This movie just gave me a completely random thought: imagine if zombies attack and you get bit in front of Roanoke and the last thing you hear is "oof, that's pretty cringe, you should have stayed strapped so you wouldn't get clapped" before you get domed
To answer why uncoupling the infected cars wasn’t an option: Bullet trains aren’t a bunch of individual cars like most trains. The entire train is essentially one segmented unit. While a segment CAN be removed, it basically takes an entire garage and a crane to do it.
One of my favorite things about this movie, is the homeless man's story arc. He's useless, and needs to be saved or puts the group in extreme danger constantly. But at the end, he makes the ultimate sacrifice to save the others. The man is as much of a giga chad as Sang-hwa in his final moments.
Not quite… Swang-hwa slammed infected out of the way and picked one of the freaking infected up and used him as a shield! The homeless man did sacrifice himself to save the girl and pregnant woman but he basically used himself as a shield as he didn’t have the necessary strength and fighters spirit to reach Sang-hwa’s Giga Chad status! Maybe as brave as Sang-hwa but not as Giga Chad.
@@christianmarshal6117 I’d argue that the fact that he used his not as muscular build as the friggin shield and successfully held the horde long enough is just as gigachad as one could be or atleast in someone in the same circumstance as him
The homeless man Caused half the problems... Congrats. You're infected cause you kept going back for the useless guy who eventually made up for it at the very end cause he owes you his life multiple times over.
@@Bingobongo45 I say he might be an even bigger chad than Sang-Hwa even. At least Sang-Hwa from the start already had that hero vibes to him, but the homeless man went from a walking liability to a hero at the end. He did not let his previous failures get to his heroism.
Nicknaming a baby until it's born is really common in east asian countries. A meaningful name is usually chosen like Toughie if the baby survives a traumatic event or if the mother has miscarried multiple times before. Or Sleepy if the baby is very calm and doesn't do a lot of kicking. In the past, the baby would go by this nickname for several months after birth until they were pretty sure it wasn't going to die suddenly. Only then did they name the baby. Nowadays the baby can be named in utero without such fears, but the nickname thing is still used until a name is settled on by lots of people.
My family still does this. My son was Hush Puppy. I was Peaches. My brother was Drucilla (grandparents were convinced he was a girl, changed it to Zilla when he was born). My mother and her sister were Puddin' and Pumpkin, respectively. It's a nice way to speak about the infant-to-be without knowing the name yet.
Fun fact- The absolute unit Gigichad Hero got the role for Gilgamesh for Eternals just for playing his role in this movie. The producer for Eternals loved his actions so much, he said he got the part and didn't have to audition for it.
He was horribly under utilized in that film. Best part of the movie was the dinner scene when we are introduced to him and Angelina Jolie. Everything else was so bland.
@@HaYlEeXx19 true, i think it depends on if religion has a larger influence, legal system, and social cultures. my taiwan and philippines experience are helpful
@@HaYlEeXx19It’s advice given in multiple countries, not just Asian ones-that is, if you see someone doing crazy shit to leave them alone/get out of there instead of intervening because of the risk that comes with getting their attention. That said, moving to a safe place to call the police from is still helpful, so I wish people would hammer that advice into each other’s heads instead of the binary “you don’t see shit” vs. “be a hero”…
As an American living in Korea, the most unbelievable part of this entire movie about zombies to me is the lack of traffic as he drives to the train station. Lol
There’s also a prequel movie to Train to Busan, the animated film Seoul Station. It sets up a few riots and spreading of the disease, as well as why the apartment building is on fire and the homeless man is so terrified. It might be worth looking at for supplementary information, but it very much is a movie with a message.
Oh, cool, I didn't know that! All I knew is that there is also a second film called Peninsula that came out in 2020. I'll have to see if I can find it.
I believe its called vasculitis, which is basically what you already described. I think there is another infection called lymphangitis that does a similar thing, but instead of blood vessels it only causes a red streak, but either one does require immediate medical attention before it's too late.
The streaks of red going up towards the heart is a huge red flag for sepsis. It's typically caused by infection that made it's way into the blood stream causing vasculitis and is going system wide. If it travels to your central vascular system then the infection can quickly lead to septic shock. Lymphangitis is an infection that can cause sepsis if left untreated. I have central venous catheter port to my heart which is high risk of infection; so I'm warned often of sepsis lol.
@@imnotchikao6317 thats a normal misconception, "Blood Poising" aka a Sepsis is dangerous for your Meat Suit but u cant 'John Cena' style see it like a lymphangitis. Thats the one with the red trail on our vessels but not really that Dangerous compared to a sepsis.
While I can understand why people hate characters like Yon-Suk in movies, I want to think these tropes are there to remind the viewer that "This is what your average joe would do when push comes to shove". Nobody is gonna be a giga-chad like Sang-Hwa because once your self-preservation instinct kicks in. You too will be shoving tons of people down if it means it gets you 1 more second to run away. I applaud the actor and writers for being able to portray such a character. While everyone likes to play the hero, Yon-Suk is the one I can relate to the most.
@@rnlansdownemobile Not really. Yon Suk was so selfish that he endangered even himself. Yon Suk is the guy who would actively scatter shopping carts across the parking lot if he were in the shopping cart thought experiment. There were many times where not only there was no need to sabotage everyone else, doing so actually worsened his chances. Yet he did so anyway. There's self-serving and there's screwing over everyone else just because.
Hey Roanoke, I knew somebody who passed away from a suspected lyssavirus like Rabies, and it blows me away how someone could imagine that someone in such a state could bite anyone.
ikr? people w rabies become so emaciated and weak??? not to mention the hydrophobia. the person who said that rlly needs to get back into science class
It depends on the person but there are two ways it can affect someone - 1) You get aggressive and delerious which may cause biting as a defense (which is exactly why animals with rabies bite others.) 2) You get extremely weak to the point of paralysis. If you are delerious then you can do all sorts of things from walking in freezing conditions naked to dancing until you literally die. Weakness is not a good reason as to why someone cannot do something in such a state, they can and will burn all their remaining energy (to the point of death) doing a sprint if they feel like it. I.e one guy who suffered from such a bout of delerium he attacked a friend, ran around naked, climbed a barbed wire fence, crashed a car (and was severley injured) and then dived head first into a running plane engine. Make sense? Nope... but he did it.
@@blakbeansoup7540 I see your point, but there HAS to be at least one case in the woods somewhere where Billy Bob went nuts from a mad dog and gave it to Dale.
I feel like being in a zombie apocalypse when in a group of survivors with Roanoke, It would the most interesting group. Imagine being in an active fight with zombies and Roanoke is out there explaining to us the science as to how the zombie virus works.
Let me be clear, I like his vid but if me and my group are in the fight of our life while he’s rattling off shit like “that’s not rabies, and one of our group acts like a beta” he’s gonna be the first to go
I think the saddest part about Yong-suk was that he was only being bad because he wanted to go back to find his elder mom, which shows that he was only doing right in his perspective, because he loved his mom more than anything that he was willing to push everyone under to get back to his mom. I think he was originally morally grey before he went full evil because he was super determined to go home to his mom.
@@Dukesparrow1999 Let's be real, Sang-Hwa is an illusion, a dream everyone has when fantasizing about being a chad in the heat of it all. But in reality, everyone will act like Yong-Suk, pushing others down even if it means that will only get you 1 more second to run away. We as a species still has that selfish survival instinct ingrained deep in our mindset no matter how much everyone wanna sugarcoat it. There should be no good people in the apocalypse once shit hits the fan, because they would have died while trying to save others, only self-serving people like Sang-Hwa will remain and fight each other. It may sound pessimistic, but I think that's realistic.
Honestly, I always felt like it was an excuse. That he wasn't being sincere. He waves the fact around to garner sympathy, while causing dozens and dozens of people to get infected, half the time making it worse for himself.
Having lived through two separate home-destroying disasters, I'm honestly rather positive on humanity's outlook in disasters. Most people cooperate and take care of each other, listen closely when other people are sharing survival tips, and are quick to adapt to utter chaos. So, to be honest, I'm not quite sure zombie outbreaks will be nearly as bad as people like to think.
Because as viral as the Cor0na virus was, it wasn't very dangerous in terms of it's spread of infections, as well as it's symptoms compared to a "zombie" virus. People panicked, yes, and we did fell into a society slump so to speak, but to compare how we treat that with, say, a virus that causes the infected to became enraged in less that 24 hours (generally speaking, not just using the Train-to-Busan virus as an example) would be foolish. It took MONTHS for the world to band together and put up a "surefire" measures against the Cor0na virus disaster. And that's AFTER the virus spreads to several countries, infecting more than hundreds of thousands of peoples. Look, I get that it's good to have positive look on the future, but you gotta acknowledge things as it is. It tooks more than half a year for the GHO to come up with a solution, and the best they could do in the meanwhile is lessen the amount of casualty and infections. Against what is essentially a "slightly" more dangerous version of a fever. Against something that guarantees a 100% mortality rate disease which spreads faster than a simp posting their "appreciation" to a post from their chosen thots 5 seconds ago? It'll be anarchy. You think the peoples in zombie movies are stupid? Remember the Toilet Paper Shortage? It's gonna spread fast, and it'll end fast. Either by killing off all possible infected individuals and the those that would appear in the future afterwards, or by having our species reduced to insignificant numbers or even wiped out by it. We band together for the sake of convenience. The moment that part vanished, we'll turn on each other faster that the virus spreads to us. Again, I reiterate. It's FINE to think positive. But don't confuse it with being naive. Humans are a bunch of dumb, stupid animals. Despite our claims of being individuals, we still and always goes back to our herd mentality. And when that happens, always expect them to behave like herd animals does when confronted by dangers.
Might be a big difference between a disaster you can comprehend, and something totally alien to us. Also culture plays a big role in such things. If you live in a community where people know each other and are used to cooperating, helping and interacting with neighbors, its gonna be totally different, than for example if you look at USA cities and such where looting is rampant whenever anything happens.
night of the living dead got it right, i think. a small group of strangers trapped together, stranded far from any help - that group starts to break down due to stress and uncertainty and clashing personalities. but on the outside, it was a relatively simple thing for people to team up, grab their shotguns, and very quickly get the zombie threat under control through cooperative action.
@@TheGuindothing is social media gives ypu a good sight om how majority people are. Heck some gun owners say "step on my lawn I'll shoot you" cuz its there property. I could very easily see alot of gun owners just holding up with there family and just becoming isolated wanting nothing to do with the outside. Most people are inherently selfish aswell (look whenever there's a panick on anything)
Roanoke can tell you everything about virology known to man, but cannot tell the difference between a baseball team and a basketball team 6:40 Ignoring that, I'm so happy you did this movie. It's my favorite zombie movie, hands down. Thank you for another great video, as always!
@ 22:38 if I remember correctly. The hedge fund managers were also responsible for managing budgets or something. They were responsible for laying off or firing some fairly important people in the biotech research side of their company which eventually caused the outbreak. I THINK Roanoke covered that part, or maybe I dreamed it. Idk
IIrc the hedge fund company saved the biotech firm from bankruptcy, allowing them to continue their research which led to the outbreak. So the hedge fund company was indirectly responsible for the outbreak.
Sang-hwa is the only guy (besides Bert Gummer from the Tremors franchise) that me and my friends all instantly decided we love from the moment he was on screen, and were genuinely upset about dying. We honestly were saying early on we hoped him, his wife and Seok-woo’s daughter would all live (no offence to Seok-woo we were iffy on him at the start but still all admit he turned out good by the end).
Train to Busan is hands down one of my favorite Zombie flicks. Great cast, tension, fast paced and with a heart wrenching ending, that almost rivals the ending of Cargo. Effects are very well done, great combination of practical and computer generated and characters you actually WANT to see survive this. The sequel was sadly not as good, at least in my personal opinion. But this one? 💯 Recommend!!😎👍👍
Yep, I haven't seen the sequel, but the original is fantastic. My only criticism is the lame ass saving grace montage the guy sees as he dies right at the end
22:38 if anything they might have delayed it because if the funding to the lab was suddenly cut it would have most likely led to the disease getting out earlier. Also, there is both a prequel and sequel. In the prequel it is shown that getting scratched also spreads the virus albeit at a much slower rate. This would be my head cannon as to how Yu-Suk got infected and why it took so long for him to turn as well as why he didn't know of being infected.
7:42 this freaked me the fuck out. I have small purple veins in my legs called spider veins and from what I understand, it's genetic (my grandma has it more prominently). They just showed up semi-recently, so I panic-researched and found that spider veins aren't harmful. Crisis averted, but now I'm paranoid haha. I tried to look into the actual thing you're referring to here and all I came up with was thrombosis and blood clots. Editing this comment only to add that Sang-Hwa is a BEAST
@@billlongjohnsonmillano6268 Varicose veins are actually different from spider veins! Varicose veins happen when the vein gets twisted and bulges out while spider veins are much smaller and don't bulge out of the skin. They are both purple/blue or red in color tho
So two things. Im a paramedic with a bachelors in psychology and neurochemistry. Gotta say I love your videos that I just discovered today. Second of all. The thing you’re looking for post trauma is usually some type of peripheral artery or vessel disease or a type of vasculitis which infects the vessels and/or blood and it reaches the heart leading to a type of acute heart disease leading to failure or leading to a possible carditis leading to an acute myocardial infarction which is incredibly rare for a disease or virus but theoretically possible if it causes a shrinkage and eventual closing of coronary vessels, or a fun type of peripheral thrombosis coming from the wound clotting traveling up the small vessels of the arm or the large vessels of the arm going to the heart leading to, you guessed it, myocardial ischemia leading to a myocardial infarction also known even more as a heart attack or possibly a pulmonary embolism which depending on where it is will cause ischemia and infraction of lung tissue and heart tissue or also possibly a cerebral stroke. It’s more likely those but also possible to be lymphadenitis and possibly causing a heart attack at the most and atleast sepsis.
I was rewatching this as background noise and I just heard the "he laid there like a slug it was his only defense" Christmas Story reference. Roanoke is the best
I LOVE this movie. So happy you're covering it. I like to think the reason we don't bite is because we're smarter and we don't rely on biting like other mammals. If we were to turn hyper aggressive we would just beat others with whatevers we could pick up. Just an opinion.
Biting would be more risk than anything. We have a big squishy, fragile brain and major blood vessels in our necks. Biting would offer those up as a big target to strike at
I agree with this from an evolutionary standpoint. Most of us no longer have noticeable canine teeth anymore because we’ve evolved past basic animalistic techniques of hunting, so we’d be more in line with the 28 Days Later zombies with hurting people and expelling internal liquids in order to spread.
Now if you had a zombie in close quarters or restrained I think they would try biting. Because that’s about when *I* would consider biting. If someone has me pinned I will do whatever I have to if it means getting out and that includes chomping down on an arm.
The old lady letting all the zombies in is a baller move. I highly enjoyed her decision to decide the fate of those idiots being lead by an a-hole. The only problem with that moment is the a-hole survived because reasons. They kept writing this antagonist to have god level luck so he can be a constant thorn in the viewers eyes.
the bright side of this scenario is that it's very probable that the infected wouldn't last more than a few days, either due to blood loss from their wounds, dehydration, or the virus itself destroying critical parts of the brain. to expand on dehydration, there's not a lot of freely accessible water in most urban areas, which is where the virus really spreads, and it's likely that in the course of the infection spreading that water supply might get cut off. admittedly, the sight of a massive herd of zombies gathered around a city's one working water feature to drink does amuse me - and would also make a great place to drop a hellfire missile.
Not really a Hellfire, you'd want something like a Thermobaric weapon. A Hellfire would blow them apart and blast infected meat into that water supply.
When "Parasite" was in the theaters, UA-cam recommended "Train To Busan." I'd seen South Korean movies, so I thought I knew what I was getting into. The roller coaster ride through Fear/Dread/Anger/Sorrow left me emotionally drained. Kudos to the writer(s), director(s), actors and, especially the stunt performers for creating a Modern Classic.
The actor who plays Sang-Hwa, his name is Ma Dong-Seok. I highly recommend watching movies with him, especially "The Outlaws" and "The Roundup" movies. He's actually a great actor, REALLY great one with incredible sense of humour. He plays a cop in those movies and its just so fun to watch.
Roanoke, I just want to say that you're channel unexpectedly became a form of motivation and help for me personally right now. I started watching you a year ago, and as of recent I shifted College Courses due to a lot of stuff, now I'm at a Medical Course to become, or rather to hopefully become a Nurse. retained knowledge of mine from your vids here and there unexpectedly helped me in the lectures I've had. Thank you.
Train to Busan is a very well crafted zombie movie, and a lot of things about the virus and the way it infects it's host are explainable. I like how the train got time to start before the girl turned because she cut off her blood supply, and the overall vibe of the zombies too, they are very cool.
I love the reviews amd can't get enough of the commentary and the general pushing of more positive things, there really isn't enough of that now a days. Chad dads should be the rolemodel standard.
13:32 They technically can decouple the cars there. But the problem is, their parked right in the Mainline. They need to find a siding first to decouple safely as another train might come and start a huge traffic or even an accident.
'Trian to Busan' does have a sequel. It's train to 'Busan presents: Peninsula', it's more action with crew pulling off a multi million dollar heist in zombie infested Korea. Not a tearjerker as the first film, but pretty fun nonetheless.

It's very realistic of how you and I would act in such a scenario. Highly recommend.
Sang-hwa is literally so beautiful in every single way Also, it was more along the lines of the old lady letting herself be a sacrifice so that the others could escape. It's why she shook her head at her sister and didn't try to move. She knows she's old, weak, and slow so she made that her last act. It's also why the sister opened the door, her sister wouldn't have had to sacrifice herself had the other people let them in earlier. Not smart but understandable

Hey Roanoke! You should check out the "Wildfire Virus" from The Walking Dead. It actually has quite a lot of information regarding the pathophysiology of the virus, as well as new information coming out regarding mutations in the newer seasons/shows.

I somehow long conned myself into thinking you’ve already covered Train to Busan. I’m damn glad I was wrong, this is an awesome thing to drop into my lap! Going in shocked that it’s not rabies, though. It’s so often rabies…
Hahaha best line in history. "Oopsie doopsie, we made a fucky wucky". You, sir, are a genius akin to the greats. Bill Shakesspeare would be honoured to know you.
Honestly, this is one of the more realistic zombie type movies out there. In reality, most people would just ignore or not even notice someone who is showing signs of turning. And by the time they did notice, it's already too late and they're either being thin, or there is a large group of them in your proximity. And in reality, emergency service workers would Paris be the first victims in the spreaders of this outbreak. Probably firefighters and EMT would be the first. And let's face it the police are into kill, and a chest shot wouldn't take them down. Aiming for the head is always been a foolproof plan an old zombie movies, but it takes a while for people to figure that out. And in this universe like every other, zombie movies don't exist so no one knows what to do. It's a good movie, and it has rewatch value
I feel like people not instantly knowing to go for the head is kind of necessary in movies like this, cause otherwise the movie would be about half an hour to an hour long. The military and even law enforcement are very much taught how to take down dangerous individuals, including headshots in extreme situations. Which is also kinda why this movie has to be set in Korea, firearms aren't easily available even to police and they don't really have that big a standing military compared to the US. But most importantly, if something like that were to go down there, most people wouldn't notice and by the time it's too late, their culture really isn't one of violence. Here in the US, you'd have the non-infected hunting down the infected with basically any weapon they could find, be it a gun or a baseball bat.
@@ericlamb4501 you make very valid points. This movie would only work in Korea. Hearing United States we would notice that someone wasn't acting right, and do something immediately. Like the movie goes, they ignore the infected and Target the homeless man because he was an outsider. Even though you had a woman acting strangely as if she was having seizures. And thanks to her the whole entire train gets infected.
@@domomitsune5920I don’t think most people would notice someone acting weird especially in heavy populated cities with homeless and addicts. Especially if it was in New York most people would ignore it cause it’s not odd. I agree with everything else you stated though.
Train to Busan might be my favorite ever zombie movie. I think the reason why Korean zombie media feels so much better than American stuff is that they actually make you feel an attachment to the characters and make some scenes very emotional.
I love the Koreans for bringing back the zombie genre after it had slowed down hard in the last decade, Train to Busan, All of Us Are Dead, #Alive, these are just so damn good
@@koppsr I like it alot, especially for the main character that feels very human and makes you go "I'd probably do/react like that too in that situation", worth a watch for sure

When you mentioned seeing a red line on your skin after a bite I think you were talking about Lymphangitis. I actually just had this after getting bit by some kind of bug on 4th of July, on my middle toe. It started off all itchy and swollen. I just cleaned it up out some cream on it and went on about my life like I normally would. Then 3 days later it looked infected and I noticed the lymph node in my upper thigh felt swollen and painful. The next day I got a red line from the bite traveling up my foot. Got a nice round of antibiotics and had to keep the wound clean and it eventually got better. But yea, definitely not something to mess with. I still have a left over blister from it. It’s all healed but occasionally it will randomly itch.
Peninsula (the sequel to train to Busan) doesn't really offer much in terms of the infected and how they work other then.... i guess the effects of being infected for sometime and how humans would live in a infested world and i love to hear your thoughts on it
It hit me like flashbang when I heard Roanoke say 'They made a fucky wucky'....I was cleaning at work and burst out laughing as my coworkers looked at me like I was crazy.

Honestly the beginning where roanoke is kinda rambling about viruses and all that is comforting for me in the sense that my mind constantly wanders to all sorts of world ending scenarios. So knowing that I'm not the only one who does it is cool
Hey, Roanoke, you talking about irl septicemia? Blood poisoning? That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head. Also, Sang-hwa wins Dad of the goddamn Century. Knew he was gonna die right out of the gate, as my favorites so often do in things like this, but still a boss regardless.
first video I've come across from your channel, really love the way you indulge into the biology of this virus. Really fun to watch a video about my two favorite things, scifi biology and real biology
This actually gives me a new appreciation for the amount of thought that went into the virus and its symptoms since it’s not really explored in the movie, it just happens.
My mom got bit by my cat once when she tried to give the cat a pill… I was out of town and luckily my petsitter saw the red line going up my mom’s arm and told her to go to the doctor ASAP 😵
Cat bites in particular have a pretty significant chance of getting infected (those needle-shaped fangs will punch bacteria pretty deep into the wound), so they should _always_ be taken seriously!
Yup. Agree. Mom's kitten got itself covered in meatloaf grease. Gave kitten an emergency bath. Kitten freaks out. Kitten then bites Mom. I pry kitty off mom. I tell dad to take Mom to the er immediately. I ignore Dad's griping. After, they get home, I explain kitty freaked out, got a hold of the first solid thing near her. That's why she bit,Mom. Mom is fine.
22:47 Nice reference to Shakespeare's Macbeth. I love these videos, I've just been going down one at a time and I'm glad this great movie was analyzed.
The thing with the vessel traveling up your arm is referred to as a line infection I believe? Crazy to think I'm taking antibiotics ATM (300 mg of Clindamycine, three times a day) and i dont know what it's exactly called. I also freaked out once you brought it up at the beginning of the video because I was like WOAH I HAVE THAT ATM LOL. But yes it can reach your heart and it can kill you. Be careful out there guys! (Hope you see this Roanoke love your videos man 😭)
I am happy to see a biologist fella making these types of videos. You are actually inspiring me to potentially start a channel with this kind of content in Spanish if I ever have the time to do so. Thank you, for real.
Based on what you said near the end of the video, I could see a World War Z Movie strategy. While the virus may not create a distinct scent, there is a scent humans and other animals give off when sick, especially with a fever increasing sweating. Regarding the way to survive, I could definitely see myself actually surviving this one since my supply of insulin would last long enough! Type one sucks in a zombie outbreak that lasts a long time. While longevity is my weakness in this scenario, access to power tools and a history of home renovation and prop making would be useful in constructing makeshift shields out of cabinet handles and large boards. At LARPs, I've seen plywood shields stand up to full on body checks from 200+ lb people in 50+ lbs of costume, so with a solid construction, arming a makeshift shieldwall militia would be viable. Ultimately, guns aren't a rarity in the US and even in Korea, there are groups (military, some law enforcement) who can get strapped, so I could definitely see within a day engineers create walled compounds and people shoot over the walls. This is an infection, not true zed, so they aren't more durable than baseline and can be taken out by a few rounds to the chest. Once the initial infection is over, however, due to the zoonotic nature of this pathogen, I would definitely be concerned about infected animals. Even if someone dies from dehydration, they might infect their dog at the end or something and the dog might infect wildlife, so on and so forth. Walled compounds would definitely be a housing trend from there and animal control stocks would be to the moon, not that the movie's hedgie could take advantage. Ultimately, this infection seems very dangerous in its initial shock due to sprinters, but by day two things would be dying down fairly quick. I could easily see humanity surviving this. I am a bit confused on the impact of respiratory infection from the hanta virus though. You mention it can be spread through droplets, so a respirator is 100% necessary. Let me know if you see any gaps in my notes. I'd love to further discuss.
You didn't mention it during the final horde chase scene, there is an absolutely hilarious moment where some of the horde run into something where they all, for no reason at all, experience an explosion of bodies like a wave against a rock. It was to show how they move like a hive but it is so impractical and hilarious, it just adds to this movie

I do believe you were describing Sepsis, or blood poisoning. Basically a rare infection of the blood vessels by bacteria that yes, is fatal if it reaches the heart. Happens when you cut yourself just deep enough you wont bleed out but the blade was not clean and had bacteria on it that got past the immune system. Can also happen if you say go to the doctor to give blood and the needle wasnt clean or was improperly handled.
Can also happen when cells go through necrosis and enter the bloodstream. It’ll give you that iky black color (can be red/purplish too), which clog the heart and kill you. Thanks Boy Scouts!

True gigachad.
This is both sad and wholesome all at once 🥲

I believe its called vasculitis, which is basically what you already described. I think there is another infection called lymphangitis that does a similar thing, but instead of blood vessels it only causes a red streak, but either one does require immediate medical attention before it's too late.
I guess he means Lymphangitis.the Vasculitis is Just a House Term for any bloodvessel inflammation.

@@rnlansdownemobile

Yon Suk is the guy who would actively scatter shopping carts across the parking lot if he were in the shopping cart thought experiment.

Yet he did so anyway.

“Oopsy doopsy we made a big fucky wucky” is a fantastic phrase.
It depends on the person but there are two ways it can affect someone -
1) You get aggressive and delerious which may cause biting as a defense (which is exactly why animals with rabies bite others.)
2) You get extremely weak to the point of paralysis.

Eh, I agree he's a morally gray individual when it comes to that but really he would have been a far more decent human being while he was at it

Humans are inherently benevolent imo

Most of us no longer have noticeable canine teeth anymore because we’ve evolved past basic animalistic techniques of hunting, so we’d be more in line with the 28 Days Later zombies with hurting people and expelling internal liquids in order to spread.

the bright side of this scenario is that it's very probable that the infected wouldn't last more than a few days, either due to blood loss from their wounds, dehydration, or the virus itself destroying critical parts of the brain. to expand on dehydration, there's not a lot of freely accessible water in most urban areas, which is where the virus really spreads, and it's likely that in the course of the infection spreading that water supply might get cut off. admittedly, the sight of a massive herd of zombies gathered around a city's one working water feature to drink does amuse me - and would also make a great place to drop a hellfire missile.
Not really a Hellfire, you'd want something like a Thermobaric weapon. A Hellfire would blow them apart and blast infected meat into that water supply.

"Ash to ash, dust to dust, if your bit by a zombie your surely f**ked"
I'm not sure why it came to my head, I've never heard it before. But i laughed like an idiot for about 3 minutes. Good movie, in my opinion. I'm glad to see roanoke got around to breaking it down. Keep up the good work, roanoke. love the videos

Just for some additional support.
Had a good boy with FIV.
He was diagnosed around 2017 after a fight with the neighbors cat, though he likely had it longer as he came from a shelter. He lived a happy life and only needed additional support once when he got a really bad case of cat flu. Passed away earlier this year at 15.
I absolutely LOVE not only the constant MMO references BUT YOU NAILED THE CHRISTMAS STORY! An all time Goat you are Roanoke!
Also I was stationed in S. Korea for a bit while in the Army, and they did warn us that during layouts or getting into anything that has been closed for a while to wear mask and watch for rodents, and if we did find any to stop and make leadership aware.
Heart Line infection is what my doctor called it. Had it running from an ingrown nail on my left thumb all the way up to my armpit. Doc said if I went to bed that night I probably wouldn't have gotten up the next day. I think I was 14
The absolute contempt in your voice when you say Yu Suk's name brings me great joy.
This is probably the best zombie movie ever made. The characters and the subtext the represent are just fantastic. I legit cried when Sang Hwa went out like the absolute gigachad he is and again at the end.
Its a movie about fatherhood and humanity that hollywood could NEVER make today
Hi @Roanoke_Gaming great video and if we are on the topic of Korean Zombies. Could I kindly request you analyze the Zombies in the Korean zombie Netflix's show Kingdom? Its an extremely interesting plague that I think you would love to bioanalyze and not to mention the show itself is just really amazing and great! Please, I've been waiting for your video on this for years.
💯 SIGNED!! That show is a blast. 👍👍👍👍
Oh please let there be a Roanoke vid!! 🤞🤞
I 2nd this!!
YES
I loved that show so much
29:24 the zombie woman on the far right has one scary grin on her.
Not seen this yet (obviously) but I know it’ll be good, I loved watching it before and will look forward to seeing this analysis of the disease!
This movie is really good 👍 highly recommend it
I somehow long conned myself into thinking you’ve already covered Train to Busan.
I’m damn glad I was wrong, this is an awesome thing to drop into my lap! Going in shocked that it’s not rabies, though. It’s so often rabies…
I could swear he did as well.
well, he talks as if there was no sequels so.. reupload?@@Bluesit32
Mandela effect cause yeah I thought so too
mandela effect doesn't exist lmao, its called a false memory @@shosha101390
Wasnt it another asian movie about the smiling madness disease or something
Sang-Hwa was truly the best character in this movie
Absolute unit till the end
@@RoanokeGamingcould you cover Until Dawns wendigos pls and thank you
Hahaha best line in history. "Oopsie doopsie, we made a fucky wucky". You, sir, are a genius akin to the greats. Bill Shakesspeare would be honoured to know you.
Don't you mean william wiggle dart
The director of this movie is a beast at Zombie film. He converted me from having a phobia of zombies to a slight obsession.
I literally typed in the search bar “train to Busan virus explained” yesterday because I had thought you already made a vid on this.
More-so the zeitgheist over there makes sure almost every movie and TV show includes themes of real-world problems in their society.
@@mrjtfang2 True
Have you seen the Kdrama Happiness? It’s also about zombies, and has some really good characters!
@@ellkat3 Oh will do, I haven't seen it yet but I've seen a bunch of other Korean zombie stuff so for sure will give it a try.
eh
I haven’t watched this movie, but Sang-Wha is by far my favorite character and were he not fictional, I would very much like to be his friend.
19:45 I love the A Christmas Story reference here, keep it up Roanoke!
man the new upload schedule goes crazy, im loving it but I just hope no one gets burned out by it!
We ball 😂
Always an amazing day when a Roanoke video drops! Keep up the amazing work!!
7:49 Lymphangitis for sure
Still one of the best Zombie movies out there.
24:27 Roanoke sitting there, with his wife over his shoulder, quickly backtracking like "no, honey, I'd let you infect me!" 😂
I love the Koreans for bringing back the zombie genre after it had slowed down hard in the last decade, Train to Busan, All of Us Are Dead, #Alive, these are just so damn good
The last one I hadn't noticed.
Is it that good?
@@koppsrAsking the real question.
@@koppsr I like it alot, especially for the main character that feels very human and makes you go "I'd probably do/react like that too in that situation", worth a watch for sure
Man I miss Rick Grimes
they added melodrama subgenre hinted by the focus on human aspect of the movies, which they nailed and koreans are known for like koreanovelas. saturation of a genre just needs a subgenre to refresh.
I love the movie summary. Please never remove it
Peninsula (the sequel to train to Busan) doesn't really offer much in terms of the infected and how they work other then.... i guess the effects of being infected for sometime and how humans would live in a infested world and i love to hear your thoughts on it
Hey Roanoke, for the inflamed blood vessels were you talking about blood poisoning?
I believe it's a blood clot.
Yes, sepsis! Came here to agree!
It hit me like flashbang when I heard Roanoke say 'They made a fucky wucky'....I was cleaning at work and burst out laughing as my coworkers looked at me like I was crazy.
The dad dying in the movie has to be the saddest scene in any zombie film ever
I have been watching your videos for a long time now my man. It has been awesome to see your channel grow, but the heart of your content has always remained constant. You have gotten me through a lot of boring ass work days. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Would never have thought that I would see the original SCP-173 file in this video but I guess we're all in for a shock with a zombie nightmare from wherever this film is supposed to take place LOL
22:29
Honestly the beginning where roanoke is kinda rambling about viruses and all that is comforting for me in the sense that my mind constantly wanders to all sorts of world ending scenarios. So knowing that I'm not the only one who does it is cool
Hey Roanoke, I think you were referring to Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) around 7:30
2:49 I just realized the driver of the car is the same guy who played the dad on 'All of us are dead,' and 'Squid Game.' 😍🙌
I met the man who invented the part of a map that explains what each symbol means.
What a legend.
took me a second to realise, you sly dog

Nice reference to Shakespeare's Macbeth.
I love these videos, I've just been going down one at a time and I'm glad this great movie was analyzed.
My almonds are restless unless they're feeding on Roanokes videos 🧠
You’re humor is some my favorite stuff on UA-cam like some of you’re jokes and references just make me absolutely lose my shit
12:48 the photo of Tbilisi made me scream 😂😂
Roanoke. I just realized you never touched the Alien trilogy (we ignore everything past 3). Need your story break down and anatomy and morphology analysis
I so agree!
I love that you mentioned the Paladin-role, my first thought when watching this movie, my fav character.
I’m not sure what it is exactly but the editing in this video is phenomenal. Amazing work as per usual roanoke
