  • So after the DIY mod didnt really work out and I didnt feel like fiddling with it, I ordered the Procycle Jet Kit for my bike. Finally got it installed, then I moved and then it snowed. Finally got the bike out to tune it and mess around. What a difference the jet kit makes, so happy I picked it up.

    once you get a better flowing exhaust you will really notice the difference man, i got huge increase in that alone, but that paired with the jet kit is bloody awsome

      I had always wanted to get better flowing exhaust! But I ended up selling the bike to get my Husky FE350. Stoked it made such a great difference for you!

    Go to the Adventure Oz videos them guys will tell you everything you need to know about the Bush Pig. They say with the air box mod, carb, and exhaust a 10% hp increase. It might be 10% but feels like 30% the way mine runs now you won't be sorry.

    This is the exact issue I was worried about. Anytime you modify the bike mechanically your throwing a monkey wrench into the reliability of the engine. Unless you are really mechanically inclined and know how to fine tune the carburetor I wouldn't mess with a high performance carb or jet kit. I got a dr because I wanted simplicity and reliability. You'll get that if you keep everything stock. Most I plan on doing is getting a full exhaust and opening up the airbox, getting a larger sprocket and the bike will be plenty torquey.

    Why did you sell it? I’m thinking of buying one I’ve had a lot of fuel injected bikes and I’m a little bit nervous about buying a carbureted one feel like I’m going backwards but it’s hard to find a bike in the 500-650cc category for a good price and low maintenance. I could find a DR for $6000 plus $2000 of upgrades. Or I could buy a KTM 690 R for $12,000+ what’s your thoughts on this. $12,000 to me is a lot of money but I would do it because sometimes you end up spending more money on upgrades and maintenance well you should’ve just bought the more expensive bike. I appreciate your time. Thank you.

    Hi mate, awesome video and you made it look so easy. Have you noticed much difference on the fuel economy? I plan to do a round the world trip so won't bother if it's negatively impacted too much.

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  6 років тому

      Well i cant exactly remember what my stock mileage was, I am currently getting about 35mpg of total off road ripping around(like 1st and 2nd gear with lots of throttle) the stock tune is pretty good for MPG. You can get good MPG here, but its more a matter of tweaking it. So I have confidence you can get great mileage with the Procycle jet kit, it just takes time to adjust it and really mess with it.

    Thanks for the great DIY vid. Two questions; I just bought the Pro Cycle jet kit and I don't see any instructions about the drilling you do @ the 3:20 mark of the video that you call "Drilling the slide" are you using the same drill bit that comes with the kit for the drilling out the fuel mixture brass plug? Where did you get the info to do this drilling?
    ringrang from Wisconsin.

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  5 років тому

      Oh man, been a while since I did this. Drilling the slide is a common mod for the DR650, you can see here at 2:30 ish that the slide is drilled with a bit about the size of the one for the needle ua-cam.com/video/aN1aU0G4YQE/v-deo.html So all you need is one that is just a touch smaller than the needle hole.

    • @overcome8628

      DONT DRILL THE SLIDE!

    • @robertgOU812
      @robertgOU812 3 роки тому

      @@overcome8628 I just modified my carb using this kit. The instructions do not mention the drilling of the slide, so I didn't. I did place the c-clamp at the 4th mark, but at the moment, I don't need choke, as it is too rich. I will have to disassemble and move the needle down to make it leaner. I have a stock muffler and the get is the 150. Let me know what you think.

    • @overcome8628
      @overcome8628 3 роки тому

      @@robertgOU812 Do not drill the slide per procycle advice. 150 is for a aftermarket exhaust. I think u need 145, call procycle they will tell u everything u need to know and answer all your questions.

    Thanks for uploading mate. Maybe a stupid question but i am planning on replacing my stock exhaust to a leovince exhaust. Going to keep the airbox stock. My question is do i only need to replace the main jet? Or also the pilot?

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  6 років тому

      I believe the pilot should be fine, but main jet likely needs to be changed. Unfortunately I no longer have the DR so I don't fully know! Best of luck!

  • @pilotdane1
    @pilotdane1 6 років тому

    Jaren, got my kit, and am in the middle of the install. Did you replace the float "O" rings like the instructions say to do ? - and also, did you find you had to do a lot of "tuning" like the instructions say ???? AKA - tear it all apart again, and move the little "E" clip on the needle up or down ????

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  6 років тому

      I did not replace any orings as mine looked all dandy and fine, only 3k miles. Yes I did have to fiddle just slightly to get it to run how I wanted, but that is part of the process of tweaking a carb to be just perfect. You will have to tune it to suit your altitude, start with the stock settings and go from there.

    understandably fuel mixture screw changes will be neccesary.

      This is Jaren here, thanks for watching man! The ProCycle Jet kit is really super easy to install, I would say the hardest part is drilling out the brass plug for the idle air mixture screw and then just the initial tuning after install to make sure it is running smooth. Install is super easy! It's $79 bucks and well worth it.

      Hey Man, thanks for the replies. I got the screw out shortly thereafter with a pair of vice grips. Got done in only a couple of hours, thanks to your video. That does not include the hour I lost on the stripped out screw.
      I got done late, so didn't get a chance to ride last night, however, she (Although "His" nickname is THOR) fired right up, and ran smooth as it ever did, but you can tell it's much more "throaty" and breathing a shit-ton better.
      Thanks again for the very informative video. Time to go out for a test ride, and probably some air screw adjustments !!!
      Cheers Amigo
