    This is a quality flooring product that I'm interested in using for an RV. A few points about the installation from a 30-year commercial floor covering installer... Most of the installation techniques shown are fine or good enough, at least as far as the prep work of the substrate and the smoothing out of wrinkles/air bubbles. When you see the part about spreading the adhesive, take it as an example of what NOT to do. One must keep a consistent angle (approx 45*) with the trowel in relation to the floor so that a proper amount of glue is used to adhere the material. Think of the recommended notch size in the trowel as your metering device for using the right amount of glue. Watch closely and you will see many spots with almost no glue and other spots with a thicker layer. The result will be small air bubbles at the thicker spots and future points of failure at the bare spots. Aim for a consistent pattern of ridges over the entire floor. Also, as mentioned in a previous comment, try not to kneel or walk on freshly glued vinyl until the pressing/smoothing process is complete.

    I like the color. Very nice finish. Does it feel rough on your feet if you are walking barefoot?

    I have a Sun Tracker with aluminum floor. Cam you put it down without taking pontoon boat apart?

      It is best to remove the railing for a more complete installation. If you would like to make flooring mats that fit in general locations without removing railing and seating you can do that.

    Does that glue work on aluminum pontoon decks?

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  5 років тому +1

      Yes - Aluminum surfaces must be sanded before adhering floor-covering to remove aluminum oxide which will weaken the bond. Aluminum and steel surfaces must be cleaned with a mild solvent (naptha or mineral spirits) before applying this adhesive to remove oils or greases. I have found that it's a better idea to stay off the vinyl after you lay it down or your knees/feet will push the glue unevenly and create unevenness. The cutting board works for what you can reach from the floor, and use a vinyl floor roller with a long handle to get the middle. Wish somebody told me this, I learned the hard way.

      We have not had that issue when installing the vinyl flooring. However, your comments are greatly appreciated, because I could see that possibly happening of the glue were not very tacky.

      Gerard143 - Can you please tell me which glue you used to install the Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl? We have not discontinued any of the colors we stock (to my knowledge), so I was wondering if you purchased the flooring from Sailrite and if so what color?

    Is the vinyl flooring material flexible,enough to wrap around the edge of a 3/8” thick piece of plywood?

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, it will. I would glue it to the plywood top and then let it dry and then wrap around the edge of the board and staple to the bottom side.

    Is there any particular reason why you pronounce SAIL RIGHT as “SAY A RIGHT?” English is my first language, so just curious.

    Could you roll this adhesive on an aluminum deck. I was also told it needs to applied to flooring

      AAT-390 Glue can be applied to aluminum flowing these guidelines: Aluminum surfaces must be sanded before adhering floorcovering to remove aluminum oxide which will weaken the bond. Aluminum and steel surfaces must be cleaned with a mild solvent (naptha or mineral spirits) before applying the adhesive to remove oils or greases.

    When cutting holes in the WV for cabling is a razor blade or what other tool correct to use? and is anything needed to keep the weave taught due to the holes

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  6 років тому

      A razor blade can be used to cut holes or you can use a hole punch for cutting fabric assemblies to punch a hole in the LWV (the only issue with hole cutters for fabric is they are often not large enough). Scissors can also be used. If the hole is not too large nothing needs to be used to keep it taught.

    my existing floor is the original vinyl, but very solid but have to cover a few holes where i took out the cabinets. is this a viable option for a pop up?

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  7 років тому +1

      It would work very well in a pop up and can be glued to your current floor which is clean and level.

    • @SailriteDIY

      Yes, it would work great for that. It can be glued to your existing floor just like carpet would be.

    • @SailriteDIY

      Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl has a width of 102" you would need to measure the width of your pontoon to determine if it would work for you.

    How hot does it gets??

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  7 років тому

      Jose Narvaez In the heat of the day with the sun’s heat backing the flooring I can still stand on it in my bare feet. Because it is a vinyl mesh woven flooring it allows some air flow, thus it keeps the heat down.
