This book not only said "gay rights" but also "save lives...and get therapy"
And that’s all it said. Their was no adventure. No real fight. Just a lot of walking and bickering by nico who was turned into an insufferable brat who is “all darkness with no light”. Nico was just making a fuss about every thing that happened because will couldn’t understand the “darkness”.
@@theberminater9589I was about to say almost exactly this 💀
@@theberminater9589i mean it was enjoyable though, i went into the book hoping for less action and more feelings so i was really satisfied, i loved the premise and the way the two reflected eachother. though maybe im biased since i’ve been waiting to see more of will, i wouldn’t call it boring or anything. yeah an intense nico battle suffering agenda type of stuff would be way more “jumping off my chair”, i still loved the more slice of life feel too, anyways nico has suffered a lot, i think a more chill story for him was good, the big “fight” isn’t that important for a good book, and he wasn’t really a brat….but it’s ur opinion sry for typing a lot 😞 plz don’t hate me, i do understand book taste is a thing
The scene where Nico is handed the cereal is such an emotional scene. I was tearing up when I read it too. He needed to accept the cereal to accept himself, and I am so proud of him for it.
Calling it 'the cereal' is so funny to me, but it makes total sense and you are absolutely right that the book readers would understand.
IM SORRY THE LIL NAS X REFERENCE WAS SOOOO FUNNY I WAS ACTUALLY CRYING 😭😭😭
Percy Jackson shaped my personality when I read it in elementary school tbh, but I haven't read anything after the heroes of Olympus and this makes me want to read the rest of the books. Hearing that it's a positive queer story makes me want to cry, Nico meant so much to me as a young queer person, before I even knew I was queer. Can't wait to read it :')
Read it!!
Go !!
You are in fact correct JOIN THE COZY KINGDOM IT'S AN AMAZING TIME
YESSSS
No lie, reading this book made me go look up Alton Brown’s popcorn recipe and I’ve already cooked it twice. 🍿
Rick and Mark should totally co-author a Magnus Chase and Alex Fierro book. The Magnus Chase series is the only riordanverse series with ought a project in the works and those characters would work well with Marks style/background.
I N E E D MORE MAGNUS CHASE BOOKS
Magnus chase needed more books-😭😭
I. Need. More. Alex. Plz
fierrochase is my sh!t please I need it
"When the villain gives Nico the cereal" if anyone for some reason hasn't read the book yet but is still watching this, that must be so confusing but it's also very funny even with context, that's one of my favorite moments in the book, i had alot of favorite moments but that's not my point, and it still made me laugh for a while after hearing it XD
I’m not at that part yet but like Epiales’ dialogue when solangelo encountered them in the underworld, they gave off silly goofy vibes for a demon which I loved so much!
This book left me feeling raw but full of hope and wanting a plushy of the cereal. This book is just so amazing and I am so so happy that Rick and Mark blessed us with it.
*** SUN AND THE STAR SPOILER ***
At the beginning of the video, when Joel said that Nico and Will are both fighting demons of their own i laughed so hard. Because they quite literally do so.
I did too 😂 I just began cackling
Coco puffs!
I know! When he said that Nico was kind of just pushing his problems into a little ball of darkness, I was like: 🤭🤣😂 Nico’s coco puffs❤
@@FierrochaseIsUnderrated The cutest cereal!
The Cocoa Puffs 🤭🤭
Thank you for clarifying that it is NOT a tragedy 😭 ive been avoiding it because i was worried it was going to be really sad in the end.
the cozy kingdom is GREAT. We have lovely people, cozy chronicles, fruity fruit mascots, bookish conversations and- so much more HEH
oh honeyyyy
@@max-rblnI’m confused I’m not in the cozy kingdom… what is it?
Chapter 48 got me-same dude same, I broke down sobbing
SAME 😭 HOW COULD THEY DO THAT?
I’m currently reading it and now I’m scared😭
the new channel look? another riordan read? we've been blessed !!!
eeeee thank you!! i’m so happy you love it
I love the new intro! =) Nico is my precious son and I'm so happy "The Sun and The Star" exists! 🥰I'm still working my way through "The Trials of Apollo" but I'm loving every moment of Solangelo I get. *lol* I love your videos because they never spoil me and only make me even more excited about the book!
i'm in the cozy discord and raving about how good it is. 🦅RRAHHHHHH🦅
*joins raving*
Well hello there
RAAAAHHHHHH
This is a cozy kingdom member comment thread now (I'm Emzy btw lolz)
RAAAAH
Cried while reading the book, cried while I watched this video. THANK YOU.
Also, please do continue with this type of vlogs! Chaotic energy it's just the best energy you can give to anything you make.
the „oh.. shoelaces 😮😢” killed me for no reason lmao 5:38
FictionalFates: This book is more an adult novel.
Hiss-Majesty: CHEESE HAT!!
Jokes aside, After reading the book (One of the 8 left from Target) I've started contemplating on Nico's character arc, and to me it feels like he has changed so much, but somehow stayed the same. Until this book, that is. When will they make a Small Bob short story?
Finished it in 4 days (without english being my first language otherwise I think I would've read it in like 7 hours) and i *loved it* !Its exactly what we needed and I just wanted to scream in every gorgyra scene. (Couldn't couse I read it like 12 am soo...) Also love the faces that you make while reading. Reminds me of myself whenever something cute, surprising etc happens. 🙈
I feel like I should read the books in this universe. This kinda motivates me- (also love the „analysis“ in this video)
Thank you for this lovely and caring discussion and analysis! This book is so special to me because of how it lays out the best metaphor for trauma and learning to live and grow with trauma that I’ve maybe ever seen in a novel, and it came at a time when I really needed it. I would watch immediately if you do someday film a video essay about the personification of trauma in Tartarus because I am so here for that discussion and could talk about it all day! Thank you for giving this book the thoughtful and understanding reflection it deserves
I just finished this book and loved it! I grew up reading Percy Jackson and always loved Nico’s story and to be able to see Nico grow to accept all the parts of himself and not be held back by himself anymore was a truly cathartic and heartwarming experience. Thanks for the video! Sending good vibes your way ☀️
I loved this book, its also my fave in the riordan verse atm
You encapsulated my feelings about TSatS so well for me because I am still a blubbering mess sometimes once I start thinking of certain scenes in the last act of book lol, so thank you ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
LOVE THE NEW INTRO! My first thought was omg I want to show someone how cool this is
I love the intro, join the cozy kingdom it’s amazing
omg i was so excited when this book came out! i was waiting on it! i literally wagged (skipped) my last class TO GET MY HANDS ON THIS BOOK and i was the first person to buy the book in the store HAHAH. this book put me through a rollercoaster! i think it handled their relationship and trauma so well and showed life/relationships really isn't perfect. it's not an easy process to go through, but i can be beautiful at the same time. you are the first booktuber that I thought of after i read it was you. i'm so excited to watch the video i have been expecting this - you got me into percy jackson. the first person that comes to my mind for book reading vlogs is you ahh im gonna start watching it now!
0:54 I think the elephant really ties the room together
13:33 LOONA LIGHTSTICK !!?? I love when my worlds collide but honestly this book was amazing I love these suns and stars
I have been waiting for this! i loved this book so much
i loved it too, it was so much fun! (+ pain 😭)
ur intro is the thing i never knew i needed but now cannot live without :000
The way I also teared up during chapter 48 is so real.
I love the use of cereal 😂 brilliant idea to cover it up like that
💚☀🌟 PHASE III IS HERE! Love the new intro, icons, and outro.
12:05 COZY KINGDOM SPOTTED
its the perfect snippet too
loving the new look. another excellent video and what sounds like an excellent book. I still gotta finish Magnus chase and read trials of Apollo. my high school reading slump is finally coming back to haunt me.
Hi, new here, found you from TNO! I love how your reactions were basically same as mine! I definitely devoured this book faster than any book in a long time, it was so good ✨ haven’t read anything from mark before but his writing really fit with rick’s style
Chapter 48 GOT ME. And I never cry when it comes to books and movies. Love you Rick
Joel your reactions are stressing me out I'm scared to read this now
I feel the exact same now!
It’s nice to see a new video from you again! Hope you’re well.
heroes of olympus also has no chapter titles, and it was also a really big shift when i first read that series
same with the pov not being first person like PJO and TOA and the sun and the star is feeling like that shift as well
you r an amazing person!! not so long time ago found you and after that moment i realise that you r amazing, your content is so p-rofession and alive(?), i think. i love the universe of pj by all my heart and all your vidios on this topic are full af emotions and love. after whatching them i understend that only fans of uncle rick could be like that. Thank you!!(I know there could be mistakes here, so I'm sorry< I'm not from an English speaking country)
this book is my love and my life i finally got my copy today!! just finished reading it lol and ive only had it for like 6 hours
This video has been in my watch later ever since it came out, and I have finally finished this book and I am so ready to watch this!
the way your reactions can make me tell what part your on because I deeply resonate with you too when I read this book
i was hearing very differeing opinions about the sun and the stars (like from what i cam across, ppl either hated it or loved it) and so even with these two as my favoruite pairing i was quite afraid of starting the book. i ended up loving it. i loved it so much. i am a sucker for working out ur trauma and wholsomeness and so i did not care that there wasnt much action or the tone of the story being different from the other riordan verse books. it was so relatable and my soul feels healed.
I would love more TSaTS videos 🥰🥰 Thanks for your vlogs, really love your channel =D
This is making me want to catch up with The Trials of Apollo series so I can read this 🫣
I was really glad to see a slightly more mature writing style for this book. It’s still silly at times but it’s really toned down the overstuffed Trials of Apollo humour. This book really deserved the more tasteful spread of humour. I think that really is the one thing that pushed this book above all the other Riordanverse books. I’ve always loved them for the meat behind the glamour of fun and humour and I’m happy this book gave us more meat and less glamour.
Gosh I cannot wait French translation of this book so I can FINALLY read it 😩
I missed you here so much ❤
finished it in 10 hours. i can’t believe it’s been 6 months already 😭
yk when people say that something will be a cultural reset? well this is a PERSONAL reset for me.
I need this book
4:24 - 5:42
this summarized me reading the book
The silly book is out aaaaa
just finished the HOO series!
do i have to read all the Trials of Apollo before this get everything in this one? 😊
No I’m getting ready to go out to get the book and I haven’t finished toa yet
PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ESSAY
funny thing ahaha when i watched Shadow and Bone i couldn't stop thinking that you looked so similar to Jesper ahahaha
When i started reading the books, i was older than nico. Now hes older than me 😭
i need to read all trials of apollo first or i can skip those?
u can perfectly understand the book without TOA, youll miss some things, but yeah, u dont need it
pjo and hoo are very necessary, though
Can you read this without reading the others?
I honestly feel like something has been missing from the books from the trials of Apollo and onward, and this book feels the same to me. I feel like the topics discussed in the more recent books (especially obvious at the end of this book) don’t exactly fit with what is happening in the book. (e.g. troglodytes are silly and childlike, language is tame, yet most characters are teenagers) I think that this book in particular could have benefitted from having more physical challenges rather than mental ones because Nico is a character who is far more important on the inside than the outside, so the whole book felt like I was inside Nico’s head, but it wasn’t even in first person narration. Maybe it’s because in the earlier books there were more challenges and characters coming out of myths that people knew about, or maybe it’s because of the slightly less structured storylines, but the newer books just don’t feel the same to me. It’s not because I grew out of the old ones either, I have reread them lately and I still generally prefer their feel. The Sun and the Star was still a good book, though. I love Nico di Angelo and I understand a lot of his thought processes, so this book felt good to read.
for all the discord newbies, beware of gregory, he is EVIL
WELSH KING ARTHUR SERIES. YES PLEASE 🏴❤️
You've such a nice accent! Is it from Britain?
I'm sitting neurodivergently in solidarity
I loved the book, but i still have some criticism concerning Will. Will kind of has an actual reason to not like the underworld if it literally literally is out to get him.
And i'm not sure if it's a fair thing to point out since it is nico di angelo adventure, but will doesn't have enough focus. Will was THE battlemedic throught two wars so has seen some shit and from apollo cabin which was cut in half in campers. I'm so annoyed there didn't seem to be anything on that. Realistically will should already accept what death is. And don't get me started on how Will giving a primordial being who doesn't have a face or lungs a hay fever. That has to be ridiculously powerful if directed at a mortal or even a demigod an THEN it isn't even mentioned ever again. Neither of them say anything about it when they recount the experience to everyone.
Also, concerning Nico's nightmares, i could have sworn that in Boo nico says something about mostly being able to travel between dreams and that was how he met clovis in some dream place and could see the head coulcelor meeting and describe Will for the first time.
👏👍🏻🩷
day 1 of asking u to read cassandra clare
I realy hate to be that guy but i think im forst!
congratulations!!!
I didn't like that book much. Nico and Will didn't felt like themselves and the book was "dry"- means not funny and even boring most of the time for me. Usually I can't get Rick's books off my hands, even if it's the 20's time I read them, but in this book I had to take few breaks because I got bored... Really disappointing. I askesd this book as a gift to my birthday with great exitment about solangelo story and I'm so sad that it turned out to be so unsuccesful😢
Cereal?!?! Could you have NOT been so obvious? You could have just said emotions.
i just read the book and came to watch your video and... i'm sorry, i hated this one. the plot just didnt click and tbh the characteres felt like other people from a different story. its a positive queer story? ok yes, but it is a good one? its a no from me.
