Though you have to admit mainstream pop punk bands were just jumpin on band wagon in 90s and early 2000's cause it was a cash cow, Vans Warped did big tours, sponsored by Coke etc, end of the day DIY or at least smaller promoters are more in line with being able to keep your creative integrity intact yeah?. Bands like Blink 182, MXPX , Fall Out Boy and the like and later that monstrosity Simple Plan took advantage of the commercial mainstream as far as they could go with it. Punk is about freedom of expression at its core, no argument. From slam poetry with a guitar to leather n studs style, art and music combined in exhibitions to whatever. But there needs to be a certain authenticity, creating it from the heart is number one, without selling out and watering down whatever you have to the highest bidder cause it might happen to be flavour of the month or decade right?? Considering Japs are quite different in societal attitudes and culture , I honestly do believe these fellas are doing it from the heart. If they were real sell outs or posers, they would be bangin down doors of cashed up music producers to become the next Blink 182 I reckon.
