To me, the best skiers on the mountain are guys like this, who just rip down the mogul runs. Guys throwing flips in the terrain park is cool, but people who can shred bumps are the best skiers.
Skiing the bumps and making it look easy is much more impressive than someone doing flips in a terrain park, at least in my opinion.... to each his own... Cool Video, I'm 47 and I still do my best to ski them like I'm 18, never a perfect line, but skis are always tight and I'm making adjustments and recoveries all the way down!!
This is an excellent video.....the editing, filming and action. Nothing like huge spring bumps on KT. Very, very quality work and unbelievably good skiers, all of you.
I recently saw this video as part of Blizzard/Tecnica training after coming home from a Vail trip that was filled with icy bumps that I found kind of pointless. This video makes me stoked to learn to rip bumps as well as things like pow and park. Props to these guys.
I am 63 now and still can easily ski the bumps. Not as good as those pros but quite decently. And there was never a problem with the knees as this is a very smooth movement - just like doing squads. Skis should never be off the snow (otherwise it's hotdog skiing). But it needs an instructor to get into it - otherwise it takes forever to learn it. Good luck and enjoy the best skiing and the coolest slopes.
Back in 1977 I switched from racing to freestyle at my home ski area, Lake Eldora and a few years later a Pro Mogul Tour. Sometimes I went to Vail and would try and keep up with the likes of Bruce Dinnman Scott Brooksbank and other pioneers of freestyle skiing Highline without stopping.
I probably saw you there, with Andre, Brian McClary et al. I frankly like the “old” carving style better, and don’t get using wide skis in the bumps. Just slows you down from edge to edge.
marcus must have serious power to weight ratio to power through that kind of turn over bumps. great style. kind of scott schmidt -esque mixed with bump style and also some large fast turns
I could seriously watch Marcus Caston ski all day. Such a unique style with tons of personal flavor. The Return of the Turn series is magic - but will there be a new season? Of anything else new from Marcus? Anyone knows?
@@returnoftheturn3534 That. Is. Amazing. ! Really looking forward to that - the best news on this side of the New Year’s Eve. And I will sure stay tuned (both here and in my basement ”ski shop”)!
Hey man. Just rewatched this video again like many others below. Great o watch if you want to get stoked on mogul skiing again! Can't wait to see Volume 2. Come on back to Palisades and I'll show you my favorite bump runs. You don't need to ski only75 Chute to appreciate the bumps. There are many other places on the mountain with good bumps. Great video! Thanks again.
marcus doesnt have textbook style and his gear is unconventional but hes having fun and he's awesome to watch he truly has his own style, lots of power and balance, something ive never seen.
great video, skiing bumps at colorado resorts is inevitable. The are everywhere, and form in minutes with all the six person lifts. I'm surprised that more people don't embrace it. Growing up in the 90's its what we did, and i love it. I'm glad my body will still let me do it. jonny moses-ly is still the prophet of bumps! He changed and pushed the sport to what it is today.
I love Moseley's dedication: watched him shovel ruts into a steep, snowless hill in the off season for bump practice with poles and no skis. I hit it mercilessly right after they left.
Skiing in the 80’s moguls were big. Pre-terrain parks, pre- out of bounds… that’s how skiers were judged. I ski a handful of times per year. One nice moguls run, and my legs are shot!!! A few years ago at Vail… half way down, I though “shit!!! My legs are jelly.” Ended up drinking beer and eating BBQ the rest of the day.
There is almost nothing more thrilling and rewarding than concurring bumps. I mean "Skiing" them technically correct and feel how effortless it was at the end of the run. A sexy dance all the way down. I hope my 69 year old legs can still do it this season. This was Freestyle Hot dogging which is just as rewarding but in a more emotional way. Now That's freedom!
I've been in the spring bumps at Killington for nearly 60 years. First at cascade and downdraft then over to superstar. I love ovation in the spring if it's open.
i'm all about freestyle, well mainly speed. Cheers for me going 56mph on skies in my 20's. Although my brother is younger and went 64mph, so I have to beat that when theirs like no people, and I quit possibly have better skies, but hey, starting next year, I want to join a ski racing team!! Hopefully Covid won't stop us then!!!!
This is how we did it in the 80’s. Groomed slopes were just a bore. Now that’s all there is. One more thing. the secret ingredient to fun bumps: spring corn!
I have often wondered if skiing the bumps in the 60’s’, 70’s and 80’s had anything to do with my disintegrating arthritic disc disease in my 70 years of age?
Be thankful your in California... I love to ski the bumps because I’m actually fluent in the them and I’m they’re a challenge I enjoy. Just be thankful your out west where the front side ‘carving zone’ of every mogul isn’t complete ice and you actually have control. I’m in Vermont, still sending it. Oh but when I get out West..
jsnugbear yes Ive skied there once. I’m passholder at sugarbush though. I’m definitely gonna go to Mad River more though because the terrain is challenging and amazing. And don’t worry I’m a local i love a few towns outside of Burlington
Heres the reason to ski moguls.... If you get really good, you can attain the sensation that the bumps are moving your skis and you float down the hill as a disembodied head. You can slow down and speed up at will... jump from bump to bump... under perfect control. Johnny m likes it rough though. He's pounding the snow flat.
Jonny can't give you a reason, well, let me try. There is that moment, you wait for it, when your scratchy bouncing suddenly locks in and instead of a bounce, it becomes a glide. You smear inside the turn, wonder where the hit went and drift the edge of the mogul all the way around. Kicking your boot into line, you start to ...to.... carve? yes drift and carve and you speed up. suddenly a rush of adrenaline. You search down the line, your mind racing out ahead of your feet, a wild thought enters the mind: I can do this!
Ahhh I’ve been looking for it too. It’s not the original, it has guitars added and extra lyrics (45s from the end of the video) which is not in the original. I can’t for the life of me find it
Jonny's still the man when it comes to Moguls, and his self proclaimed home resort, Squaw Valley, has got more mogul fields than a block of Swiss cheese has holes.
I really didn't know you could ski them like this. But... how long do they expect their knees to last? This must punish their ligaments something fierce.
oh, I saw Marcus Caston doing perfect turn when freeriding. But comparing with Jonny Moseley in this video, you can still see a lot of difference. Jonny Moseley is much more stable and fastest in bumps.
I am watching this over and over again. The cool voices of Marcus and Jonny, the music, the sun, the bumbs... Just too cool.
“Dude get away from me creep” lmfao
Girl was vicious
"Yeah? They're this way... over here :(" has me cracking up as well
really
Dang those guys can ski so well. Sweet video!
This guy is the Olympics medalist, and one of the top 10 influencial skiers of all the time. Not anybody can ski like this.
best three minutes of my day
best nine minutes of my day )
I love it: "...get away from me creep." That's what I commonly hear irrespective of what I'm trying to carve...
Absolutely the epitome of mogul skiing when you can trick off a mogul, grab and land on the next. Insane!
Man! I watched this like 20 times and I can't wait to ski some bumps!
Never seen anyone making slalom turns on moguls like Marcus Caston... what a unique style.
To me, the best skiers on the mountain are guys like this, who just rip down the mogul runs. Guys throwing flips in the terrain park is cool, but people who can shred bumps are the best skiers.
What bout' both combined?
Skiing the bumps and making it look easy is much more impressive than someone doing flips in a terrain park, at least in my opinion....
to each his own...
Cool Video, I'm 47 and I still do my best to ski them like I'm 18, never a perfect line, but skis are always tight and I'm making adjustments and recoveries all the way down!!
Legs..
Always felt if you can ski bumps well, your potential for any other method of skiing fares better.
Thats sooo right! Big respect to all Park skiers, i actually cant do that well, but skiing bumps just hits different!
So oldschool, so classic, so great. Thanks.
This is an excellent video.....the editing, filming and action. Nothing like huge spring bumps on KT. Very, very quality work and unbelievably good skiers, all of you.
Think this is my favorite ski video on the web
One of my favorite videos ever. Great bump skiers with perspective and a sense of humor. Sublime. Thank you!
I recently saw this video as part of Blizzard/Tecnica training after coming home from a Vail trip that was filled with icy bumps that I found kind of pointless. This video makes me stoked to learn to rip bumps as well as things like pow and park. Props to these guys.

Caston skiing moguls like that on 100 mm PLANKS while the dude on mogul team on mogul skis noodles.

Super skills on the hills! Showmanship...good word!

it's good every time
"get away from me creep"
in answer to let's ski some bumps
I love the way Marcus ski's.

This is the best video on UA-cam, final. Except maybe return of the bird, that is sick aswell! Keep it up Caston!! //Sun Peaks, BC
3:07 The Blond "Dude.. get away from me creep" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Shredding the bumps will never go out of style
I feel like I am out of breath and my legs are burning just watching this...
Great video and if you can ski those bumps like Johnny Mosley and company the mountain is your playground and alot of fun too.
great video, skiing bumps at colorado resorts is inevitable. The are everywhere, and form in minutes with all the six person lifts. I'm surprised that more people don't embrace it. Bumps are the best part of any ski day.
"did someone say bumps?" lol
thats so good!
...plenty of admiration for these skiers. Rippin' it.
Good vid from beginning to end! Short and to the point. Good humor and EXCELENT skiing!!!

My home Mt of Killington Vt. bumps are a way of life. Nothing like a spring day on OL or Superstar. I loved this video.
At Killington bumps are always inevitable lol Ski the east!
I've been in the spring bumps at Killington for nearly 60 years. First at cascade and downdraft then over to superstar. I love ovation in the spring if it's open.
Wow!....... As someone who has skied his entire life I am speechless...... Wow 😮
Slush bumps are second only to fresh pow. Plus since all my friends hate moguls it means wide open runs for meeee
Right on to that!! I live in New Mexico, Taos Ski Valley has the best spring bump skiing around. Luv it!
I love all of the Northern NM ski valleys! I used to ski Red River, Angelfire and Taos every winter!
Easily the best ski video I've ever seen
i'm all about freestyle, well mainly speed. Cheers for me going 56mph on skies in my 20's. I like Marcus's old school technique, plus he's not using mogul skis.
Cochise or Bonafide - either one requires a lot of energy to ski bumps.
yeah, as he goes, boom done deal!
Nothing is more educating than mogul skiing.
I love spring bumps!!🥳🥳
doing chute 75 with VW bug sized bumps and thinking youre owning it...and then getting passed by the squaw tiny tots ski team. (sigh)
This is beyond friggin' great, Wigglers Unite!!!
i sing this damn song everytime i hit the bumps now lol
Love that song. Never heard it before, but it really made the video.
@@Tristan_Heberlein Here's the original 1983 version from Australian new wave band, Real Life.

I can't believe how many times I've watched this video before I realized that Donny Pelletier makes an appearance
1:57 hey look it’s Donny Pelletier
I think a more accurate name for moguls would be "mini fun ramps that help you face plant into the trees on the side of the trail"
Accurate
I snowboard and we actually sometimes need moguls on icy runs because it's so hard to get an edge on ice unless you just sharpened the edges
This is how we did it in the 80’s. Groomed slopes were just a bore. Now that’s all there is. One more thing. the secret ingredient to fun bumps: spring corn!
I could ride off the KT chair every day of my life and never get bored.
impeccable 20th century vibes
soft bumps are nice, can plow right through them
icy bumps tho---- YIKES
I have often wondered if skiing the bumps in the 60’s’, 70’s and 80’s had anything to do with my disintegrating arthritic disc disease in my 70 years of age?
Lol, yes, yes it most certainly did.
Yep, mashed potato bumps are a joy compared to the frozen vw beetles we fight in the east.
Have you ever skied the bumps at Mad River Glen? They are usually sublime since they are formed by excellent skiers.
jsnugbear yes Ive skied there once. I’m passholder at sugarbush though. I’m definitely gonna go to Mad River more though because the terrain is challenging and amazing. And don’t worry I’m a local i love a few towns outside of Burlington
I love to learn that some day ....but watching is so cool ...thank you
Fractured my rib on that same run in June I will not be skiing bumps with you guys soon
This is the most impressive skiing I’ve seen in a while
My legs hurt just watching this.
PLEASE WHERE IS THE FULL VERSION OF THIS SONG
i am lookink as well, but can't find the version with the second part of the song. if you find it , can you tell here please ?

Johnny Mosley and mogul skiing 🎿 Jukin left right non stop is style mix jukebox skiing
Such a siiick video

Great skiing- reminds of the freestyle from the early 70s, except with better more responsive equipment.
Simply amazing skiing!
I used to RIP. Now I'm 51 and dont ski much. Bumps were my specialty.
Those guys never fall down!

You can slow down and speed up at will... jump from bump to bump... under perfect control.

Bumps suuuuuuuuuck! But fun to watch good bump skiers. Mosley would be sick going down a bunny hill.
YA, Time for the Hot Dog return. Very nice turns buy the way. The Olympic people might want to take a look.
That s my goal as an older skier.....be able to ski moguls and bumps graciously! no like a piece of 2x4 lumber!
holy shit! DIN number infinity?

Ahhh I’ve been looking for it too. It’s not the original, it has guitars added and extra lyrics (45s from the end of the video) which is not in the original. I can’t for the life of me find it
I love bumps ... but my lower back doesn't. :( I think I need to learn some better technique that is kinder to my lower back.
top class skiing
Jonny's still the man when it comes to Moguls, and his self proclaimed home resort, Squaw Valley, has got more mogul fields than a block of Swiss cheese has holes.
Id sell my left kidney to ski some bumps with the god that is marcus caston tbh xD
I've been trying to convince my buddies that moguls are actually fuckin worth it. I think this video will go a long way to convince them!
Some good stuff here!😍 love it
The dislikes are from their knees
Are most skiers featured in the clip in the US mogul team?
20 years ago. Moseley won the Olympic moguls. 20 years ago...
1:02 Jonny Moseley?
I really didn't know you could ski them like this. But... how long do they expect their knees to last? This must punish their ligaments something fierce.
This is sick.
Jonny Moseley said to me once, "Are those your Pon2oons?" I said " Yes Jonny, Yes they are."
Aaron Delly Jonny moseley said to me once "are those your underpants?" i said "no jonny , they are my sisters"
I love skiing moguls vary fast and hucking 3s of cliffs
@Party Beach Ski Camps
I tore my ACL just watching this
Are these moguls skies or some 80-90s mm all mountain skies, I cant really tell?
oh, I saw Marcus Caston doing perfect turn when freeriding. But comparing with Jonny Moseley in this video, you can still see a lot of difference. Jonny Moseley is much more stable and fastest in bumps.
Insane I’m apprehensive just watching it
Controlled Chaos Caston
But, where do they put the moguls in the summer?
Seems like Marcus dominant edge is with his right foot. Kills a lot of speed when turning to the left.
Booogaa, u are awesome dude, how many hemendex eat at breakfast?
U work something, or u are pro ?
After two years I hope u are still alive!!!
i really wanna ski the bumps, but my knees said otherwise
Warren Miller said you're born with a certain number of bumps in your knees, and when they're gone they're gone.
