My 75 year old wife went out and bought this bike last week while I was in the hospital for bypass surgery. She rode 229 miles the first day. She had a MT09 Yamaha (900cc) that she could no longer push around from still. Great light bike for her. I get to test it out in a month
Do you like it?
Fully recovered from my heart surgery, we took our bikes for a nice long ride yesterday. I like everything about her bike and is the perfect weight for her. it can run right along at 65MPH just fine and gets about 80MPG My only complaint is changing the oil filter you must lay the bike down (onto a cardboard box). She had her own ideas about modifications and put handbrake shields on, loud horns, and a mesh like covering for the seat. I am surprised it only has a quart of oil capacity.@@RatedRob
Buying a new bike, the first thing to consider is DOES IT HAVE FUEL INJECTION. Like your car, it starts instantly, no choke, and especially if it sits for any great length of time you are NOT going to have carburetor problems. Burn ethanol free fuel in all your bikes...it is worth the extra difference.
Your wife is awesome. a mt09? Thats a lot of bike
@@Stonebluff89 Linda is my first and third wife. We divorced 35 years ago as she wanted to pursue her career in the military. When both of our second spouses died we started talking again and remarried the day before Valentine's Day two years ago. We are both 76 years old and did a lot of motorcycle riding our first time around. Not too many 76 year old ladies that would go into a motorcycle dealership alone and buy a new bike. We both have had some health problems and her legs have been giving her problems moving her heavier bike. Her 900 was no slouch but we really don't need huge power anymore to have a good time. I have a 2010 Honda VFR1200f, a 2014 Honda CB1100, a 2012 Honda CBR250r and a 2023 Honda Grom. As soon as it becomes available we will have a 2025 Yamaha RD350 fuel-injected two stroke.
Maybe you could change that little plastic guide for the front brake line in a way to move it back further toward you? I really like this klx230 man ive had 7 motorcycles in the past and some 650s and 750s and thinking strongly about picking either this bike up or the klx300sm.. actually leaning towards this klx230 over the 300
Yeah, I’ll have to definitely look into a little plastic guide to see if that will make a difference. I know the 300 will have more power. But for how I’m using the 230, even riding two up, I haven’t felt like it lacked power that bad.
did you finally decide?...230 or 300 sm?
Nice sounding slip on pipe. doesn't seem to loud. just rumbles nice.
I thought the video came out great! Good job! Hey, if you could let me know how you make out on a spark arrester I’d appreciate it. I just put a norifumi on my 230sm and I’d like to put one on too
I definitely hope you enjoy the exhaust as much as I have so far and hopefully your install went fairly smoothly! And yea Ill definitely post about the spark arrestor once I end up doing the research and all that.
Oh shnap. Mic and mount set up lookin proper.
LIKE 👍👍👍👍👍💯💢💯🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
why tf is it blue lol should be green is it a yamahog
Haha it was supposed to be green but dealership assembled a blue one instead so I just took it.
Definitely do a video on the Suzuki mini truck! Those things are cool as heck!
Yea it’s a little beast, its a lot of fun to drive around. I’ll definitely revisit trying to get it posted
How's the handle bar vibration at 55-60mph?
It’s not bad, I can ride at those speeds for awhile without any fatigue in the hands or wrist…. It definitively better than a dual sport cause of the street tires
I had so much fun watching this. I’m a big guy and have a VTX 1300 but I’ve been wanting, and trying to get information on how this bike would perform with this riding. I think those bikes exactly what I’ve been looking for. Thanks for for showing me.
Glad to help!
Are the Norifumi slip-ons compatible with the KLX300sm?
As far as I know, I don't think so. But the 300sm seems to have fmf and yoshimura options which are also quality units
Is it my weight? I’m 180lbs and mine won’t pass 45mph on flat ground
Im about the same weight, so If it is the same bike than there is probably some issue
Wow 69mpg 2up, that's kinky😂😂
Exactly!!! Maybe that’s why I like the bike so much 😂😂
I am getting ready to buy one of these. I’m a new street rider… any advice ???
I’m a fellow Marylander too!!
Niceee, it is a great bike!
It is hard to give new riders advice because everyone is different, but that being said be patient while learning, some things you may pick up quick some things may take time. don’t let mistakes discourage you. The most important thing is to be safe and have fun. (Probably not the most insightful advice but that’s what I got haha)
Any advice is good for me. I appreciate it ! Do you by any chance go riding with a group? Id love to go on some cruises once I get the hang of this bike. Don't have any moto/street friends lol @@pitbikemike
I do cruises with friends cause I know their riding styles (how fast or aggressive they ride) but I don’t really do big group rides cause people try and show off and can cause issues lol. But there are groups on facebook for the dmv area that do rides and get togethers where friends can be made. @EvoEnjoi
how long did you ride it to brake it in
Break in on the bike was 600 miles, hopefully that’s the answer to your question
How often does a bike like this need oil changes?
this bike needs oil changes at first at 600 miles, then every 7500 miles or yr
Why can't you take it on the hwy? It goes 85
I take it on the hwy, but its not comfortable doing long stretches.. also the bike has hard limiter at 75 mph
Any brake light aftermarket to get rid of the big brake fender ?
If you order from Asia will be a lot
Any spark plug fouling issues ?
Nope, haven’t had any of those issues luckily. Is that a known problem?
@@pitbikemike if you search klx230 issues youll see a handful of people having this issue..but out of the thousands out there the odds r in your favor 😎
Where is this located? Beautiful looking town.
Ellicott city maryland!
