You're a frikken hero my man! You went round the bead lock bolts in a star type pattern!!!!!!!!!! 😁😁😁 Hehe, since I used to be a tire fitter back in the day, I always do that with any car, including my RC crawler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love modifying Rc's. Good job! I must say all that rotational weight is going to wreak havoc on the drive train..."plastic gears"...personally I stick to un-sprung non rotational weight. Also it's only a 380 motor...another problem with more weight....appreciate the video always fun to watch what others do! 😊
i dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
@Justus Yael thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I am an old cowboy with a neighbor that has 2 big mean dogs. I chased them home yelping with this crawler. I hope it lasts... Can I get a skunk body for it? The entire Santa Fe animal control are now on the lookout.
that's effing hilarious! put a cheap FPV camera set up on it and you can watch from driver's view. I'm sure you could put on a stuffed animal skin.... skunk puppet? amzn.to/3E40XA3
@@robdude1969 I have been too busy with other things, haven't even got the new gears ordered yet that striped, it's been on the back burner for a while. I had to order new servo's too cause one craped out on me.
Great mod ideas for this rig! You should pitch this concept to Mattel* and their Barbie line. It would be an “Extreme” Barbie rock crawler! My daughter would of loved this when she was a kid! And I would of loved it too!👍🏻👊🏼💯🌟. I’m lovin my ridge rock bro! And I have even done one mod yet! Great video my dude!
Did the wheel weights yesterday, but didn't do the bb's. Not sure how I feel about the weights yet. on smaller natural terrain like sharp rocks, the added weight combined with the softer tires from removing the foams, the crawler does great. Nice tire deformation and awesome traction. However on my wooden crawler course, it almost seems like it struggles with traction now with the added weight. Especially descending down very steep sections, the added weight reduced the hill hold ability and now freewheels down. Pros and cons I guess...
Doesn't putting weights in the tires wear.them out allot quicker? I was given wheels and tires off a Redcat Gen 7 almost new. I don't like the fiddly beadlocks, gluing is just fine If I could get tires and wheels assembled even better. $80 for 4 tires ridiculous for us old people.
What else? Oh, I lowerded the body. I got rid got the side bars, trimmed a bit off the body and mounted it directly on top of the chassis above the shocks. It was a real hack though and looks kind of scrappy.
The light bars that are linked to Amazon that are not 3D printed, are they as good as the ones you printed and put in your own LEDs ? Just wandering because I have access to 3D printer. Hopefully you see this and get back to me . I subscribed. Thanks again for the helpful video .
Yep, car wheel balance weights on the axle, and lead inside the wheel. Though I used plumbers solder wire. and double sided tape, then wrapped it in electrical tape.
The idea is that the weight is right at the contact surface bringing the center of gravity as close to the the ground as possible. It’s certainly interesting. Nice and slow. Makes fun sounds but sticks great.
Hi, awesome mods! I bought the ridgerock for my daughter and wondering if you still have the printer file for the body/velcro mod. I would love to do this for her. Thanks!
@@robdude1969 thankyou for following up considering that im not the only 1 asking questions. So here’s mine.the steering and suspension upgrades are.first. The servo upgrades i can order but the linkage , transmission line I believe, i dont have the tools. And my hands are not up to it. Would you consider fabricating the required parts and selling them tome? What would be amt for the parts?
I don't use that charger or battery. I am sure they will work, but I would suggest a battery charger that can show you voltage from each cell and balance while it charges. This may seem like overkill, but I use one of these but with 4 batteries charging at once. This does 2 at once. you can plug into wall or off your car battery while outside somewhere. amzn.to/37ERiBj
I made a jumper plug that goes inline between my battery and ESC. The 6v LEDs don't mind the 2s lipo at all... I just soldered two deans together with the wires coming out of the middle. On a 3s system for other cars, I would just add a little BEC in before the LEDS.
you loss traction with bb, your tires cant flex with the rock so you loss traction. more your tires give more traction you have that why it better to have soft tire.
I got mine yesterday. I tested a couple of aluminum rear links i had leftovers from my Axial scx10 and they fit (1/8" shorter then the stock plastic danchee links) so i ordered another set from Amazon to have 4 of them : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0752932GM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This kit comes with 2 front links and 2 rear links, but only 2 of them are longer, I think the front will be 1/2 too short. i think the scx0010 is the rear longer rear link i fitted in my Danchee front, i just ordered another kit of 4 just in case to use those 2 longer pieces in the back to have a total of 4 aluminum links. Now to chase how to accomodate aluminum tie rods. I'll also be doing the mods in this video as well. Thanks a lot.
I used the metal links from the Everest 10 - perfect fit. Redcat Racing #18084. Order two for the full set of four links. I reused the Danchee ball joints.
How have the gears and pinion held up with all the extra weight? On mine i lowered it by removing the lower shock caps & chopped the body, then tucked the belly up with bully comp tyres(with stock foams) and got a bigger battery (2s 5200mAh 50c) for more weight.. but been using it a bunch now and find it a bit more capable with the sm stock battery.

Haha, the kid loves it because it's pink!!!!!!! I painted mine black, and then splodged yellow and red sort of camo, just to look different.

funny - the plastic gearing in here is stronger than the metal - at least for the pinion gear! we drive it slow anyway... thanks for watching!

I messed with the suspension links too, using ally tube and pivot ball connectors from something else.
I am definitely doing the velcro! Thanks for that idea
It desperately needs a better servo, steering in front is awful on this thing. Any suggestions?

Where is the link for the motor upgrade?????
His daughter: dad can we take the beads out the tires yet their so loud!
Him: NO ITS ONE OF MY MODS
It’s a fun sound!
How and what did you use to paint the ridgerock body?
Does the esc come standard with a low voltage cutoff so it does not kill your lipos? Or do you have to make sure not to run them way down?
What else? Oh, I lowerded the body. I got rid got the side bars, trimmed a bit off the body and mounted it directly on top of the chassis above the shocks. It was a real hack though and looks kind of scrappy.
Just spray the tires wuth WD40. 👍 quick tip there. Instead of oil.
Pauly shore does crawler vid 😎😂
True story. I sat next to him on an airplane once.
I have had a ridge-rock for about a year now but my chassis keeps breaking any tips

Yes 👍

Does anyone know what motors can replace the stock ones?
Are there any different bodies for it?
I used old bike chain inside the tires
that, sir is very innovative!
Zip ties and you didn't mention Chad W?
I have the Danchee. The tires' material seems different to other trucks, namely the TRX4. Is it rubber or a soft rubber-like plastic?
Seems similar to other rc cars I have... Same feel on my traxxas rigs, my axial seemed to have softer, but maybe just a thinner sidewall?
Did you put the weights on all 4 rims, or just the front? Thanks in advance
I did all four. it slows it down but seems to be very firmly planted when it makes contact.
can this take an external receiver, like crossfire?
When climbing or descending the BB's will not be at the botom when the grip is.
Maybe not if you are going fast. But crawling puts weight on the contact patch.
Fantastic video ! Thanks for your help please can you add your body post STL files to thingiverse and any other prints you've made since ,thankyou
Body posts are stock. Thanks for watching, have fun!
What battery connector do you need to go with the upgrade is it mini Tamiya to Dean's?
I would solder a deans connector on the car speed controller instead. Not really a fan of those Tamiya style plugs.
Why didn’t you put foams inside your tires? Instead of bbs?

Are there specific connector sizes for 7.4v-LI-ION ? Could you use XT60 connector?

Thanks for the Ridgerock vids. Since adding the BBs to each tires has the crawling ability improved?
it adds weight right at the point of contact. I believe it works better. It's slower and noisy, but I like the mods so far!
What motor upgrades can i do
Has anyone 3d printed or made a beer can holder for the remote? New to rc and not being able to drink & drive is my only issue so far.
Best question ever! Let me know when you find one.
Great tips! I think I need one of these in my life!
No Foams? Better with foams.
Yeah, what in the?!!! And those bbs rolling around everywhere 🤦🏻♂️
Are you running stock esc, if so does it have low voltage cut off for that 2s lipo your running?
I honestly don’t remember it cutting out on me. I run a 2s 5000 mah pack so it usually outlasts us.
