If you could go back ten years and watch the first video I ever filmed of myself back in 2011 the most surprising thing (other than the fact that I still had hair!) would be how horrible it sounded.
I didn't know what I was doing back then. I just pointed my Canon 60D DSLR at myself with no microphone plugged in, set the camera to auto, stood 15 feet away, and hit record.
Once I sat down to start editing that video for Pocket Changed (my previous personal finance blog) I quickly realized "I need a microphone and I need it NOW!"
Fast forward a couple years and I was filming videos monthly for Fizzle and a couple clients, so I needed to step up my audio game.
I bought different microphones, audio recorders, USB interfaces, and more but the added complexities came with a learning curve too.
I knew if I wanted to make high quality videos I needed to learn how to record better audio in a range of different settings and scenarios.
What the heck is a pre-amp?
    XLR, TRS, TRRS, huh, what?
Noise gate? No clue what that meant.
Over the past ten years I've tested and reviewed so many different microphones, learned what settings to use, and experimented with the different kind of “feel” each type can give a video.
I want to simplify all of that for you and save you time learning about audio.
That's why today I'm launching my newest course: Audio Basics.
    Sign up here » www.diyvideosc...
Audio Basics is my “beginner” course focused on teaching you how to capture high quality audio when filming video.
In the course I simplify and distill the subject down to the essential things you need to know. The lessons are straight forward, easy to consume, and hyper focused.
Whether you are brand new to filming videos or have been doing it for a while but have never been happy with how your videos sound this 2+ hour long course is for you.
I have watched so many UA-cam videos over the years where people don’t really pay much attention to audio and it instantly makes me look for another video to watch instead. Don't let that happen to your videos.
This course is focused on choosing the right audio gear and how to to use it to capture great sound.
By the end of this course you will feel confident in the audio that you are recording. You will know which mic to use, what you should be paying attention to while recording, and fully understand how to use all the tools at your disposal.
Check out the course » www.diyvideosc...

This course is for you if you've ever asked...
If I use my phone to record videos, can I still get high quality audio?
How do I sync audio from an external recorder during editing?
Should I use a lavalier, shotgun, or broadcast style microphone?
Where are my audio levels supposed to be peaking at?
What's the best microphone to buy if I'm on a budget?
In just a couple hours you will learn what it takes to capture high quality audio.
For the first 48 hours the course is 20% off, so if you're interested now is the time to join.
I'm also partnering to sell this course as a "Lesson" via Moment (the smartphone lens & case retailer). They have a large library of online courses from other photo & video creatives and they are co-launching this course with me today too!

Hope to see you inside the course!
    Cheers,
    Caleb Wojcik

P.S. I also made a similar course earlier this year called Camera Basics, which is all about recording video in manual mode and what settings to use. If you find your camera overwhelming when filming a video (ISO and Aperture and Shutter Speed oh my!) and you aren’t comfortable with all its functions check it and my other courses out at www.DIYVideoSch...
P.P.S. If now isn't a good time for you financially with everything going on in the world, please don't feel pressured in any way to buy my courses. Wear a mask and stay safe out there.

Caleb: Just purchased your course. At an initial glance, it looks like it is really going to help me with my podcast/youtube channel. You have a lot of videos/categories that cover a lot of topics. Great work! And thanks for making this affordable. :-) P.S. I am still loving my Switchpod.
