I wonder why Sandy's pregnancy had to take place off-screen. Were the writers going for shock value in Season 10's "NICU?" Even so, they could have told the story in flashbacks. Was Lisa Vidal not available? Laura Innes herself didn't even know the characters of Sandy and Kerry were having a baby until she read the script, and it turned out to be an episode she was directing. Anyway, just seemed like a missed opportunity.
MsQuartermaine I always thought that maybe they did it because in a previous episode Kerry’s character had a miscarriage and maybe they were keeping tight lipped because of it. But the real reason is probably shock value like you said.
Because they were the lesbian couple of a 90s drama yes they had their baby in mid 2000s but they were the token. You know Sandy's character was in the show for like 30min for the whole 4 seasons she was on the show? And then they killed her🙄

One can become pregnant with donor sperm through artificial insemination, and they can raise it together. Kerry had already done that and miscarried. That’s why she was asking if Sandy could do it. And that’s why I don’t understand why they didn’t consider adoption. Each one of them was obviously accepting of raising a child to whom she wasn’t biologically related, and Sandy made it known she really wasn’t wanting to be pregnant and give birth, so adopting would have been a better solution.

Same sex couples adopting wasn't as easy of a thing to do in the early 2000s.
