Trumpet #9: How To Read Sheet Music

Learning to read music is a huge step in gaining independence on your instrument. If you can't read, you have to have someone spoon feed every idea to you very slowly. Imagine how much less you'd know if everything you've read in English in your life had to be read to you instead of you reading it yourself. It can be frustrating at first, but please take the time to practice learning to read so you can find new ways to continue developing as a musician.

Thank you! I just started trying trumpet today and and can barely read the notes. The only thing that’s been saving me is it’s a used book, and someone wrote all the notes above them. But just printed out some music and this video has helped. Thank you! (I play trombone as my main instrument and was not exactly ready for trumpet notes)

Thanks so much! I teach most of the time so I haven't made any new videos in the past two years, but I'd like to do a series like this for all the instruments we teach at our studio. I only have piano, drums, and trumpet posted at the moment. I'm hoping to do guitar, bass, and also some folk, band, and orchestra instruments. Do you have any interest in any of those if I prioritize one?
