We recorded and mixed this record in exactly 21 days.
I think that we recorded Rob's vocals in two days and most are single takes.
They aren't perfect, but they worked well with the music.
Edgar's GTR solos we recorded in one day.
We spent an entire day triggering an Alesis D4 to replace the original kick drums.
The rest of the drums are real and recorded without any edits or punch ins.
I think that we mixed the whole record in four days.

This album was for years one of mine favourite and I would like to know who shared this interesting facts.
Jurica Grčević I recorded much of the material that the band did during this time period (1987 thru 1992.)
I co-produced this particular record. I say "co-produced" because the band was heavily involved in the production.

Must say I love pretty much all SA. The first 2 albums for me remain my faves despite the briliance also of what came later. Never forget hearing "where angels dare to thread" on DARK PASSAGES then....What a band!!
Holy shit that's one hell of an awesome album, how have I never listened to these guys before, this sounds like the lovechild of Candlemass and Arch era Fates Warning.

I first checked out this band when I heard Candlemass' King of the Grey Islands album. Rob Lowe's voice, to me sounded powerful, vulnerable, beautiful. I had to hear more and found Solitude and I neeeeeed more!
I have been SA fan for more than 15 years and I also bought Candlemass KOTGI album without previously checking it just because I knew Robert took over the Messiah place. I never was Candlemass fan. When I heard that album I just got disapointed in music. The sound wasn't as powerful as SA and the songs were cheaply borring. I traded it with a friend (huge Candlemass fan) for a free promo copy of Enslaved Eld album. :) haha

First three and Alone are the best Solitude works. Classics of traditional doom metal

How in the hell did I overlook this band? I was listening to Cathedral, Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, Obituary, Napalm Death, Sepultura etc in 92. The only thing I can think is at one point I checked out Sopor Aeturnus and hated it and probably mixed up the band names if I saw this one. This is freaking amazing!

The time points are not exact, but it didn't bother me much. Just saying. This is 43 mins long, because it's the original version, the bonus tracks are for another edition. Maybe the time stamps are correct for that one.
I hope they will be together again and create great songs again.

After seeing shitty American so-called metal bands I thought it's gonna be end of real metal music.. But after listening real doom metal bands like this and Candlemass, I always come back to the spirit of metal..I really like Robert Lowe's sound but when it's comes to Doom Metal, I always remember Messiah Marcolin..Shame though I haven't heard his voice for a long time..
Gökhan Günal do you know "Mercy" it's the band Messiah was in before Candlemass. And he also has a project after Candlemass so just use the Internet and look it up. it's easier than ever. to say there is nothing great out there anymore is really dumb. the great stuff just does not get as much sunlight ad back then. For example a relatively new band from America "Visigoth" kicks ass and they play oldschool metal. just don't be lazy and look them up

never heard of these guys till decibel magazine put this album in the Hall of Fame this months issue. Honestly, I really like the music, but no so much the singers voice. The music is bad ass though!

Really good, but too vocal. Vocals were intended to be heard, so music has to be suppressed/sacrificed. 80's Metals vocals aren't good either.
