I was actually a bit surprised when you put The Blood of Olympus in the highest tear. I actually really enjoy it especially the Nico and Reyna chapters but apparently it’s the majority of the fandoms least favorite HoO book. Also THANK YOU for putting the Tyrants Tomb in the blue food category. It was so good and what nearly happened to Frank had me in tears.

Here's my take! I remember reading BoO for the first time after waiting for it to come out for a year, it was disappointing to me how anti-climatic the "war" was, so it tainted my experience. BoO was the only HoO book that I had only read once, I reread the others many times while waiting for the next book to come out. Recently rereading the whole series I really liked BoO! I didn't have any expectations bc of my previous experience and it surprised me in a good way. To put it quickly, the hype ruined it.
@@jadem2653 I totally agree, it definitely didn’t compare to the Last Olympian and the climax wasn’t the greatest, I remember reading it and being SUPER underwhelmed. It’s only one of my favs because of the aftermath of the war, the Nico and Reyna chapters, and the Solangelo moments. Same, the hype did end up ruining lots of it for me.
In my opinion titan’s curse was easily by far the worst one.
The main reason for Blood of Olympus’s downfall was because of how anticlimactic the war was and how easily it was to defeat Gaia ( and because of Leo’s jerk move of dying coming back to life, getting Calypso and running off without telling his friends he was ok) but In my opinion I think Lost Hero is the weakest HoO book.
We all know that every single book that have Nico DiAngelo there is going to be ranked higher than the rest 🤣

I'm so glad Tyrant's Tomb got ranked high. Reyna is an asexual icon and I love her. I didn't know why for the longest time but even while reading Heroes of Olympus, before it was confirmed she was ace and before I realized my own asexuality, I always connected so much to her. Couple years later and things now make sense lol seriously, Rick is way too good at writing this child/teen characters.

I finished tower of Nero recently and I haven’t read a book for fun in such a long time that the emotions I felt reading that book were all over the place but it honestly became my favorite Rick Riordan book
House of Hades was STUNNING! Loved this ranking!
Book series suggest: Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messager. It is a series about a girl, Sophie, how learns that she is an elf and not a human like she previously thought. I think you'd enjoy it. The humor is good, the mc is romantically obvious, and the cliffhangers starting with bk 4 are at least as good as the one in the Mark of Athena (some are even better). I think you'd also enjoy the characters specifically one named Keefe who is kind of the second mc. The series also goes into deep topics such as rebellions, genocide and racism, those with powers (the series has an ESP-like system) vs those that don't. The series is still technically ongoing; however, the last book 8.5 (yes it is one of those series) came out this time last year like all the other books have since I started read the series which was the year bk5 came out. But this year book 9 isn't out meaning that we might have to wait another year before it is out. I really hope you read the series and if you do then make a habit of reading at least the first half of the acknowledgements b/c the author starts putting funny comments after a book ends with a cliffhanger.
I love this series but i'm getting so frustrated at the lack of answers at this point omg!!
I read the entire series but it lost me the second I started thinking about the worldbuilding. Shannon Messenger is an amazing writer and she's great at characters and relationships but she is absolutely terrible at making a world that makes any sense

Its been years since I finished PJO and HoO, but recently I was finally able to read ToA after 5 years of not being able to know what would happen to the series besides The Hidden Oracle ( because I pre ordered when it was released) and OMG am LOVING IT SO MUCH, sometimes I feel like Meg when it comes to know past shit because of my fuzzy memories lmao, but its been so fun.
I just finished The Shadow's Prophecy AND GOOD LORD WHAT WAS THAT???? Apolo I love you, please understand.
The Last Olympian also needs to be top tier because of the time lapse in it. Its basically just one day, but our fave uncle Rick has written it so that it doesn't feel drawn out like a day can usually feel like especially when we're just sat waiting for the big thing. And to do that takes some talent!

Demigods and Magicians is a Percy Jackson and Kane Chronicles cross-over (short but nice). This is just a recommendation to read it if you hadn't already cause it does let us see into how the different gods from different cultures can live in the same world but also separate

Jason's death was literally impossible to register in my mind.. like he was one of my many favourite characters in Riordan verse series, and he dies by the spear of Caligula 😢.. I liked you said that he should get immortality... Like, really should 👍

Definitely recommend the Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner, there's six books set across fantasy ~ancient Mediterranean~ empires! These books have everything: goats, hooks-for-hands, plot-relevant earrings, the best romance development I've ever read, political intrigue, one-liners, volcanoes, horse slander, gay poetry, and so much more. It's a slow series to start but the pay-off is immense :)
I'm glad I'm not the only one that immediately gravitated to Nico

I love Percy jackson and recently I played the new god of war games which made me interested in Norse mythology and I want to read a book about it. Since I liked Rick Riordan should I read Magnus Chase? Is it any good? And how does it compare to the Percy jackson series
PJO: Titans Curse, Last Olympian, Battle of the Labyrinth, Lightning Thief, Sea of Monsters (something about Titans Curse just clicks with me so well I love it)
HOO: House of Hades, Blood of Olympus, Mark of Athena, Son of Neptune, The Lost Hero (I prefer PJO. The amnesia stuff gets old fast and mark of Athena drags too long)
TOA: Haven’t reread in a while (also haven’t read tower of Nero)
MCatGoA: Sword of Summer, Ship of the Dead, Hammer of Thor
KC: Red Pyramid, Serpent’s Shadow, Throne of Fire

There are three crossover stories between Percy Jackson and the Olimpians and The Kane Chronicles, where Percy, Annabeth, Carter and Sadie fight together against an evil sorcerer.
The Demigod Files and The Demigod Diaries contains some amazing stories.
I read the heroes of Olympus books as they were coming out and waiting for mark of Athena was absolutely hell,and I even still managed to get that part with nico in house of hades(pretty sure it’s that one I need to finish rereading the series) spoilered for me,but it was still so so worth it and honestly I agree with these pretty closely expect blood of Olympus I remember feeling it was rushed and anticlimactic, I still liked it but having had to wait for it and not finishing house of hides and going directly into it kinda impacted that for me so it’d be a bit lower but I am curious when I reread HOO if I’ll like it more
and! Nico and Leo are also my favorite characters, honestly almost the whole riordanverse though I haven’t finished trials of Apollo yet, I started when it came out and then had a Super bad reading slump after so maybe there’s some characters in there I’ll love as much too oh and Alex fierro from magnus chase! I am curious your thoughts on Clarisse la rue in PJO, and to recommend the demigod files and the other companion books if you can get your hands on them, some have old art for the series that isn’t really used anymore but the short stories are great! Cause the demigod files especially got me to have a softer perspective on Clarisse
I think two short stories even fill in the year between battle of the labyrinth and the last Olympian a bit if you were ever curious about that!
You should really read daughter of the deep by Rick Riordan i think it's a really good book i found it very amusing.. and if you liked the Magnus Chase series you should read 9 from the nine world its so good!

So there are two ways that you can read the Riordanverse:
1) PJO, Kane Chronicles, HOO, Magnus Chase, TOA
The events of PJO and TKC take place around the same time, as do the events of MCGA and TOA
2)PJO, HOO, TOA, TKC, MCGA
PJO, HOO and TOA have lots of overlapping characters as well as the same mythology behind it (Greek/Roman)
You can do either way, personally I read using the first method (same as Joel), but it really doesn’t matter
PJO = Percy Jackson and the Olympians
HOO = The Heroes of Olympus
TOA = The Trials of Apollo
TKC = The Kane Chronicles
MCGA = Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard
There are also lots of spin-off novellas but I haven’t got a list of them so idk which order to read them in

totally agree about the kane chronicles, it was good but not great. it was mainly fun because egyptian mythology doesn't get nearly enough love, and the way he did the hieroglyphic magic was fun.
In a sea of soft magic"it's for kids,don't use your brain" I appreciate "you'll get exhuasted quickly,use other sources of power."
Its my personal favorite, I feel like I connected to it way more than pjo.
Battle of the labyrinth is my fav of the pjo series titans curse better than it has always been a razz take and imma die saying that but saying last Olympian is better is valid just not my opinion 😊

I genuinely don't understand the Sea Of Monsters slander. Ofc people can have their own personal opinions but I absolutely adored the book. It is one of my favorites, the Annabeth development and moments between her and Percy were great. Plus I just loved the plot itself. I didn't really care for Tyson, but the rest was just so amazing.
My heart is broken. The Titan's Curse didn't go into dam good and that's where the joke comes from.
Of course much love otherwise.
I am really excited about trials of Apollo because of the queer relationship between nico and will because that couple right there will fill our hearts with joy and we have to give thanks to Riordan for actually adding a cannon gay ship because if he didn’t add one there will be a whole lot of fan base gay ships

Tyrant's Tomb deserves to be thrown into the depths of Tartarus. Frank just defeats the emperor and gets rid of his curse in like 1 chapter off-screen (off-page?). It was done even worse than Blood of Olympus's final battle. It would have been more impactful to see the final battle with them in its full form and Frank sacrificing himself at the end. I get you just killed off a big character in the last book, but c'mon.
