For those who ask the question, as French, we do have nuclear weapons in our overseas territories. We carried out our nuclear tests in French Polynesia, after Algeria became independent.
Cool fact.
As a Brazilian, this is not a nice thing to read, considering our countries are getting less and less friendly to each other as of the recent years...
Fans of classic era Simpsons already know about French nuclear test sites.
@@lucashfaria98 But France and Brazil are not ennemies, we have no ennemies bro !
☺
(I know you talk about French Guyana).
@@European-Federation yeah, I know we're not enemies (and I totally hope it stays that way!) but sometimes it feels like tensions are escalating between both countries as of the last decade or so... Or maybe it's just media sensationalism
You missed how Russia kindly let Ukraine keep Chernobyl
Yeah, how kind Russia let Ukraine keep a nuclear wasteland.
lol right?
I mean the powerplant is still runing, actually it runs better than ever before the accident. So it's a strategic power resource... that is also built reliant on the Russian nuclear industry.
1:39 Actually, the Treaty of Tlatelolco bans both the UK and France from stationing their nukes on their oversea territories in South America and the Caribean. This treaty bans any kind of development, production, storage and transportation in all of Latin America and the Caribean.
Also, the reason why the British seem to have all their nukes in Scottland is simple. All their nukes are on submarines, the British have no more land-based missiles or tactical nukes to be dropped from planes.
Interesting, didn't know that.
Cool
They aren’t signatories to that treaty so no it doesn’t.
@@kristophersurma6459 Yes it does. Quote from Wikipedia.
'There are two additional protocols to the treaty:
Protocol I binds those overseas countries with territories in the region (the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and the Netherlands) to the terms of the treaty.
Protocol II requires the world's declared nuclear weapons states to refrain from undermining in any way the nuclear-free status of the region; it has been signed and ratified by the US, the UK, France, China, and Russia.'
@@MTTT1234 😂 seriously a laugh reaction would be perfect here. 😂. Again as literally NONE of those countries are SIGNATORIES they cannot have the treaty’s terms forced upon them. As in the treaty can say anything it wants, but that doesn’t mean that non-signing countries have to listen to it. Good try though.
10:50 gotta love how drew just gave up
Hey, Scotsman here, almost all of the UKs nukes are stored here in Scotland, I've slept at Garelochhead Training camp, which is right next to Faslane, the UKs nuclear sub base, its also only a few miles away from the regular nuclear storage base
Guess everyone could tell by your pfp
5:40 I live in the UK and I've though about this a lot. I'd imagine the Southern half of England has a similar population density to the Benelux. The Manchester-Liverpool area as well as East and South Yorkshire have a high population density too.

The funny thing is that the Nuke in Turkey was fairly obsolete at the time; and JFK decided it was a fair deal that when Russia asked to get rid of the nuke; it was a win win really, but an adviser was angry and stated that it would make the US seam weak in the process
0:15 It could be with the idea of Moldova joining Romania
Well then why wouldn’t they receive Southern Bessarabia as well?
@@Uncool516 Great question actually
@@Uncool516 the russians still want access to the Danube
@@Uncool516Because the rest îs now Ukraine. Ukraine isn't guilty of the problems caused by russia
One thing the bolsheviks forgot is Transnistria as a land received by Moldova for these loses, they should have no claim.
But yet, russia also "forgot" how Ukraine gave Belgorod region for Crimea
Still, the only connection Vinnytsia oblast has to Romania is romanian occupation of its southern part in 1941-1944
The map is made like that to entice Romania and Poland, the two most important countries for Ukraine based on geography, with Poland being the most important, to envision a Putin win, where the purpose of the new Romanian and "Ukrainian" parts still being in between Russia and Poland to ensure they can feel safe with a side detail being a bit of Ukraine going to Hungary as a thank you. Pay attention to that the Moldova and Ukrainian parts will be completely subservient to Russia, just like Belarus. The map is a nice piece of information warfare, testing the waters to see what works.
It is not made to convince Europeans who in general know Poland and Romania are on Ukraine's side, it's made to convince Africans, Asians and New Worlders (mostly ppl from Latin America), since they generally don't know anything about Eastern/Central Europe
Poland and Ukraine were at war not too long ago in history, the Polish-Ukrainian wars. That could also be a reason.
This map is an old shitpost they just found in the internet and put into presentation without much thinking.
@@jakubosiejewski9859 Why would Poland be on the Ukrianians side? There is a reason you dont hear much about the "Poland is the biggets supporter of Ukriane" thing. It was fake as hell. Those two countries historically dont like eachother, and during their elections it became very clear. Not to mention the fact that Poland was mostly interested about handeling the money for Ukraine. Their president at the time cared about that mostly.
I agree.
3:51 Amsterdam isn't really a coastal city anymore, because the body of water it sits on has basically been turned into a lake
4:33
I’ve not been there, but I was close to it. Did visit Piran, though.
4:03 Dublin as of recent census' has around 1.3 million people there which is over double what is shown, plus It's almost 2 million modern day and if counting full urban area.
That Rock painting belongs in a museum!
03:44 - 03:49 OMG Drew how come not all city's have thier biggest city's along the coast. Amazing knowledge never could have guessed that.
But every city has their biggest _country_ on the coast.
2:14 the UK stores the vast majority of its nukes at Faslane near Glasgow in Scotland
Greetings from Koper, Slovenia! You should visit :D
that scotland rock map is REAL art
2:03 the reason all of the uk’s nukes are in Scotland is because the UK’s missiles are all in their submarines, which are based in Scotland
7:44
How do you think they got those Volvos to begin with?
Amsterdam is not Coastal, it used to be, but not anymore
Yeah, because you turned the sea into a lake. You madmen :D

When did drew get glasses?

I belive that would be the home port of the Russian northern fleet, nuclear submarines, a useless carrier, etc.
Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, and Czechoslovakia (rip) all had embassy's as they were part of NNSC

I was in Koper last summer :)
7:30 see, Bulgaria was one of the first countries to recognize North Korea, plus the majority of North Korean politicians have studied in Bulgaria. There is also the Bulgarian Vasilka Nikiforova that is probably the most famous Bulgarian in North Korea, as when she went to North Korea she opened many orphanages, so people hold her in high regard over there. Also, the North Korean embassy in Bulgaria is responsible for 10 countries.
Active British Nukes are kept on submarines. The submarine base is in Scotland.
In case of Sarmat 2, with range of 18000km, doesn't matter where to store and launch them, they can reach the other side of the planet, and any point in northern hemisphere. So probably to keep them as far from the enemy as possible to prevent first strike taking them out.
UKs trident submarines are located in scotland and thats the only nukes we have we don't have any land based/air based nukes
7:29 For Hungary, relations severed with North-Korea and along the 2000s the Embassy's remains closed off and now they are handled by the Viennan Embassy. So any Hungary-North Korea talk goes by the Austrian Embassy.

"We just can't have this happen."
You don't say, Drew.
For the weird upper Bug river, with capital Vinitsia as Romanian, even though is meant as buffer zone with Poland the info is historically correct. The region was mostly populated by Moldo-Romanians in the past. What Medvedev misses though on the map as Romanian is the Bugeac region, in the south of Moldovan republic, aka Bessarabia. Romania and Ukraine signed a treaty since 1997, where is specified that Romania have no territorial claims on Ukraine, a precondition to enter NATO.
3:53 Amsterdam is not a coastal city *anymore*, the water is technically a lake... I'd think the netherlands' largest coastal city would be The Hague
Fun fact: Australia’s capital territory is called the ACT standing of *the Australia Capital Territory 🫠*

What was the language spoken right at the end? It sounded like italian and finnish at the same time
That Russian proposed map has a somewhat historical basis. When the USSR took a chunk of Romania, it was split between the newly created Moldova and Ukraine SSRs. Chernivitsi and Odessa's Panhandle came from the Romanian lands. Transcarpathia was historically Hungarian but they lost it to the newly created Czechoslovakia after Trianon and the USSR took it from the Czechoslovaks and annexed it to Ukraine. Poland controlled a large part of western Ukraine at various points in history explaining why they are given the rest of the western part of the country. Belarus gains nothing because they have no historic claims in Ukraine.
Transcarpathia wasn't historically beloging to the Hungary. Before for the Austro-Hungarians to conquer it, it belonged to the dacians ( today's Romania's ancestor ) Or not recognizing that the land that once belonged to Dacia is now rightfully beloging to the romanians, it's like not recognizing that the territory of Italy that was once populated by the romans, doesn't belong to the nowdays Italy, because before it belonged to their roman ancestors.
There is no sense in your post.
The fact that Romania would get some territory who was never historically ours and not get Buceac is Incredible l.
Yeah these idiots want access to the Danube really bad
@@realWWdude546 Exactly
Hey, don't be picky😂
yea that province in north shouldn't be romanian cuz that's a bordergore, give it to Poland, Russia or Ukraine

Well, for the upper Bug region and lower Galitia at least Stephan the Great would disagree. Mostly ethnic Romanians in the past, former Volochoveni people, what Polish Chronicles named Terra Vlachorum, with their Vlach capital.
We wouldn't even dare to mention Ochacov region today, on lower Dnieper, former Moldo-Vlach fortress Vozia in the past.

German here: Hamburg is our biggest coastal city with i think like 1 or 2 million people. I live in Hamburg so I know it’s a coastal city, we even have a famous Harbour!
I think the map was referring to cities directly on the coast, rather than cities connected to the ocean/sea by river estuaries. Hence why cities like Antwerp and London were also not included.

The Volvo cars are the only reason North Korea and Sweden has embassy's, because someone needs to remind North Korea and be there for when the decide to pay up.

nope all of the uks nukes are in Scotland stored at Coulport base and the submarines are based at Faslane 80 on the 2 subs that are deployed at any point and the rest in storage
4:09 for Greece this is just wrong. They only consider the Central Athens administrative burrow as the entire city, even though that is just the historic limit of the city. In reality, modern Athens houses 3.5M people and urban development has reached the coast. In fact, the Central burrow of Athens is not even coastal, so this makes no sense
