  • Wine-searcher editor David Allen (MW), Master of Wine, reviews a classic French wine from Bordeaux, 2019 vintage Chateau La Lagune.
Château La Lagune is an wine estate in the Haut-Médoc region, just north of Bordeaux city and ranked as a third growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The highest-ranked estate bearing the Haut-Médoc title, its grand vin is made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot.
Owned and managed by Caroline Frey Chateau La Lagune is now at the forefront of Organic and Biodynamic viticulture in the Bordeaux region.

Dear sir, I thought 3rd Growth is 1855 Appellation not 1955.

You are correct the classification of the Medoc, Sauternes and Haut Brion was in 1855. I'm unsure what your point is though as I have listened back to the video and I say 1855 twice when referring to this? Perhaps that is not your point? There was a classification in 1955 but that was for the wines of St Emilion - I may reference that in other videos. but am not aware of having done so in this recording.
