No offense and great content but I wouldn’t have bought any of those to be honest , even at a dollar. It’s hard these days to sell off crud that nobody wants, even if it has cracked ice
I was considering this platform for my cards… this is like the fifth video like this I’ve seen in the last half hour while doing research, thanks for changing my mind lol.
I recently came up on a huge collection of late 80’s thru early 2000’s cards almost all are near mint or mint and list at anywhere from 3-100$ raw and I had thought about doing what not but after seeing this video I think I will pass good info thanks
As a collector since I was a kid I learned that it’s about the fun of pulling your favorite team and players! Everything else is sellable but not everything is going to sell!
It's a total crapshoot and I think there are a few things going on...To your point, shipping is a killer for both buyers and sellers on cheap cards. In addition, you have to sell something for $8 before your effective fee rate drops below 15% for that sale. Reading the room is crucial to knowing what to put up and when to pivot, but not being able to see who is in the room and and not being able to see when specific people leave makes this difficult. The only way you know who you're talking to is if they say something in the chat, which is clunky. The market has softened A LOT as well and it's a very different environment on there than it was last winter. I'm giving it another shot tomorrow but I have pretty low expectations.
I don't use WhatNot but I am wondering why they don't have a WhatNot Standard Envelope shipping option. That would be a game changer for them for the trading card space.
I get the same from whatnot now. I use it to fill breaks, or to liquidate. There are some solid markets on there that don't fluctuate, but for the most part you have to sell demand, and in my opinion that's like door-to-door sales. lol Something what works for me is identifying the location of my following and doing main lives in that category. So, for me, Metazoo became a great environment for me through a couple live I did, and now I do most my lives through the Metazoo section. Although I'm selling non meta zoo items the people who hang around most the time are hovering those lives so it's good for me to hang there instead.
Last Sunday, I did a whatnot auction for Funko pops and some exclusives and sold nothing. Previous week, I had really good sales. I dislike whatnot shipping, I want to set my own price.
Couldn’t agree more with you. What I’ve had success doing lately is buying cheap slabs locally and on eBay and selling on whatnot. Seems like the majority of the people on the app over value slabs so I’m trying to do the opposite of what they’re doing…buy on eBay and sell on whatnot
Buyer on Whatnot for about 6 months. I have gotten about 15K of cards for around 4K. I can confirm it is very hard as a seller but just starting off people have a lot of success with mystery packs and pull boxs. Just my personal experience with this app. Those are great cards for mystery packs. Yeah crazy those aint selling, i think people always expect to find the BEST steals that they overlook buys like those, weird af.
@@CardsToCash Nice. One of the good things about whatnot is that you CAN sell inventory quick compared to eBay. But you can usually only do that once you have built up a good following.
🤚I'd like those Gibson rookies!! 😂 My experience with whatnot as a buyer has been a mixed bag. as someone who also buys and sells and flips cards. I've tried to go on there and snag a few deals and I have but also a lot of those cards, especially the ones that are graded go for more than what they are worth. So there really isn't any room for flipping them. I've hit a few where I can make some money but the majority of the time the sellers are hyping up the cards or yelling at the chat because the card is too low in terms of where the bid is in the auction. So in one hand, I understand as a seller you're trying to get the most for your item. But it's almost like it's a fine line of manipulating people into paying more than what it's worth. I don't know. Like I said, I have mixed feelings about it. It's fun If you're a collector or have the money to have people rip it packs open for you. Or if you're willing to wait and not bid on anything until a card comes up that you're looking for. But as a reseller, I've tried to research the card and see how much it's worth before bidding, but they're almost isn't enough time to do that live. I'm pretty new to the sports cards so my advice to resellers. If you don't know off the top of your head what cards are going for, It's going to be tough to bid and then turn around and resell. But if you're a collector and you don't care, if you have to pay a little bit more than what the card is worth to win, then the app is fun. I know this is long and drawn out, but it's kind of my first time expressing how I feel about the app to anybody really. I've used it a handful of times. Got some cool stuff and also spent too much money lol. I've since deleted the app because it's honestly not a good source to get inventory from. And it's also not a good source to buy for your collection because what people sell is pretty random and you're better off going to eBay auctions and hopefully getting it lol price. Been following you for a long time. Love the new card channel. Keep it up!

I sold 5 cards on eBay WHILE I was doing my whatnot auction. I’m fine only getting $1 or $2 per card bc I’m buying them for around a nickel per. My goal now is to figure out how to list 500 cards in one day on ebay.
@@CardsToCash spent 2500 and not a single card i got in return is worth over $100. The only worse financial decision i have made was helping a single mother that couldnt eat for several years.
I don’t think they’re fads like pogs or something. I purchased 3000 prizm/mosaic/select parallels and $.06/card and I’m trying to sell them for $.25-$3/per with a few minor hits that sell for $20-$50. It’s working on eBay but whatnot isn’t even close.
I’ve got big followers on my main channel. 115,000 subscribers. There’s just not collectors on whatnot like there are on ebay. IMO The way to go on whatnot is gambling w/mystery boxes or box breaks, but I don’t think I would enjoy that.
Cards aren't relevant enough... most people have those cards that mean nothing in their junk pile, I don't do whatnot but if I was I would just be doing top tier names and teams. Don't waste time trying to sell base cards or color cards that don't really matter to the public
This strategy was successful for my first 4 auctions. I will go back to focusing on eBay. I’ve been using file exchange to upload cards to eBay and was able to list about 400 this weekend in about 2 hours.
I always viewed whatnot as a place for resellers to source. Prices being very depressed overall. It was good for moving low cost junk in volume but now with so many sellers on the platform there just aren't enough buyers getting eyes on every auction. If I was you I would lot those low value cards up and sell them that way on ebay. Individually listing each seems like a low ROI on your time. I see whatnot going the way of other niche platforms like depop and the rest.
No, that is not what happened. You can think that but that’s not what my measurement is. It’s being compared to ebay, it’s based on customer response, and it’s based on if it’s something that gives me energy. Considering that I can make more money grinding doing other kinds of work, why would I grind at something I don’t like doing, trying to sell products people don’t want, when there’s an alternative that I can either do myself (or outsource) and make just as money/enjoy more?
Yeah dude none of these are worth $5 which is what they have to pay to get a card and shipping.. they’d have to buy multiples.. that is junk.. inserts… do better bud
I ended up doing 10 for $3. If you purchased 3 lots like that then shipping wouldn’t be a lot. There aren’t collectors perusing my whatnot like my eBay store. I think the only thing that might work on WhatNot is using them as mystery pack fodder.
@@CardsToCash this app should not be a sustainable source of anyones income to be honest. It’s just a nice side hustle and a fun way to liquidate inventory.
How am I approaching it wrong if they’re selling on eBay? It sounds like my approach is right and whatnot is only good for very short-sighted sellers looking to roll the dice and maybe maybe a quick buck.
@@CardsToCash whatnot is only good if you have a following that you can bring to the platform. Of course you're not going to have success selling those cards to 3 people in random room.

I sold 5 cards on eBay WHILE I was doing my whatnot auction. I’m fine only getting $1 or $2 per card bc I’m buying them for around a nickel per. My goal now is to figure out how to list 500 cards in one day on ebay.
Lol, bro.. you need to build a following to really sell. It’s a grind everyone goes through. Dosent just magically happen..
I’m going to ask you two questions:
How long do you think I’ve been selling cards?
How large do you think my following on my main channel is?
I dont think people realize how much debt we have all put ourselves in on whatnot lol.
Yikes
@@CardsToCash spent 2500 and not a single card i got in return is worth over $100. The only worse financial decision i have made was helping a single mother that couldnt eat for several years.
What-Not is a joke.
Can I buy your whatnot account
No
.30 , no no I would not
whatnot = fad
cards = fad (cards have always been here, always will, but the last few years =fluke)
Maybe you should sell something else on whatnot like dvd, T-shirt and other. Once you have big followers you can sell sports cards in the future
Whatsnot should pay you for this video , it sounds like a buyers dream !!!!!!!!
BRO I WOULD LOVE TO BUY THE JORDAN BROOKS CARD OFF YOU. PLEASE GET IN CONTACT WITH ME PLEASE!
It definitely seems like you need to bring your buyers

No
eBay announced live streams get used to it
When are they expecting to do that
I would love eBay livestreams, I’ve got about 1000 followers on there already.
It’s already occurring for special sellers
So you're measuring your success in 45 minute increments on your first day in sales.
@@CardsToCash a lot of words for doing it for 45 minutes.
What’s your eBay seller name? I’ll buy some of those cards off you all day! 😂
MakingDeals99
Biggest problem with the hobby. A lot of people have Lamborghini taste with a KIA budget.
That new stuff is all garbage
Is this a joke?
You tell me, Jacob Haughney
I’ll give you 20 for all of them lmk
I’ve already listed them all on eBay
Uh, is this a parody? Or are you being serious?
What’s parodical about it to you?
I think sports cards are lame in general. So many better ways to make money
That’s why this is my hobby channel. It’s okay for your hobby to make you money.
@@CardsToCash oh I thought this was yours main channel lol
No, this is ua-cam.com/users/WalterBlakeKnoblockVideos
Yeah dude none of these are worth $5 which is what they have to pay to get a card and shipping.. they’d have to buy multiples.. that is junk.. inserts… do better bud
I ended up doing 10 for $3. If you purchased 3 lots like that then shipping wouldn’t be a lot. There aren’t collectors perusing my whatnot like my eBay store. I think the only thing that might work on WhatNot is using them as mystery pack fodder.
You’re selling the wrong cards try Pokémon
i dont want to sell pokemon cards tho
You don’t get how to sell on this platform it’s about hype
That’s not sustainable
@@CardsToCash this app should not be a sustainable source of anyones income to be honest. It’s just a nice side hustle and a fun way to liquidate inventory.
There's no value there in your cards my man. Im sorry to say but you are approaching it wrong.
That’s the point of my video.
ngl no one cares about a lot the cards your showing that’s on you for buying random ass cracked thinking they would filp
Blake, I watch your UA-cam videos, ( WBK and Cards to Cash) follow you on Instagram and am subscribed to you on Whatnot! Maybe more notification would help bring in your followers!! Personally the shipping charges for cards on Whatnot is ridiculous, I do prefer going to you EBay and buy! I hope you figure it out because your very knowledgeable about the players and fun to listen to!!👍👍❤️
What’s your name on whatnot
Wbk
@@CardsToCash maybe you need change your usersname people can actually remember your name on whatnot
