Orvar, the All-Form | Copies, Control, "Borrowing" | $100 Budget EDH/Commander Deck Tech

- The Uncommon Commander is happy to present this Orvar, the All-Form deck tech. It’s focused around getting value out of it’s commander, making token copies of our things and sometimes our opponent’s things - and that’s without using any thievery cards! Or at least, not any permanent thievery effects. This deck also uses the Peregrine Drake infinite combo with Ghostly Flicker and recursion creatures to get infinite mana and infinite tokens. It also has a large emphasis on control. So, it’s a value deck, a token deck, a copy deck, a “borrowing” deck, a combo deck and a control deck, all at the same time? Yep, that sounds like a mono-blue deck to me!
NOTE: In hindsight, I sort of wish I had put a spell that targets a land in the place of Sky Diamond. It was a last minute throw-in when I realized I was only at 99 cards. Mind Games is the one I would choose, thanks to it's versatility and re-usability.
RULES UPDATE: I was wrong in my description of Duplicant. Duplicant itself will get copied, and you'll create a copy of it. This makes it an even better removal spell, but it does not do what I described in the video. You have been warned!

I still like the card here, as it's still reusable removal, but it doesn't become a copy of the thing it exiled, it's just a duplicant with the power, toughness and creature types as the card exiled with it. I mean, I'd still keep it in mine, though Meteor Golem is nearly as good (or better at many tables).
You may be Uncommon commander, but I sure do hope your videos will be common in my notifications

Honestly, when you got to the trade effects, that's what sold me on wanting to build around this commander. Never have seen that mentioned.
Glad you liked it! The "exchange" cards have been some of my favorites since I started EDH, seeing as I broke into it with Zedruu. A couple that also work with Orvar that I didn't mention are Modify Memory (as long as you target one of your own creatures), Shrewd Negotiation, and Switcheroo.
I wish there were just a handful more that worked with Orvar, I'd build the entire deck around that mechanic and die happy.

Oh man, your decks are so fun, and i sure would love to see a commander game with your charisma in action. Maybe if you can't do it yourself, you can try to appear playing in other channels like commander quarters or something else, you would bring great fun to the table
That's very nice of you to say, Nacho! I don't actually know Mitch personally, so I'm not sure how likely an appearance on his show would be, but I have tried getting game play using Tabletop Simulator. For some reason it only records my own audio. I've been trying to fix that, but I'm not sure how to. If I ever figure it out I'll be sure to post some game play up!

I think The Mirari Conjecture, along with an extra turn spell that doesn't exile itself, would be a great combo in this deck. Also how did I end up being so late to this video!
