I love it!! Earliest mass produced vehicle with hydraulic suspension that I can think of is the Citroen DS from the mid 1950s. The hydraulic suspension automatically leveled and also lowered down when parked for easy access. The hydraulic suspension also allows for wheel/tire changes without jacking the car up. It also had headlights that turned with the steering wheel that I believe were hydraulically operated as well.
That Rolls is a Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward 2 door saloon (wow what a mouthful). 6.25L all alloy V8 and quite rare. Height adjustable hydraulic suspension all round. Late in the day but (from England) I can tell you that this Rolls is an early Silver Shadow Coupe, the predecessor of the Corniche. Early Shadows had all round hydraulic self levelling which was deleted after 1971 in favour of rear only height control. ostensibly to upgrade the handling but really to cheapen manufacture. This car was coachbuilt by Mulliner-Park Ward, a bankrupt traditional coachbuilder which RR had recently taken over. The colour is not British Racing Green - that would be much darker and non-metallic. It clearly once had a vinyl covered roof, fashionable in the late sixties, and was probably a British delivery as it's RHD. A nice car, still cheap for what you get, and restoration is only now becoming viable as values slowly increase. Great channel too!

My dad bought this car 2 years ago and has fallen in love with it you get the coil overs thats the way to go. And my dad says if you get it it will spoil ever car you'll ever own. Its a hard car to beat! Buy it!!!
The rollers used a Citroen hydraulic suspension licensed to them. They used it in all rollers. Citroen was fantastic for the hydraulic suspension esp in the DS 21 Pallas I was always happy to own.
I’m fairly certain that CL65 had multiple collisions with multiple baseball bats and/or blunt objects. Easiest explanation of the isolated dents, smashed windows, etc.
Yep. It’s vandalism. From the owner perhaps? Tired of the looming brake, tire, reset service light bill, etc. Or, this car has maybe trickled down from an expensive, garaged neighborhood to a run down apartment building in a blighted part of town, and it caught the eye of a jealous ex-girlfriend’s husband.
Cool channel, car is a classic. I just purchased a 2003 Audi RS6 and it's incredible. Twin-turbo V8. Similar hydraulic issues tho but the past owner installed coilovers. Merc is worth it IMO
Citroën DS had Hydropneumatic suspension in 1950's, they started putting it in passenger cars, so Rolls and Mercedes adopted it later on high end models.

Yaseenshuja. The CL63 badge is Mercedes way of saying the car is a V8. The 65 badge identifies the car as a V12. It also identifies the cars as AMG builds as the factory cars are badged CL500 for V8's, and CL600 for V12's. This badging covers both the 215 and 216 models. The S class is the 220 model and subsequent 4 door models. The CLS models are built on E class platforms, not S class, so a CLS63 is a very different beast to a CL63, but both are V8's built by AMG.
Yaseenshuja; Sorry dude, just checked some AMG figures, and you are right, there were some V12's built in the early nineties, and badged as C63's. The production numbers are crazy low, like 23 or something, but they are still there. Maybe they rationalized the badging after this.
Andrew Longfield yeah there is VERY little data about the v12 6.3 cars. All I know is they were double digit production numbers and used a modified v12 that was originally the 5.8 v12
That was a mulliner roller. They do aftermarket stuff on rolls. Extra levels of luxury etc. not sure about the suspension though. I'd definitely buy that bad boy.
An M275 straight piped is practically orgasmic. It's surprisingly quiet. Just a stock S600 I had with the rear part of the exhaust removed sounded like a Lamborghini. 😂
I've got a bone to pick with you, good sir. I took your advice and used eManualOnline and boy was that a mistake. Let me explain because I'm sure you're going to want to hear this. I have a 2014 Ram 2500 4X4 w/6.7 Cummins. I ordered what was claimed to be the service and repair manual for this vehicle. Well, the first time they sent me a manual for a 2003 Cobra King dirt bike. So I contacted them to let them know there was an error. They responded with a link to DL another manual, but this time for "2009-2014 dodge ram" which is a bit strange because over that period of time there were drastic changes between the 1500s alone so it's odd that they'd be all included in one manual. Anyways, I start looking through this "manual" and it's literally over 17,000 pages of random information on various models throughout that year range and lacks huge swaths of information, like nothing on any of the suspension or front axle which is what I need it for. It really looked more like someone photocopied a Chiltons manual and complied it into a huge pdf. No table of contents, or any organization. Just random pages of information and nothing complete for any year or model. So I again reach out to customer service and in the period of 18 hours they send me the same pdf just renamed six different times. I continue to explain that this doesn't cover my truck and they tell me that this is all they have... and no mention of refunding my money. So I tell them specifically that I'd like a refund since they obviously do not have what they sold me. They then tell me that "we have another manual, which is software driven. That manual definitely includes your model. I can set that up for you if you wish." Clearly this is a bait-and-switch. I don't want anything but what was advertised, which is a pdf service and repair manual for a 2014 Ram 2500 4X4. Now all of a sudden, after 18 hours of them sending me the wrong manual, six times over in hopes I'd eventually go away, they "definitely" have the manual. I just need to get their software and have one of their techs set it up? Yeah, no thanks. This has all the hallmarks of a scam. It's been awhile now since I've requested a full refund and they've not responded. I honestly can't believe you're recommending this to your subscribers. Damn, now I'm burned on $20 and I still need to get the specifics for pulling apart my front axle. Thanks Alex, I hope they pay well. 🤷♂️
I have a 2001 CL600 NA V12 with 56k when I bought it 4 years ago now 66k well maintained . It is a gem what you found. The sound of the V12 alone would be the decision to restore it.

I wouldn't buy it for more than half of what you can part it for, worst case scenario you part it and break even on time. There is easily 20k worth paint and body that car needs, if nothing else is broken...
The pattern of the damage looks like it could’ve been a pedestrian involved accident. All damage from front to back person clipped knee level deflects into windshield rolling over top sunroof, down the back impact would surely damage roof as well as break rear glass . It looks very possible from that aspect. Just saying 40k miles immaculate interior, yeah the pipes were straight out which to me makes it more viable . Just saying...

The result was 692.3 HP and 930 NM at the engine , 613.7 WHP and 849 MN measured at the wheels.
Love your channel, warm greetings from Dubai!
Hi Alex. Love the channel. Why not swap the guts and interior in a another CL body...would be something different to see as well
I thought this would be an early CL63 V12. Those are RARE
No... mulliner works with Bentley this custom is by another company
An M275 straight piped is practically orgasmic. It's surprisingly quiet. Just a stock S600 I had with the rear part of the exhaust removed sounded like a Lamborghini. 😂
Very interesting. Good luck. You're my favorite automobile UA-camr. Looking forward to the next video on the DeLorean.
8:28 Exactly! In real german pronounce it like "day-sin-yo"
Dude I work for this exact location, and I've seen this car.
beware gravity where is this at?

Monster RAM lookup dodge I know ford has a shop manual from ford you and rent for like $21 for 3 days
I like the color, "British Rustin' Green"!
I have a 2001 CL600 NA V12 with 56k when I bought it 4 years ago now 66k well maintained . It is a gem what you found. The sound of the V12 alone would be the decision to restore it.
Buy the CL65! But make sure that you get VTuneds number from Samcrac before you do!
“ Rich builds “ walks through at the end.....could it be a Tesla ? 🙀
Maybe that P100 they saw
"Mom took me to the Junkyard" It sounds like a video worth making.
yea, single parent household growing up. i think he asked his mom to take him so he could fix the family car
@@gregh7457 the way he said it about sitting in the cars and using his imagination sounded more like a pleasure trip to the jy not a business trip. Nontheless there is a story to be told.

5:41 obligatory Supra joke (recycle count +1)
Funny I just bought a 2014 gl550 this week for my wife, tis super nice. Eurocharged tune gets it to 600tq to the wheels and 460 to 470 hp to wheels.
LOL! Samcrac creeping in @0:14! Great video @LegitStreetCars. Thanks for sharing.
At the end of the video... Isn't that the homeless guy from CT? He sure gets around.

Hydro-pneumatic suspension licensed from Citroen.
I had a 1976 Merc 300D that had hydraulic electric Windows that were slow inverted gauntlets. I converted it cosmetically to a period correct Polizei vagen, it was awesome!
Hey Alex , been away for a while but now I’m back, I can resume watching your channel!
The rolls Royce had hydraulic steering, suspension, and brakes. I think I am correct, not sure!
my honda civic has hydraulic steering its called power steering
Too bad it was the roof... If it was the floor sam could help you to glue the floor together.
I wouldn't buy it for more than half of what you can part it for, worst case scenario you part it and break even on time. There is easily 20k worth paint and body that car needs, if nothing else is broken...

There is a CL65 with 100k miles in CA right now for $6300 BIN... No body damage. On Copart
They dont hold their value
Not every car has a collision Sam. It looks like it was vandalised by an angry ex wife lol
I said a tree fell on it?
Oh I didn't know
The pattern of the damage looks like it could’ve been a pedestrian involved accident.
Could be right.
Or an ex girlfriend
Happy to see you and Sam in the same video
