. I think each season should mean that the ENTIRE show can and should move based on the quality of the show as a whole.
Luckily Season 2 landed right below season 1 in the rankings but I think they should be together anyway.

In fact, I'd love to see them eventually go through the Marvel Television-produced MCU projects and add them to the list.
Just to correct Tim at the beginning: he says Loki S2 was showran by Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, and that they're also showrunning "Daredevil: Born Again." This isn't true. Marvel Studios didn't do showrunners for their shows; "Born Again" will be the first to do it, and it's not Benson & Moorhead. They directed most of Loki S2 & will be directing most of Born Again. They are directors, not showrunners.
Also to clarify the ending there, Mobius is visiting the Sacred Timeline and seeing what his original life was meant to be like, hence why he's watching his original timeline self with the kids. He's watching the life "he" (on paper) was meant to have.
I think something that needs to be harped on more is the fact that this is a show that has "X" amount of episodes for a reason. I know the D+ shows and TV in general can sometimes miss and have episode counts that exist purely to hit a quota. But at the same time there are shows like Loki, Andor, Breaking Bad, Succession, etc... that purposefully do have "slower" less exciting episodes and they serve a purpose just as much as the big finale and cliff hangers.
There is importance in utilizing the show format to slow things down and give viewers breathers and episodes that seemingly in the moment aren't the best. But the best shows by the end will take those same moments and use them as building blocks to make their bigger moments that much better. Like Andy and Tim said, sure in the moment episode 3-4 (for most people) were not as great as 1-2 and 5-6, but they were incredibly important in making those episodes better. I feel like judging a show on an episode by episode basis sort of misses that element.
There's a reason TV and Movies are treated and done differently, something Disney until recently didn't recognize and the product was worse for it. Just as books can have dozens of pages of exposition and character/world building that don't work in movies/tv, TV has things that Movies simply can't too.
This show was special and deserves all the praise it gets.

Loki needed to focus on the sacrifice he ultimately made at the end of the season; himself. What he was trying to avoid (loneliness) caused him to be lonely in slipping constantly through time to try and save everything.
All of this resulted in him essentially being alone burdened with the glorious purpose of holding the timelines together. No physical relationships with anyone, rather, just the thoughts of what could be.
Pretty crazy how two years in a row we got a story in November about a Loki discovering the god he was meant to be

For as much as this show gets right, I do agree with Greg and Nick that the show suffered some slack and just wasn't as tight as it could of been. I feel like Sylvie was underwritten and being told why things matter over being shown, really was a thing for the middle to latter part of the show. That said this is one of the best character arcs in the MCU - Loki right up there with Cap and Tony. That ending will stay with me for a while.
I do think we could of had a better appreciation of this season if it came out a lot earlier in phase 4 of the MCU.

Tried an experiment and Loki 2 confirmed. You are doing yourself a disservice by watching these shows week to week. They are not designed as normal TV and the pacing suffers significantly because of that. It is far more enjoyable as a binge, even 2-3 episodes as a time is better

I love this show so much and I hate this list so much
The thought of MCU shows was tantalizing, but has just been a massive waste of potential. I was expecting something premier and this was the closest I've seen, but comparing any D+ shows to the best of HBO or Netflix and it is well behind in terms of overall quality
No one is going to talk about how uncharacteristically Loki this MCU version is? Loki is supposed to be egotistical, ruthless, lustful, selfish... Why would he care to save different worlds/universes or innocent people?
This season ended really strongly, but most of the show I had a hard time caring about the conflict when the scope of it is so unimaginably large. Since there are an infinite number of timelines and people affected by the TVA's actions, I just found it hard to care about anything except Loki's character (and what a payoff!). Whenever they tried to make us care about the people in the timelines, it felt cringy. A lot of things needed to be handwaved away to progress the plot, which also made it seem like nothing really mattered. The temporal aura solution read as just an excuse to bring the cast back together. The inevitable failure of the loom seemed predictable, so the multiple attempts were just a drag, but at least they were used as an excuse to turn Loki into a 5/6/7-dimensional being. Mid-tier show, god-tier last scenes.

I don’t think you’re giving much credit to the cleverness of the writing in this show. They took a selfish god who only ever wanted a thrown and to rule over people and have great power and gave him the thrown he desired from the beginning and made it a gut wrenching selfless sacrifice for the betterment of the universe. I think it’s incredibly well done.

At the very least I wish He Who Remains could have explained to Loki that he has the power to take his place or even better, they could have eluded to this at the beginning of the season and have he season be all about Loki struggling with this decision. Instead this season focused on other characters a lot more than Loki so his final decision wasn’t as impactful for me. It just didn’t feel as earned as it could have.

I almost think you should just have Blessing, Roger, or Barrett fill Greg or Nick's place on MCU in Review. I know they were on screencast, but maybe keep them off that show from now on and save them for this.
They were much more invested, whereas it feels like Loki was kind of a chore to cross off for Greg and Nick.
Nick is basically me with Episode 3, but unlike him, I just couldn't stand watching it anymore, not to mention that I do find the time period its set in to be rather boring & uninteresting.
About the lines "those are people" that people find cringe and kinda meaning less because we know nothing about those timelines?
I think it kinda neat that it was referenced by Sylvie in E4 when she confront Mobius about it, she literally called it out, because Mobius (and us) didn't see what happened on those timeline, so those mean nothing to him (and us) and it's just a bunch of numbers.
And guess what, B-15 still sad about it, it showing she's caring person and in Episode 5 we got to see her as a doctor who loving and caring for people, so it kind of a hint to her past, like how Mobius with the jet ski, O.B. with the book, and maybe Casey with the naive but still actually intelligence (Frank Morris the guy was supposed to be Casey's past was reported as in the top 2% of the general population in intelligence).
So it make me feel like everything has a purpose in this show.

I said it above in someone else's similar comment to yours, but I appreciate their spectrum of opinions. Sometimes I feel like Tim is too inside and too hyped and the others are more realistic or measured, but I appreciate Tim's enthusiasm. You have the same situation when nick was so low on Fast 5 or other situations others had in other review shows.
MCU is in a bit of a lull right now, with NWH and GOTG3 in the rear view mirror the road up ahead is murkey, blaming people for not Vibin' with the product D+ putting out is weak imo.
