I really like how they added the element gun from the comics because normally they would just use the quad blasters from the mcu and Im like for god sakes just use the element gun

It's kinda both the Element Gun and his MCU Blasters at the same time, the perfect mix of the two. My only complaint would be that they feel a bit weak in gameplay. But that can be easily solved by cranking up the damage in the Difficulty settings (and the damage enemies do so it stays balanced).
@@HA-ot6ufi heard the most fun difficulty is amping up the difficulty to the highest, but with the enemies taking tons of dmg. i always thought it was fine since some enemies need certain attacks for them to be shredded in seconds..otherwise they are bullet sponges.
Eidos really worked their magic on this one, shame it got buried by the absolute mess that Avengers ended up being. It really deserved better, it's a significantly better superhero experience than just about anything modern Marvel puts out imo

The way the game integrated music was amazing, the soundtrack playing after huddles, way it’s integrated in cutscenes and the way they used Don’t Fear The Reaper when Quill was stuck in “The Promise” was amazing
Square Enix did this game dirty with the marketing, & it coming after the Avengers game didn’t help matters. But yeah, the Guardians game was awesome & easily 2021’s sleeper hit. Hopefully Eidos Montreal can somehow give it a sequel someday. With that said, the GotG game pulls more from the comics than you might realize. A lot of lore (such as Peter’s dad being the Spatrax king J’son rather than Ego & his element guns) are pulled from the comics.
Something I really appreciate about this game is the focus on Peter Quills status as the teams leader and how that's reflected in both story AND gameplay. As much as the teams jokes and jabs at his expense, the team hold Peter to his role as the person who creates the plans, makes the final call, and keeps the team working together and focused. In gameplay, Starlord is fine but not outstanding at combat, which makes sense. He's the boring human working alongside a Galaxy feared assassin, a one-man army, a giant tree, and a minigun wielding cybernetic Raccoon. You're NOT the damage dealer; you're the leader who makes sure everyone is using their abilities to the fullest and comboing their skills together to get the most out of combat. While I'm definitely on the side that wished we could play as every guardian, I am glad that there was a thought and purpose behind making Peter Quill the only playable character.
I love the game it had passion and heart . One of the most underrated games from this generation so far. however it would’ve been a lot better if they made us play as all 5 guardians instead of jsut one character.
I think the command system works at making you feel like you’re part of an actual *team* and you’re making everyone work together or else you won’t be able to win a fight
I loved playing this game, it made me wish that Avengers was more of a single player narrative focused game without all of the live-service elements. I feel both games would have succeeded more as a result.
One more good thing about GOTG is the flarking loading screens... 1st thing I didn't like in the Avengers is the loading screen before every mission begins even in single player too
This was actually the Patreon review I was waiting to get posted, because hearing that you and Suzi liked it encouraged me to pick up the game, and had a really good time with it. Kinda wish you mentioned the soundtrack too with "Starlord" being an in-universe rock band that has their own songs. "Zero to Hero" was my favorite. The use of licensed tracks I also appreciated because while they weren't used in pivotal moments, You make those pivotal moments in battle by huddling up. Getting your team together and pumping them up to kick some ass while Hit me with your best shot or Take on Me plays is something that feels satisfying to do on a player level than seeing it at any movie.

The bit about combat requiring you to use allies as sort of an assist to do certain abilities reminds me a lot of the combat in Tales of Arise. It also has the massive issue (in boss fights at least) of waiting forever for the cooldown to refresh before you're able to do anything.
I love this game so much. Best superhero game in a long time and probably my favorite overall take on the guardians (yes more than the movies that I also love)

Ok so, I saw alot of people loving this game but their only complaints is that "you can only play as Peter Quill/Star-Lord but not others (Rocket, Groot, Drax & Gamora". To me, the original mechanics are better, it has a unique game controls which you should lead your team as Peter Quill. Not only that, but at least Peter will get more attention than what he already gets. From what I noticed, most people know & love the members of the Guardians alot and alot more than their leader, Groot was famous because of MCU & Baby Groot, Drax is famous because of Dave Bautista & "invisible memes", Rocket Raccoon because he stands out the most (he's actually the most popular of them) and Gamora because of Zoe Saldana & MCU. Star-Lord is famous, but not that high much of a popularity, which is surpirising for a main & essential character not to be really famous. So if there is like a switch character button, they all will steal the spotlight from Quill, again. Star-Lord is my favorite member and I'm so glad they adapted him from the comics so well. Drax beated Thanos, 4 members of the Guardians struggled against Drax alone, and Mantis solos him in 1 minute & seconds. 3. Just make Fin Fang Foom look more powerful by giving actual after-damages to the group. I was excited to see him extremely powerful after hearing Drax's lines about FFF, and a bunch of heroes easily defeated him with medium effort. 4. Thanos' bad design, which is self-explanatory. Overall, I rate this game a 9.8/10, best game in my opinion. Great character portrayal & development, amazing mechanics & functions, really good world-building (which most games suck at), and most importantly (for me), an amazing plot & mindblowingly good storytelling.
I was unable to finish this game on game pass (school got in the way) but this game was amazing! It really does take advantage of the fact that games are an interactive medium. My favorite part was the "Dont worry, Be Happy" section when you gotta get the lama to chew on the wires.
Gave it a try when it got to GamePass and I had a blast with it. Wasn't expecting anything from it because of the avengers and ended up finishing the game in a weekend.
Its horrible to replay if you want to go back to find missing collectables and you have to go through 20 minutes of unskippable dialogue and scripted events
A fun single-player game with great humour that doesn't take >50 hours to finish. Too bad the technical aspects weren't quite there at launch (60fps with >1080p resolution on consoles).
Gotta say, this game was a huge surprise for me. I expected nothing and I instead got a rip roaring adventure during a down part of my life. A good time to be had.
This game makes me think than Square Enix should have left Eidos Montreal make a Final Fantasy game, at least a Spin off like FF type 0. Even I would say if Star Lord had better combat on his own, this game could have a better combat than FF7 remake.
Oh cool! So it's like how Onimusha 4 where you can direct your teammates. That's really neat. I think it's funny that personal development means QUAD DAMAGE. Glad you liked this one Charlie. I'm always skeptical of license tie in games.
This game was honestly incredible. The relationships and dialogue between the Guardians is the main thing I loved about Gunn’s films, and this game carried that same feel over. It’s a shame that this game got overlooked upon release. I’m gonna say it had a lot to do with the absolute dumpster fire that was the Avengers game, and people didn’t wanna risk getting burned again. But this game being single player only was a big plus for me, and the fact that it was a narrative driven experience. The combat was a little repetitive but not enough to take the fun away from it. And the soundtrack was great, something we’ve come to expect from Guardians adaptations now, so good music is a must have. Love the 80s rock vibe this game has. I hope to see a sequel to this game in the future. This and Insomniac’s Spider-Man are the best Marvel games I’ve played in a long time.
Picked it up for 12 euros and I found myself so invested in the characters and the dialogue which normally is the last thing I care about I normally skip through dialogue if I don’t care from the start great game
I wanted to say "It's probably hard to make a game that's both replayable and has those slow walk-and-talk moments for the story." But that's probably not true. And even if - just add a "skip to gameplay" button or something.
At the time of release this game was struggling to run on a PS4 and full price, so I never picked it up. At this point the price is a lot more reasonable for a one-run-through sorta game that's only got what seems like pretty passable gameplay. I still haven't bought a PS5 because of the high price point and a lack of really enticing exclusives, but I think this year might be the year. FF16 is looking pretty promising and crossgen titles like RE4 Remake are really no longer up to par on the previous gen versions. When I do get one, I'll hopefully have a pretty good time going through Guardians of the Galaxy. I hope that new movie is good, too. I've been super tuned out of MCU since Endgame but I would like to see the finale of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Well I'M convinced. ❤ This is on PS Plus right now so I'll be picking it up ASAP! And then I'll play it a few weeks later, but have my friend make the dialogue/story choices so see what they choose 🙂
The guardians game is incredible and deserves a sequel and also a prequel to see how the mushroom space war happened And how Thanos,Nebula and others characters died And maybe show more of the origins of Gamora and Nebula, the story of Drax and his family and Rocket Raccon + also show the origin of the group And have more heroes In the team like: Nova,Beta Ray Bill and Silver Surfer along with several villains in the Nova troop archives Who did not appear until the Villains of the films and in the scene after the credits the Annihilation Saga Happen and be presented or... Galactus and the Celestials with the cosmic Entities would be a great threat to the universe and the earth 🤔🤯😎👍 like and Bye!
The combat is fun but could be a lot more fun with some changes, one is the cooldowns as you mention and the controls are another, and some rebinds are not enough.
I just finished the game and I was surprised at how good it was. The combat while simple was pretty fun, the team huddles never got old for me and the dialogue sometimes made me prefer the versions of these characters over the movie ones. One of my favourite things the game did was "breaking the 4th wall". For example if you entered the wrong passcode on the ship too many times Rocket would get annoyed and do it himself. Stuff like that really surprised me.
I’m not sure it rose up to good, but it’s definitely interesting. I’d definitely like to see someone with a better handled on action gameplay do something similar to the team up stuff this game tried. Star-Lord’s gameplay is so build around his guns it’s odd they went with a lock-on system as opposed to normal third person shooting. I could get it if you had the kind of moment options something like Wet has. But it’s like they were trying to make a DMC style action game focused on guns and downplayed melee combat. The cooldown system also really sucked. Would’ve been much better if he used meter like Dragon’s Dogma...which is something that can be said about most every action game with cooldowns. It is a very nice looking good. Has a nice presentation to the whole thing. I did find it annoying how hard it was to hear the radio in the spaceship.
I skipped this because of the Avengers game, but seeing it now and trying the Switch cloud demo, I'm definitely intrigued. Will have to pick up a cheap copy one day
I'm on my second playthrough now, and I have to say that for me, I love playing through it a second time. There was enough dialogue that I don't even remember half of it, so playing through it again doesn't feel very boring, it is fun.
You know I still forgot that this game even existed and the only time I remembered it very briefly was when some V tubers I follow while one of them I follow and the other 1 I occasionally check on her stuff we're playing it. Other than that I went back to forgetting about this game again and went back to my favorite Marvel hero which is spider man at least in the games.
What I love that Edios Montreal did for the GotG game was put in the same amount of attention to detail to the design of the game as they have the past two Deus Ex titles. Albeit two different game genres on their own, it's a nice sweeping touch of Edios to continue taking the lessons they've learned in previous titles to flesh out their games further each time. Even if they didn't have to inherently do so for a licensed Marvel title they could've easily phoned in.
The game was alright. I like the level design on each of the planets you visit, but the combat is very simple and repetitive at times. Overall it’s an okay game.
Really good game, just wish it was like ratchet and clank where you can travel to certain planets and returned to them if you want, just a little more open world would have made the game a little longer to my liking, was a phenomenal game, with great story, just wished it could have stretched out a little longer
I am not a big fan of Space Sci-fi kinda genre especially where you have a walking tree and Talking Racoon but GoTG is something different.. both the movies and the game .... Man I am just in love with this ❤❤❤
This game discounted very quickly so I bought it only a month or two after release. I really enjoyed it. The combat could have been developed further but the presentation and story were fantastic and I ended up actually enjoying this iteration more than the MCU version. Gamora in particular is far better than her MCU counterpart. I agree that the way it's constructed makes it a not particularly enticing replay proposition but it's now been 18 months since I played it and I can't remember much of the detail so maybe I'll give it another spin soon.
The only downside is the lack of replay ability. Combat needs improvement but definitely still fun Imo. The story though is so overwhelmingly brilliant. It will make you laugh and cry. Dealing with intelligent humour and a really heart wrenching topic that will touch all of us in some way. If this game doesn’t get a sequel it’s a crime
People keep saying that it was good, and it seems like something I'd jive with. It's too bad it fell right into my "fuck it, I have a big backlog. It's getting my FOCUS" era. It'll probably be a few years until I try it, but I have time.
I may be the only one, but I love the gameplay. It isn't a cookie cutter action game, it's a unique and fun way of handling battles. Making Star Lord the weakest character understandably turns some people off, but I love having to juggle the other guardians and doing combos with their movies.
I loved everything about this game, except for the combat. I found fighting a complete slog, but managed to somehow finish it anyway for everything else it does right.
I recently tried to replay this game after watching the third movie and.... holy shit the crashing issue is even worse than ever. I played for 30 mins and got 3 crashes. One was when I was literally choosing the difficulty in the main menu. Not sure about other versions but that's a xbox series x copy. Still.... I played it back when I could, and it was an amazing game, wouldn't be against seeing them try again.
Damn. That sucks to hear, dude. I played through on Xbox One with Game Pass, and didn't experience a single crash. Wonder if that version of the game is just plain unstable.
I was sold on the DMC-looking meter during combat, but the game instantly lost me with all those unskippable scripted segments. It's just too much of a deal-breaker for me.
You fight space wizards as a talking raccoon makes sarcastic jokes all while listening to 80s hits on your Sony Walkman. In short the game is flarking awesome.
I feel like the game would’ve been successful if it were more of its own thing ,because everybody knows guardian of galaxy so everybody would probably gonna judge it on the movies alone and not the game itself
It's kind of hard to distinguish it creatively from the movies. Gunn's depiction of these characters and their world is the definitive one. The studio did a good job at capturing that depiction while making it unique enough to stand on its own.
Really enjoyed Guardians the first time through, but the Sony first party-esque walk & talk sections really killed the game for me on my second playthrough.
1st play through, just got to chapter 3: there were already some moments where I actually laughed out loud. It might be recency bias after watching Vol 3 but, I think I’ll like this game. Not bad for $20 so far.

I hear you friend
Same I was very impressed with this game
This game makes me think than Square Enix should have left Eidos Montreal make a Final Fantasy game, at least a Spin off like FF type 0. Even I would say if Star Lord had better combat on his own, this game could have a better combat than FF7 remake.
This game isn't based on the MCU versions. It's based on the re-launched comics that started shortly after the MCU version, but they're not the same.
Hey TGBS. You ever gonna look at Ultrakill? Aka Devil May Quake?
My only real problem was the music. That soundtrack was a little lacking in comparison to the movie, but it probably has a smaller budget
It's so damn fun! Several jokes made me laugh...
Idk if I should feel guilty to allowing drax to chuck rocket across the canyon 🤣
Oh cool! So it's like how Onimusha 4 where you can direct your teammates. That's really neat.
I think it's funny that personal development means QUAD DAMAGE. Glad you liked this one Charlie. I'm always skeptical of license tie in games.
played this when it first came out but probably won't run through it again for another year or so
I didn't have time to finish it through game pass, but it was really good!
Great game, cried at some really sad scenes and never got to complete it because I lost the disc to the game and I blame that on my brothers
One of the very few games with constant banter that I actually really like.
Bite sized marvel video games with 7/10 combat/gameplay and an enjoyable story is something I miss nowadays.
bout ready to play this on PS+plus+. didn't want to buy it but really wanted to play!
The guardians game is incredible and deserves a sequel and also a prequel to see how the mushroom space war happened And how Thanos,Nebula and others characters died And maybe show more of the origins of Gamora and Nebula, the story of Drax and his family and Rocket Raccon + also show the origin of the group And have more heroes In the team like:
Nova,Beta Ray Bill and Silver Surfer along with several villains in the Nova troop archives Who did not appear until the Villains of the films and in the scene after the credits the Annihilation Saga Happen and be presented or... Galactus and the Celestials with the cosmic Entities would be a great threat to the universe and the earth 🤔🤯😎👍 like and Bye!
I really enjoyed this game! The beginning is kinda slow, but it picks up
Did you do Sifu already, GB?
The combat is fun but could be a lot more fun with some changes, one is the cooldowns as you mention and the controls are another, and some rebinds are not enough.
I just finished the game and I was surprised at how good it was. The combat while simple was pretty fun, the team huddles never got old for me and the dialogue sometimes made me prefer the versions of these characters over the movie ones.
One of my favourite things the game did was "breaking the 4th wall". For example if you entered the wrong passcode on the ship too many times Rocket would get annoyed and do it himself. Stuff like that really surprised me.
Our boi taking advantage of the movie coming out to try and get the most of the algorithm 👌 smart
I think this game was my favourite superhero game ever
This game ngl was pretty good, i hope eidos montreal gets a chance to make a sequel
I really enjoyed the story in this one, gameplay got a bit repetitive but the story and game overall were great!
Seeing this game makes me wish the Mass Effect series was given to Eidos Interactive.
This game honestly feels like you’re inside the MCU movie, and I’m not using hyperbole when I say that ❤
I'd say it's much better than the MCU's Guardians.
Loved this gave, it was a great ride.
Short and sweet nice
Plays like Marvel's Avengers campaign, which was good.
Game was pure comfort tbh
I gotta give this game a chance.
here's hoping eidos's next big project is as dope as this one if not even better
A Guardians game similar to X-Men Legends where each of them is playable coupled with the same high quality writing would be *chefs kiss*
Beter then the movies. Loved all characters. Man this team was funny. Loved the story as well.
Need to replay it sometimes
The game was alright. I like the level design on each of the planets you visit, but the combat is very simple and repetitive at times. Overall it’s an okay game.
Really good game, just wish it was like ratchet and clank where you can travel to certain planets and returned to them if you want, just a little more open world would have made the game a little longer to my liking, was a phenomenal game, with great story, just wished it could have stretched out a little longer
This is genuinely such a good game that I constantly forget about
THIS WAS POSTED YESTERDAY?!?
I love this bloody game. It's such a blast.
I am not a big fan of Space Sci-fi kinda genre especially where you have a walking tree and Talking Racoon but GoTG is something different.. both the movies and the game .... Man I am just in love with this ❤❤❤
In any case I'm glad Eidos is free from the Square Enix capeslop mines and Deus Ex 5 is already in development
But they wont work on gotg 2
There was a frickin’ game, what the shit, most of the movies I’ve watched never had a game😲
Very good game. I enjoyed very much. I want more !
I loved everything about this game, except for the combat. I found fighting a complete slog, but managed to somehow finish it anyway for everything else it does right.
This game is what avengers should have been and financially failed because of what avengers was.
This game was done soooooo dirty it’s insane
im waiting for a sequel men 😩
You fight space wizards as a talking raccoon makes sarcastic jokes all while listening to 80s hits on your Sony Walkman. In short the game is flarking awesome.
Very underrated game. Game was top tier
@@AimForMyHead81 there was that one stand alone cameo of them in that Spider-Man cartoon, so I think it could still work on its own
Really enjoyed Guardians the first time through, but the Sony first party-esque walk & talk sections really killed the game for me on my second playthrough.
This is one of the few pieces of media to make me laugh out loud
Found it for 10 bucks on xbox one recently. Not the greatest version of the game but it will serve nicely :)
1st play through, just got to chapter 3: there were already some moments where I actually laughed out loud. It might be recency bias after watching Vol 3 but, I think I’ll like this game. Not bad for $20 so far.
oooo i loved this
