Great video! My wife and I run Alaska mountain lodge near Anchorage and wish all of our guests could watch this video prior to their stay to be more prepared.
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!
Excellent video, very useful and the visuals were great. Thank you!
I must say this was a very good video. Great tips, to the point and great supporting videos.
Great video! I can’t wait to visit! I agree with you! Flights can be as little as $250 for me (chicago) so that’s not expensive! Love all the shots you included in the video
Great tips! Thanks my friend! Can’t wait to go and explore the wild Alaska! Hope this year is THE year I go to Alaska..) Great stuff! 😊👍
Thank you for putting this info..appreciate it
Thanks for the tips! I'm headed there this summer! This gets me even more excited to go!!!

Thank you, I have been looking for some useful information on getting to Alaska, and you are the first to offer something helpful. Color me subscribed.
Thank you, in my next bucket list

Aloha! Thank you so much for the useful tips. We are in Alaska for 2 weeks coming up in mid August and been wondering about many of the info you provided! Thanks a bunch.
Thanks for sharing this great video.
Thank you for the video. You made me laugh when you said Alaska doesn’t know what switchbacks are - you go straight up until you can’t anymore! Got to love a challenge…I think! LOL
Thank you! This was really helpful! I was surprised to hear that seafood is expensive!
Thank you for watching! Thinking back now, it might have been because it was the beginning of the pandemic.
Very useful
LOTS OF LOVE FROM LEH LADAKH ❤️❤️😘
wow ❤❤❤
About the aurora borealis - traveling further north definitely isn't going to help if it's summer. I live near the arctic circle and there's no true darkness for about three months, it just gets dim around 4 AM and the sun comes back up a couple hours later. Definitely not gonna see the aurora then. So if that's high on people's list, it's *kind of* important to understand what's happening with the daylight, and it varies tremendously across the state.
I'm going to Alaska next week. Thanks for helping us plan a trip. I'm bummed out about the seafood thing.
thank you so much for posting the video! we're traveling to alaska in a couple of days, and is there any chance you can answer my question: where/how would we get a paper map instead of the phone gps as you mentioned in the video?
Thanks for the great video! Where is the place with the all the bird watching and boat tour from 0:29 to 0:31, remind me of the scene in nomadland, real amazing!
Thank you! It’s from a day boat cruise in Whittier. I can’t even believe it was real. Here is a video about that day cruise here ua-cam.com/video/F8IoP5m-nIA/v-deo.html

I'll be in seward this weekend for a kite festival.
Where can I go to see the events that are happening at the time of my visit ?
Please check covid19.alaska.gov/ for the updated requirements to visit Alaska.
Most Alaskans love to show off our state so the best thing you can do is befriend an Alaskan and if they have the time they will be happy to show you around and things you can do that don’t cost much at all
Great video!
We went to Alaska last summer and we'll be going back in August,we loved it!
Where is the place with the waterfall from min 9:03-9:10?
And also do you have a link to the helicopter ride website?
Thank you?
That’s Reed Lakes Trail. It’s the hike that I loved the most! The helicopter 🚁 ride was 20 minutes over Matanuska Glacier here is the link ua-cam.com/video/rwYu4TiCI30/v-deo.html
You’ll see some footage of us walking on the glacier, that’s not part of the ride, we went ice climbing in the glacier separately.
Great video! Is there a quarantine requirement in the city of Anchorage? I'm encouraged by the no testing required, but haven't found a solid answer on the quarantine thing. Keep up the great videos!
Thank you! I appreciate the comment. No quarantine requirement either. Travelers are advised to social distance, wear a mask, wash hands....
@@TrekkingPals is it the same for Fairbanks, Ak. Or do we still need to quarantine? Tysm!
Nice tips and good information on this video!I would like to know if there is an airport in Fairbanks or do you recommend Anchorage Airport. Thanks
Yes there is an airport in Fairbanks “Fairbanks International Airport” Thank you for watching
@@TrekkingPals thanks for your fast answer.I would love to see the northern lights!
Check out this list of 20 things that you must have with you if you’re traveling to Alaska this summer

Fishing cost described is actually cheap. In Florida, a 4 hour fishing charter for deep sea fishing costs 500 to 600 dollars
Thank you for your coverage on Alaska . I'd like to visit and see the historic sites, visit small towns and places and most importantly check out their different foods and different places to eat. And check out the places to get some sleep. 👍🏞
...wont be a visit...im dying there!!!😀
Thanks for the great tips, we’re excited about our upcoming trip. 2 questions:
1. Since we can’t travel with bear spray, where can we buy one when we arrive?
2. What brand is your blue backpack?
Thank you!
Thank you! It is funny I remember the conversation with the person we bought the bear spray from but I can't seem to remember where exactly. It was in anchorage for sure and it was probably walmart or a sports goods store. Usually outfitters and stores with self defense tools/fire arms aisle will have it. My backpack is an Osprey tempest for women, here is the link to it www.amazon.com/dp/B08LP15752/ref=sspa_dk_hqp_detail_aax_0?psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExQUFMTzIxNFpaV1ZOJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDAyNzMwM0YwWkxXS0VWQ1pHOCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMTUzOTUzNjA4MEMzN0gzSFA1JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfaHFwX3NoYXJlZCZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
Enjoy Alaska!
@@TrekkingPals you’re awesome, thanks for the reply! I’m watching all your videos, and I feel well prepared, thanks to you!!
Can you make a video on clothes to bring for a summer in Alaska!
We shared a video answering your question, let me know if this helps ua-cam.com/video/qXvtFm5CgXo/v-deo.html
Alaska, my home 💜💙💚💛🧡
Ive never been to Alaska before is it cold all year around or do you get some warm days in summer
@@joecool8367 Some warm sunny days in the summer but the weather is changing all the time. So even in summer, visitors have to pack layers, fleece jackets, rain jackets....
Salam Habiba. Love your video contents :)
Currently in Anchorage. What’s the name of the place to find the fish chips on you videos please?
What is the best place to rent a house in Alaska ? Just to live and enjoy the views.
Do you have a list of the excursions you did in Alaska?
All of them are in this playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLA2429zpG8375ZtiUsu9G3dKVtDqttGS7.html
When going anywhere away from the city, it would be advisable to carry Bear Spray with you.
whats the cheapest way to geth there in the summer. most of the flights are at least $600
Not sure! The prices can get high during summer unless you book far in advance.
The charter and fishing tours are expensive for a good reason. They actually want to discourage people from this practice.
@High Country Guide Service You guys probably don't want large numbers of us lower 48's infiltrating your pristine natural areas either...that would be the beginning of the end!
Did you have to pay to get tested ? It looked like you were tested at the airport ?
At that time, I went back to the airport for a second test. It used to be required to take a second test if you’re staying in Alaska for 14 days or longer(it used to be free)
Some people have lived their whole lives in Alaska without ever venturing out, some have never seen a bear.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Is this true? I want to go to Alaska
If there’s no Covid testing
Please refer to covid19.alaska.gov/ as travel rules are changing constantly.
Where you guys stayed for one month?
a few days in Seward and the majority of time in Anchorage. This is the B&B where we stayed ua-cam.com/video/hlghD4Q9vXM/v-deo.html
Lol, I’m from Alaska and $180 per persons is outrageous. I would never pay that price to have fun here.
The landscapes are stunning but according to my research, it's one of the worst states to live. It's even worse than my state of New Mexico - from the economy to the crime rate.
I agree with that. I felt unsafe one day in Anchorage so I had to look up crime rate in Anchorage it’s the highest per capita in the country.
@@TrekkingPals I don't understand that because I thought Alaska is more spread out and has less population.
From Anchorage you can either go north towards Talkeetna or south towards Whittier/Seward/Kenai Fjords. Many areas like this are several hours apart, combined with a daily adventure you may want to plan to explore Alaska in regions. Try to plan your timeframe and trips with this in mind.
Pick in advance 2-3 hikes that you absolutely want to experience. In my opinion, the Harding Icefield Trail and Reeds lake are a must. Account for the driving distance between trails and check the weather before hand. It rains a lot in August.
@@erikdale9145 Depending on the time of the year, the days may be very long or very short. Figure this out before hand and keep it in mind while planning. You may have more flexibility in Alaska than you are used at home because of this. Also, there is one major highway south of Anchorage (Highway 1), if there is an accident or a traffic jam, your only options are to wait or turn around. Give yourself some extra time around your plans. If you get there early, consider that a victory rather than unnecessary rushing. Flat Top mountain is good near Anchorage. Reeds Lake is very fun and rewarding north of Anchorage, and if you head down to Seward, then the Harding Icefield Trail is great, but Kenai Fjords National Park has plenty more to offer than the HIT. Hiking on Matanuska Glacier is a very exciting experience(North of Anchorage) and Crow Pass is a good trail between Anchorage and Whittier (south of Anchorage). Ultimately, it's Alaska, I'm sure you'll have fun no matter what.
