Kerry Weaver is my favorite character. She went through the biggest personal story arc. I remember when I was watching this with my mom in the 90s and we both hated her. I watched this show again as an adult and I think she is the most relatable character in this show.
Although the writers were inconsistent in how they developed her character, Laura Innes played the part to perfection. She left a hole that was impossible to fill.
It’s true. She’d make you love and hate her. I’m not sure the writing was always consistent for the character but from what I saw, her portrayal was beyond reproach.
I've visited Chicago in January and its like very few cold places ever. The wind is just ridiculous there, much more so than any other midwest city that gets cold winters.
@@ChrisPaddlefoot right but she was the only one still there from the original cast. Abby and Luka came in on Season 6. However, if we count the nurses, Malik, Chuny and Halana were there from the beginning.
The original cast was Green, Ross, Carter, Brenton, Lewis and Hathaway. Plus Jerry and some nurses who didn't appear on the opening credits only as guests.
I had a love-hate relationship with Dr. Weaver. There were times I positively despised her, and times I really liked her. The mark of a great actress or actor. Laura Innes was perfect in the role.
I wish she didn't resign. I wish she stayed till the end. She did have empathy and good heart. Its just that she was a boss and people usually don't like their boss.
Dr weaver was a supremely human character. So full of flaws and then shows bright moments of strength. She is more like me and most people I know than most of the other "er" people.
Kerry was backstabbing and a hypocrite. But I appreciate the moments when she was helping others. She was showing her compassion and kindness. Sadly being in charge like she was for the majority of the series is also connected with making unpopular decisions and telling others what to do or not to do. It's normal that people hate people who make unpopular choices.
Kerry was a narcissistic bitch, she only helped others for her own purpose, not for them! The way she treated Elderman's assistant who died because of her said it all, about her character!
Although I had either loved her or hated her when she was on screen, she was a hell of a character and one of the last OGs. Every time one of them left, the show was never the same and this was no different.
Kerry was a character that we came to hate but at the same time not totally, since she always showed her human, compassionate side and how she herself suffered with the decisions that her hierarchy forced her to take due to the protocols. She made mistakes, (even the same ones that she punished ..like a karma) she had the goal (and ability) to surpass herself and reach almost perfection because she loved her profession but also because of her emotional emptiness, she just I had her job. Discovering and accepting her sexuality, falling in love and being able to have a child enriched her, she experienced the tragedies of losing Sandy and Mark, of meeting her biological mother only to find out that she did not accept her sexuality, of having a hip operation out of fear that he had to not recover, all that and even so he never doubted and was always there for his vocation and for the hospital to which he gave everything. She had a complete character development and she is going through the front door, saving two lives, sharing that knowledge that only she possessed, saying goodbye to a better life with the respect, affection and appreciation of all... what can I say, the last Original. .. I cried with his goodbye. Now only Kovac and Abby remain, the only ones who shared with the teachers who are no longer here. 😞🥺💔
Playing a character people like/love...isn't easy necessarily but it's different than playing a character people loathe. That's a mastercraft. Gleason/Joffrey, Innes/Kerry etc.
Being the boss is a heavy burden. Often not worth the added stress and a couple of bucks more. Dr. Carrie Weaver was that stability that we all need in our lives but sometimes don’t like. Great character played so well by the actor.
I use to hate her but after being in the management game myself for a few years, I completely understand why she was the way she was. She could have been a little more humanistic, but this was 90s-00s.
Kerry was complicated. But aren’t all of us complicated? Sometimes you were furious at her and things she said and did. Then her heart was the most obvious part of her. She made County better. She made doctors better. And she could cut through the red tape, getting what her ER needed. But that time “the board” had no description of the patient’s problem, just codes wasn’t a good idea. Thank goodness for Mark Greene that day. Laura Innes was brilliant. She has continued to be brilliant in her acting and directing.
ninja scotsman Luka started out as a moonlighter when Romano was still Acting Chief of Emergency Medicine. By the time Luka was hired several episodes later, Weaver had succeeded Romano after he became Chief of Staff. I remember the scene quite well, Weaver was surprised he didn’t ask about the salary. Luka replied: “It’ll be good.”
Didn’t her character have a cane? Also I like how they have Nurse Haleh there. She may not have been main credit cast member but she is one of the OG’s
If you walk with a limp for a long enough time (acting job, etc.), you'll develop an actual limp. After years of playing Kerry, Laura Innes had her character story changed. That's because she was starting to develop an actual limp that was causing pain.
Me thinks someone needs to watch the entire series. Many great actors passed through the doors of ER, as recurring and guests too. Some you didn't know then but do now. Enjoy.
The final season with angela Bassett was great, but this was the end of the line for me. (Season 13 was otherwise so terrible, and Kerry was the last link to the classic series)
Yeah right... She resigned. I mean I know she's a fictional character but it would be so like Kerry to want to have the last word. I'm glad she got fired first, she was a great doctor but a horrible colleague.
I think it was the great ending for the character of Kerry Weaver because she wasn't leaving on a bad note and she was heading towards a new beginning/chapter in her life.
I love the scene the only thing that would’ve made it better was if Doug Ross watched it and then said yes and celebrated have to admit I was a huge George Clooney fan in ER Weaver was always the enemy she was the villain in ER to me
She scapegoated the death of the patient on Malucci and Chen to cover her ass for her own blunder in leaving her pager at Doc Magoo's, when it was her ultimate responsibility as their supervisor. #JusticeForMalucci

A great ending to a great character, Laura Innes played Kerry Weaver to perfection.
She would return in the finale
@@peterfernandez9670 She was also in the Greene/Banfield flashback episode.
Annoying face and annoying voice.

Nothing like stepping out into a Chicago winter to make you pack for Miami.
I've visited Chicago in January and its like very few cold places ever. The wind is just ridiculous there, much more so than any other midwest city that gets cold winters.
Or Hawaii, or California, or any beach in the world!
Kerry is one of the originals of this beautiful show. She is beautiful. Gorgeous. Stunning. 🥰🥰
No she wasn't... almost, but not quite. Joined in Season 2 if I remember correctly
She was the last one to leave the show that had been there almost from the beginning.
@@ChrisPaddlefoot right but she was the only one still there from the original cast. Abby and Luka came in on Season 6. However, if we count the nurses, Malik, Chuny and Halana were there from the beginning.

Kerry was awesome. She had a soft side.
Tbh everyone hated her character but I loved her.
When she left I cried. Cried.

In the first 7 Seasons, she made you despise her but Season 8 on up, she became a better person.
I wish she didn't resign. I wish she stayed till the end. She did have empathy and good heart. Its just that she was a boss and people usually don't like their boss.
It should have been way earlier.
Yes she was ambitious but loved seeing the softer & vulnerable sides of the character.
Although not mentioned, I hope Kerry, Henry & Courtney lived happily ever after 🙂

Heather, great video. One step at a time to greatness.

She was but I believe when she found love and her lover had the baby, she became consistent. Not as bitchy and actually showed a more human side.
Kerry was a narcissistic bitch, she only helped others for her own purpose, not for them! The way she treated Elderman's assistant who died because of her said it all, about her character!
She definitely had major flaws. That was why she feels so human to me. She made mistakes, but she grew so much!

Kerri was my favorite character of all, followed very closely by Carter. I just loved her!
You go, Dr. Weaver 💪
One thing I liked about ER is the people came and went, succeeded and failed - just like real life.
❤❤❤
Kerry hired Luka, then Luka fired Kerry.
ninja scotsman Did he? Kerry was the ER Chief back then.
ninja scotsman Luka started out as a moonlighter when Romano was still Acting Chief of Emergency Medicine. Nobody on the show gives a two weeks notice

She had surgery in season 12 to fix her hip dysplasia and no longer needed the cane after that.

And Darlene from Rosanne played an intern.
How is she walking without the stick?
She had her hip replaced after a nasty fall outside the ER
Kerry was complex. Autism. The comments speak to it. Awesome show.
for God's sake. not everyone has autism
And if she’s not there, turn on WKRP ! Lol! Peace!
When did she stop using her cane/crutch?
End of Season 12
She had surgery to repair her leg.
Well she definitely was better than romano
It’s time for Kerry to go...
Really? I'd pick Weaver over Romano any day.
I thought she got fired.
What season is this???
13

Kerry is the perfect example of people put in to power who should never be put in to power.
When did she not need a crutch anyomore?
Around 2005-06. It was actually starting to give Innes the actual condition Kerri was having
Malucci should have been standing outside laughing and pointing at her when she came out. #JusticeForMalucci

She has big moments. It's not a bad thing not understanding her character. 95% of fans don't understand her.
Thank God she's gone.
She was miserable. Good riddance.
Glad she's gone I never forgave her for firing Dr Malucci.
