My wife got flagged last week at our grocery store for buying too much meat !!! The cashier had to call the manager to over ride the register. I bet if i bought $200.00 of snacks on a SNAP card i wouldn t be flagged
What store was it and what city was it in?
How much constitutes "too much" and did they 'let' her buy it all in the end?
@@NiceLoki$200, so about a kilo of mince
No doubt !
No, they certainly would not flag you for the snacks; they’d inform you that cases of Mountain Dew are also on sale.
Pathetic.
I worked in a meat production company and government officials including weights and measures personnel were constantly on site certifying that the scales were properly calibrated. If things were off they'd shut down the entire line and that costs lots of money. Then there'd be fines and that's even more money.
Maybe Walmart can bribe their way out of oversight and accountability.
or the scales are made so things are cheaper at checkout?
A billion dollar company like Walmart? Surely they couldn’t afford bribery like that…
call the state, that is a crime
Yes, weights and measures infractions are not tolerated anywhere.
lol, good luck with that.
Walmart would have security cam footage of that hillbilly swapping tags.
@@ExtraSubtle She may have been lifting on the scale too. Or video editing.
4 pounds of meat has a lot of volume. There's no way that could be 4 pounds!
As if inflation hasn't hurt the consumer enough, they're inflating the weights too? That's absurd. I guess I'll have to start checking weights now. Geez. Everyone's a con man now.
I don't know if this comes from company guidelines, or from employees. Many employees steal merchandise and charge it to the consumer, so it would not be unusual for the butcher who packages that meat, weigh the meat, print the label, and then just pack half in the tray and take the other half home. Or that they themselves manipulate the scales and steal the rest of the products. In every company, employees steal and they are complicit with each other, and in the end the company ends up paying for the employees' scams. I can't guarantee anything, but that is very common.
Find a local butcher❤
That is good if you can afford it, but not everyone can afford the small increase in money per pound they charge.
That woman is paying twice the price per pound on chicken full of who knows what. A local butcher would be cheaper and better quality.
Best idea ever
@@smartasafox3714 Not at my butcher, yes, it is better quality, more accurate than walmart obviously, but that better quality comes with a $1.50 to $2 dollar extra hike per pound. I don't know your story, can only tell mine. So if we are both right, I guess we can assume some are same, some are cheaper, and some are more expensive.
I have! Went to a local butcher and picked up a pound of ground chuck. When the young lady weighed it I thought that's a lot of beef!
I feed my dog and cats primarily chicken breast and thighs...they will not eat chicken from walmart. I have tried several times and they just sniff it and leave it. I have even made sure they were hungry and still wont touch it. They will eat spoiled rotten meat but not "fresh" chicken from Walmart.
Whoa! Good to know! I will test it out at any grocery store I buy meat from.
I never shop wal mart grocery
Don’t shop there folks right there call the dept of weights and measures have them audit them
LOL 😂, so you take the word of a blue haired Karen with some thing hanging on her lip who just hates Walmart and looking for something free ?
about 600 lawyers r already on it, its been an ongoing suit for over a yr now:) controlled op baker here is just testing the waters for them or something cuz surely he's aware ?? anyway, audits been done & gone, only question now is how much theyr gonna payout...
@@divingduck9 the the lawyers gonna take the bulk of the money especially if it’s a class action lawsuit plus the government will take a chunk. Well the consumers remain screwed over
@@divingduck9
“Controlled op baker”
Oof.
@@anastasiasalem7615 the bulk will go to the consumers, but it will b small potatoes after being divvied up. that is the nature of class action. but it caused the stores to make corrective measures, so its served the public
I've stopped buying most thing from Wal-Mart. The quality and selection are poor.
Yeah, I find the food stale the majority of the time. Well, at least in Canada. I'm not sure about the states.
in all honesty Walmart is for poor people.
Just don't do wally world. Hated that place. Always try and buy local if possible.
Thats straight up illegal.
The hillbilly swapped tags.
Maybe someone set the scale to read Kg.
0:20 It says 2.00 lb
@@someoneyoudontknow7705 Yes, I know. The unit displayed could be wrong.
Of course they are. Corporate profits across the board are the highest they’ve been in 70 years. They’re blaming inflation but they’re just price gouging. All these big box stores have a practical monopoly, they can do whatever they want. I buy direct from local farmers as much as possible.
I have never had a good experience buying meat from Walmart unless its frozen. Their fresh is questionable that's all I'm sayin.
That’s expensive chicken prices too.
Hmm, not sure how much trust I can place in a blue-haired Wal-Mart shopper.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I feel a class action lawsuit coming on!
I think a lawsuit has been going on, someone else mentioned it and I read about it (weighted produce/food).
Smart lady! I'm going to start checking, too.
LOL 😂, yea ... blue hair and a lip thing says ... I'm smart.
@@PeterRabbitWhatsup Please don't get distracted by her hair. Listen to what she is saying and the PROOF she is showing. Her hair and lips have nothing to do with the information.
I thot so! I bought a 10# chub of hamburger a week ago that weighed 8# when i got home! Grrrr!
I bet that hillbillie switched tags on the meat to try to shake down the company.
And that weight is with the packaging included, so its actually shorter than that😳😑!
That’s 4 pounds before packaging and adding something else to get the weight up. Yet it’s sold according to the package weight.
That is pretty bad! I know in past they do sales on Legos and in store they forget to mark them as such so if you don’t keep an eye on that when they are rung up you may not get sale price and not realize it unless you keep an eye on that when at register.
First, I stopped buying produce at Walmart, because it sucks there. Then I stopped buying meat there, because even their "deals" are too expensive. I'm not surprised they've gone to this level.
On top of that, they advertise in pounds but charge you in Kilos
The only thing i buy at The Wallsmart is engine oil and oil filters
Me too!
Are they screwing you, or trying to make you buy and eat more vegetables? Either way Walmart should replace that electric scale.
There's probably a 2.2 pound label on a 4.8 pound package somewhere. They may have just innocently mis-labeled those.
The other thing about Wallmart ground beef is it seems to be 30-40% added water. My Wallmart beef is boiling when it's in the skillet.
Agree, there are grey blobs forming all around the meat. Slime dodgers.
Walmart groud beef is disgusting! I will never buy it again!
I’ve noticed that about ground turkey too.
Dang now I gotta weigh everything
Whaat??? That's terrible! I have always shopped at Walmart and gotten really good meat, but will need to start double checking this. TFS
Of course them and any other retailer. I Don't participate.
Has to be a pricing error with the stickers. They've put the stickers on the wrong products.
I am glad that I can buy my meat from a local butcher shop where they weigh it out in front of me. I have another reason to avoid Walmart meat if I can.
F Walmart !
It’s cheaper than Kroger but is it ? If the weight is wrong then it’s not ! I however order my meat from a
Farm
Don't forget that "up to" 15% of that weight is ADDED water 💦
they are screwing you in more ways than one
That is quite a difference. At Sam's Club, I'll by Rosie Organic chicken, once in a while. I like to grill them along with burgers and steaks. There's no price difference yet I've seen there. Things seems on the up and up so far.
In California, the County fines the crap out of businesses who do this. I know of three Whole Foods that have signs on their window by the department in charge of the weights and measures.
I’d bet if you asked those ladies how much they weigh, they would be off many pounds as well 😂
I Love You All!
I worked 3 years in walmart meat dept.....all our meats come in prepackaged and already priced and weighed by tyson or any other meat company....we just put tiny use by date on it and put on shelf ..
She is a blue haired out of shape Karen looking to sue someone. Did she go to a big chain grocery store and do this?
I was thinking this too. The weak link is the checkout scale. Which if it's actually measuring half the weight, it's losing Walmart money, not the customer. They should have put something with a known weight on the scale to test it.
@mwbeck no it is not losing them money. You don't weigh your meat at checkout, you scan the code that matches what weight is listed on sticker price.
And it doesn't matter who put the sticker on, Walmart is responsible for falsely overcharging.
@@mwbeck would agree but visual alone, there's no way those were 4+ pounds of chicken each. They looked to be about 2 pounds. You can use the scale and counter as a visual point of reference.
Then why is there this huge settlement by Walmart if they did nothing wrong? Just curious
The Lord detests the use of dishonest scales
Proverbs 11:1a
I wasn't a regular, but I stopped going entirely because they made it 100 percent self check out. If you want me to be a check out scanner, I'll be happy to do it for 12% discount.
Yeah self checkout is so hard with kids . It’s just not worth it ! I do a lot of grocery pick up myself
Seems like a simple one off units mistake to be honest, unless there is widespread evidence of this in other stores?
Notice the crooked tag? This con woman swapped tags with another package.
If the products are prepackaged, then Walmart isn't too blame. As much at least. If they don't set the price.
The class action that I signed onto has to do with the produce. Luckily I have the receipts.
Hate to say it, but this is very very common everywhere you buy something that is in weight or volume. For example, I was in the gas business and when you think you are getting a full gallon of gas, good luck with that thought. You are getting about 3/4 of a gallon in many cases. Most stations do this and when they get caught they play dumb.
In the uk the big supermarkets can put an e at the end of the weight so if something is 600g (E) it can be as low as 350g and that legal in the uk and the eu .
Wow 😯 I’m gonna bring a scales to the supermarket now
i avoid walmart the stores are depressing
I only bought fish and tuna steaks and they are cheaper at Walmart since I do not have a Sam's Club membership. I am sure there is water weight and package weight they are adding with the costs. As far as screwing you the meat is still cheaper than other places so it is still a matter of perspective. Too many people there and the quality of food is bad I would shop elsewhere anyways.
Wow 😯. That is a big difference.
They have been ever since Sam died. The corporate vampires run the show now.
I wonder who owns Walmart . E S T
When will people learn that they are doing this to the MONEY as well!
Absolutely disgraceful
I buy all my meat from a butcher.
This could be a unit conversion issue. Pounds to kilograms.
1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds
2.2lbs/1kg x 2.2 kg = 4.84 lbs
2.2lbs/1kg x 2 kg = 4.4 lbs
0:20 It straight up says 2.00 lb
I would report that to your state agriculture department. They are typically responsible for scales and scale calibrations. There may even be a tag on the scales with a phone number to call. They will continue to get away with it until you report them. Publish the store location and details on all of your social media as well.
My father-in-law bought crab legs at Vons and thought they felt a little light. He asked the cashier to weigh them. They were two pounds lighter than labeled.
They have their Big Thumb on the Scale
Including the packaging.
No. California Company is. Says so right on the lable.
They should be punished!
I get better deals on meat elsewhere, egg prices are good though.

Pretty sure Walmart has the lowest margin on that 8 billion of any retailer in the world. It was 3.5% a few years back when they were doing better. Are you suggesting that they should close the stores after sales reach a certain figure?
@@NiceLoki 🤡
So! Doesn’t look like Shawn is buying steak at Walmart
I caught this same thing last year. It's a national crime taking place. They consolidated the grocers prior to the plandemic and this is part of their plan.
I have not shopped that evil empire for more than 19 years. And, I am still here. Never trusted them. There is no way I would have bought their food either. Are you kidding me? At least they had some critically thinking skills to weigh the evidence. Now the real question is, are they going to boycott them?
😅
Walmart.... Satan's supermarket 😮
Interesting!!!
Haha Walmart makes so much money. Why would they purposely do that? Not everything's a conspiracy. The real issue is that that's the worst quality meat from the grossest farms that money can buy. Maybe farmed salmon is worse.
Why is anyone surprised....I boycotted ALL major boxstores like Walmart, Sams and Costco many years ago....I ONLY support my local grocery stores!!! This goes for just about EVERYTHING! If everyone would do this our country would be in MUCH better shape! Oh and GO TRUMP!!!
You're scamming yourself by shopping at Walmart.
Find an Amish farmer near you.
Good idea❤❤❤
That's easier said than done
Oh my goodness ..
Did not see that coming
What is with all the "older women: these days with blue hair??
All these people shitting on Walmart in the comments are the same people who were most likely singing its praises decades ago when it first arrived and gave them those "killer deals" because they complained the mom and pops were gouging them.
Now these same people are advocating for the mom and pops because Wally World is screwing them over. Circle of life.
Freaking law suit
If she put in a tare weight it would change the values. Id have to have more information to to say this wasnt b.s.
I guess some decrease in weight is to be expected because of water evaporation, but that's probably too much.
@denissorn No, it's the opposite.
@@mllewendy1 what, meat becoming heavier because it absorbs water from the air? I think you have confused materials.
If it's enclosed it doesn't have anywhere to evaporate. I mean I know it might not be perfectly sealed but still.. you can't evaporate 2 pounds of water thru a potential small hole in the packaging. Take a bolw with 2 pounds of water, wrap it in the clear food plastic wrap as best as you can and make some small holes in it with a knife or something. It won't evaporate anytime soon, the meat would be rotten by then.
@@NotEvenDeathCanSaveU well i agree it's too much although IIRC it's not two pounds, but 0.2
What's the price per pound? Very hard to see.
it was like $4.97 a lb

WOW holy shiat
Who the hell buys meat at WalMart? Not me!
if u think other grocery chains arent using the EXACT same producers, u r delusional. paying more at publix for the exact same product makes zero sense. for example, compare brie & bleu cheeses at any grocery chain, sam's to food city, & wmart has the LOCK on supply & the absolute best price. for same wisconsin-produced cheese. wmart's great value brand offers what safeway does for practically half the price. target's mission statement isnt even to sell consumer goods, its to socialize the public or somesuch woke bs. shop & compare
@divingduck9 Walmart is woke too. I stopped shopping there in 2019 when the CEO of Walmart publicly called on Congress to enact more gun control laws.

Looks like they are showing kg but messed up the unit? The numbers are close and taking into account the weight of packaging it could be it. A similar programming error caused a space probe to desintegrate once so it can happen even in more professional setting.
It says lb and doesn’t look anywhere near what 4lbs of chicken would be
Sorry but I wouldn’t trust those two. 🤷♂️
I just reported this video. I hope youtube does the right thing and deletes it.
She should have brought it home and weighed it to see if it was just the register scale

It was true. Online news covered it. I believe there is/was a lawsuit and Wal-Mart is paying out.
I wonder why 😂
@@UnknownTomorrowthat was a couple months before this video was even made. And Walmart was just settling that case. So no it doesn't prove this is true at all.
This is what AP stated. Of course no company comes out to state they are to blame. For most posts, it was more genetic, about bagged citrus and "weighted food".
"The lawsuit claims certain sold-by-weight meat, seafood and citrus sold in bulk bags paid more than the lowest price advertised in stores, AP reports. While Walmart denied any wrongdoing, they agreed to settle, AP says."
For some reason, I dont trust her. Hard to take people with blue hair serious. If it was off a few ounces, then maybe but by half? Walmart is not that stupid! Greedy maybe, but not stupid. They know people are out to sue them for anything they can.

I'm with you !
they ARE being sued, so ur kneejerk prejudice is way off. not too late to sign onto the suit, no receipts required
First, how much can those scales handle? They are ment for fruits and vegetables. Also if someone sat on one or leaned on it it would throw off the calibration. Larger fruits aren't by the pound... Pineapple, watermelon, Cantaloupe, etc. So you don't put those on a scale that is that sensitive. Weigh it again when you get home , also aren't those weighed in the plant that they came from.? Not Walmart.
Is it normal for people to sit on them? And what’s the point of mentioning the larger fruit? If they aren’t by the pound then why mention that you don’t weigh them there? Why do you think she’d actually buy that and bring it home? There’s no way that’s 4lb of chicken. I am mostly carnivore, I know what 4lb of chicken looks like.
