Hey, heroes! I'm streaming on Twitch again this weekend! On Saturday I'm continuing my very first playthrough of Final Fantasy II, then on Sunday, I'll be finishing Lego Marvel Avengers! www.twitch.tv/merrymarvelite
I fell in love with Exiles and have re-read it a few times. Funny enough, I was completely unaware of Mimic's main timeline adventures until I watched this video lol
I always understood MIMICS exhausting/tragic story his powers reflect his identity crisis, morality, and how his powers constantly top out he gets too OP goes insane then exile….. In EXILEs his character works and is the hero he always strived for because they are existing outside of time &space curing him of his crisis’, his powers are regulated no fear of burn out …. Basically the MIMIC powers mimics constantly where as the Exile Mimic just has to be MIMIC
Mutant or not I think you hit the nail on the head. Xavier and the mutants at large consider him one of their people. He fought, bled and sacrificed for them even if he didn't always make the right choice. Even if he is just a regular superhuman he's stood by the mutants when the going got rough and that means they stand with him back.
I have thought of Mimic as the forgotten X-Man, but it seems as though he has had something of a reneasance in recent years. I have often wondered if he was the inspiration for the characters and powers of Rogue and Taskmaster. RED NORVILLE needs a video , please. As always, MAKE MINE THE MERRY MARVELITE!!!
I didn't realize Mimic was around in the main 616 so long. And I know that 616 is the focus of the channel, but it would have been cool of you mentioned his variant on The Exiles.
First off, I discovered your channel a few days ago and I've been watching a ton of your videos. I like how you go over obscure but cool characters such as "The Mimic" I never knew this much about him. Also thanks for the Guardians of The Galaxy vid. I like the movies but whenever I hear the name I think of The 70's/early 80's Team.
I was always a fan of Mimic, even when my only knowledge of him was a cameo appearance in an issue of What If. I'm also a fan of his Earth-12 incarnation from Exiles. Also, if Mr. Sinister can be considered a mutant without actually being born as such, so can Mimic. Ditto for Franklin Richards, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver
Marvel should have just have a category of artificial or latent mutants, that sometimes have powers from xgenes or maybe even include inhuman genes. Mimics powers seem to fall in line with being an artificial or latent mutant because some external stimulation trigger a latent mutation. That would better explain characters like Mimic, Mr Sinister, Children of Tomorrow, Ms Marvel.
I just recently heard about this character from the podcast Cyclops Is Waiting For Me, which only covers the animated X-Men, and some mentions that the character Morph there might've taken some story beats from this guy in the comics.
What made MIMIC such a bad ass is he could just steal your powers standing right next to you, at one point he defeated the whole X-MEN team. I know Morph was created for the show but was he more like Mystique in powers?
A friend of mine Jeff’s older brother has a copy of the Marvel Universe Handbook of the dead and inactive, and it was published after mimic had died when he did, and I found out about how Mimic came back through a article in a Wizard magazine later, and so did Jeff, and that comic had Mimic listed in there with his origin and everything, and again how died, and again this was written after he had died, and this was before marvel brought him back later on, and I have seen the UA-cam video of the comic where Ahab speared what he thought was cyclops, but I read on Mimic’s details on the marvel comics database about him, and was revealed on there💁🏻♂️.
Can you do history of the A-Force, U-Foes, Excalibur team, the Ultimates team, Starjammers, Alpha Flight, the Annihilators, the Invaders, the Squadron Supreme, Doom Maidens, the Midnight_Sons, Young Avengers, Dark Avengers, Masters of Evil, the Thunderbolts and the Champions?
Can you do history of the Beyonder, Crossfire, Living Laser, Iron Monger, Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, Whiplash, Ultimo, Darkhawk, Union Jack, Annihilus, the Badoon and the Broods?
Always liked Mimic. In my personal Marvel stories that I have written that will never see light of day, Mimic is a top guy. He's actually one of the only survivors after the X-Bomb. 😂
Can you do origin of the Brood, the Gladiator, Hyperion, Star-Splendor, Havok, Vulcan, Jackal, Stingray, Quasar, Squirrel_Girl, Ultimus, Kly'bn, Kitty Pryde, Yotat, Dr.Faustus, Annihilus and Tryco Slatterus the Champion of the Universe?
Born a mutant? No. Turned into a mutant or at least has enough mutant DNA to be recognised as one? Yes. I didn't know much about Mimic before this video, but now I kinda love him as I have a soft spot for fusion character.
Can you do history of the characters mentioned in this video? How many Marvel characters is similar to Mimic besides Super-Adaptoid? Can you do history of Super-Adaptoid?
I felt like Mimic could have had his own comic series like Taskmaster. One idea that I would like is if he had to fight someone stronger than himself and he would have to take a beating to eventually copy his opponents power and mix it with the strength he already has to beat them. His powers also aren't strictly bound to Mutants. He's been known to copy powers from beings like the Hulk, Thing and I believe Spider-Man so he could expand his arsenal
How long till you finish doing White Tiger: legacy of the Tiger by doing the history of Ava Ayala White Tiger who's the daughter of Hector Ayala? Can you do the history of Intelligencia in honour of the She-Hulk Disney Plus show?
Almost the first shapeshifter it's a shame that Disney just can't get it right stories like these could carry the real X-Men through and through and if the current comic book Developers on completely insane as well
Are you going to do history of Ironheart, M'Baku, Namora, Attuma and Shuri as the Black Panther since they played a major role in the Black Panther Wakanda Forever movie?
Can you do origin of the Grim Reaper, Quicksilver, Devondra, Sentry, Mr Immortal, Captain Universe, Dreadknight, Deathcry, Blizzard, Starhawk, Flerken, Whirlwind, Chemistro, Whiplash, Ronan the Accuser, Ego the Living Planet, the Living Tribunal and Palibok the Power Skrull along with Avenger-X and the Protector?
Mimic would be a great intro villain for MCU X-MEN. Basically a Criminal Mystery/Drama where he would commit crimes with the powers he copied, drawing attention to super heroes. This forces the X-men to emerge to neutralize him but not without ushering in anti-hero sentiment. A political drama could be tied with Captain America where Mutant Registration Act is introduced with Boliver Trask getting the contract for initiation of the Sentinel program.
Was the Mystique in Wolverine and the X-Men actually Mimic? It was weird that the one that looked like Mystique can not only look like the X-Men but can also mimic their powers.
I thought in 1995, he was retconned into being a mutant in old issue of X-force. Also, the version that served in the Exiles. Maybe I'm just old and imagining some Mandela Effect :)
Makes me think about Bruce Banner hes a Mutant even before ge became the Hulk but was tge result if his father who expramented on his self and passed down to Bruce.
Right... So Xavier allowed him to stay on Krakoa but not Franklin Richards? I guess his powers were too useful to not include him, while still being weak to mental domination. As long as he's not copying Emma Frost's diamond form anyway.
Mimic, maybe not a mutant, but his abilities are somewhat a mutation of something overly different. Perhaps there's something involved in his father's work from an alien source to his powers, which could explain his powers? There are a race that mimics dna of humans' abilities, and some gain special abilities from science and mimic four individuals' powers and create a super powerful alien called Super Skull. So maybe Mimics' father uses Skulls dna and formed a chemical that somehow developed a mutation in Mimics' body it is possible that his has limited shape shifting abilities and never knows this, and due to his potential mutant dna a different evolutionary trigger has merged him with a Skull dna, plus something else has to come. A surprising evolutionary leap of a new chapter of alien human dna and mutation. Mimics is a walking dna laboratory?
I had this friend who liked comics like me... he said Mimick is not a mutant. I say he is. Rogue is a mutant, he is they got the similar powers. How is her a " power" yet his not
Actually you both are wrong. Mimic has been retconned to a mutant. Mimic is a mutant with the power of mimicry like Sync and Gideon the external. Secondly Rogue is not a mimic and does not have the same powers as Mimic, Sync or Gideon. Rogue is a mutant that absorbs life force, traits, characteristics and pysche of a living being. This is not power mimicry

Can You Do A Mantis Episode Next Time? Just A Question.
Can you do an episode on Forget me not?
I heard of him a few times before minus his origins.
Thanks
“ Exiles” and Mimic in particular was an excellent book. They really made him the character he should be in the main universe.
I fell in love with Exiles and have re-read it a few times. Funny enough, I was completely unaware of Mimic's main timeline adventures until I watched this video lol
He was really good during the Onslaught story when he was overpowered and hiding in the Arctic where he couldn’t hurt anyone.
I also have the original Exiles run!
Agreed, it was an amazing series.

Even if he is just a regular superhuman he's stood by the mutants when the going got rough and that means they stand with him back.
Always loved Mimic. When my daughter was young we used to play a game we called mimick. We each picked five mutants powers and battled 🤣

I love Mimic. 1 of my favorite C stringed characters
I might put him down to D lol
They really haven’t used him properly. His power set is kinda OP
I loved him in Exiles
Thank you for creating this video; the Mimic is my favorite Silver Age X-Man
Would love a Rick Jones episode
….seriously; I always wondered how he was Captain America’s partner/Hulk’s partner/OG Captain Marvel’s partner & ROMs partner..
Would be nice to see Mimic and Michael Pointer regularly in an X-Title book.
If I remember correctly House Of X did say Mimic is a mutant when he was mentioned that he and Synch could replace one of Five members if necessary
Exactly. Whoever made this video did not do his research
See, this is why accident-prone people shouldn't be left alone in other laboratories. 🤣
Word..ha
Been an X-fan since the 70s and didn't know the Mimic's backstory was this detailed, complex and convoluted.
Wow.😊
DAMN!!! My guy made the Mimic interesting! Strong work, perfectly done.
Morph was an adaptation of long forgotten X-Man, Changeling.
Thank you @@AgentNevets
I’m reading Exiles & like a lot of the characters, Mimic especially.
I wish you'd have mentioned Mimic in The Exiles book.

If he didn't carry the X-Gene before, he most certainly does now.
Always liked Mimic. In my personal Marvel stories that I have written that will never see light of day, Mimic is a top guy. He's actually one of the only survivors after the X-Bomb. 😂
Thanks for the amazing video ❤
Love that old school artwork❤
😮 he's basically The precursor of Taskmaster
Can you do origin of the Brood, the Gladiator, Hyperion, Star-Splendor, Havok, Vulcan, Jackal, Stingray, Quasar, Squirrel_Girl, Ultimus, Kly'bn, Kitty Pryde, Yotat, Dr.Faustus, Annihilus and Tryco Slatterus the Champion of the Universe?
O wow, that's insane I never knew he existed. Thanks for the info on him
So they used Mimic powers to enhanced future senitels shown in the X-men movie "Future PAst".
Born a mutant? No.
Turned into a mutant or at least has enough mutant DNA to be recognised as one? Yes.
I didn't know much about Mimic before this video, but now I kinda love him as I have a soft spot for fusion character.
Altered human according to the Marvel TTRPG published by TSR in the 80s
Can you do history of the characters mentioned in this video?
How many Marvel characters is similar to Mimic besides Super-Adaptoid? Can you do history of Super-Adaptoid?
Awesome job as always! How about long shot.
This character has such a tragic history!
This video is awesome! I always wondered who this guy was when I was a kid.
Mimic has had it pretty rough.
Giving him the mutant respect is the least we can do for the guy.
'THIS CHANNEL IS EXCELSIOR' 👍 ..
How long till you finish doing White Tiger: legacy of the Tiger by doing the history of Ava Ayala White Tiger who's the daughter of Hector Ayala? Can you do the history of Intelligencia in honour of the She-Hulk Disney Plus show?
Anyone remember Logans best friend morph from the 90s tv show?
Copycat, Morph, Synch, Ch, Mystique.
Awesome review man
I wonder if any mutants get there powers from farting. Who knows that flask could of been a fart inside.
Mimic is a Mutant as stated in House of X #5
YESSS I love Mimic
Norman Osbourn got the sickest waves ever.
Hes a mutant now.
Always loved Calvin & hopefully(doubtful) they give him the zhine he truly deserves!
I cant believe that with the thousands of comic books i have read, i have never come across this guy before. 😮
Super Adaptoid = Amazo.
Love Mimic
Ghost Rider Danny Ketch, please, if you haven't already done it. 🙏
What do you think is the best thing about Mimic? Which one of the powers he copied do you think is the best?
I Love Mimic and sad to hear he's a Non-Mutant when imo I think he still is but eh who would I know when Marvel say's so? lol
Mimic Rules
Wow, I haven’t seen this character since I was a kid in the 90’s. 🤔
Theres actually a bunch of non mutant xmen....
Do Spitfire next!
Since you did the History of the Mandarin and Fin_Fang_Foom, can you do history of Ultimo as well as the Shang-Chi villain known as the Death_Dealer?
I had forgotten all about Mimic
You should do an episode about the marvel character slapstick
Mutates should also be able too join the x men, like they join avengers ranks.
He's in the realm of spider-man i guess, getting powers through random circumstances

I only knew the old Lee / Kirby Mimic.
The list of non-mutant X-Men is at least 10 or 11 at this point. It's like doing a video about Nightcrawler and calling him "The Blue One".
Loved Mimic
Y’know, Mimic would make a good ally to Mister Sinister.
This was sweet 🎂
Awesome
Was the Mystique in Wolverine and the X-Men actually Mimic?
It was weird that the one that looked like Mystique can not only look like the X-Men but can also mimic their powers.
I thought in 1995, he was retconned into being a mutant in old issue of X-force. Also, the version that served in the Exiles. Maybe I'm just old and imagining some Mandela Effect :)
They should have Mimic be the "Joker" version of Mr. Sinister
Thanks
Which one of the powers of the founding members of the X-Men do you think suited Mimic? Besides The X-Men, Which team was Mimic the best in?
Oh Mimic is from New Jersey, where I'm from by the way! 👍
What would happen if Mimic tried to copy the powers of X-Men villains like Master Mold, Nimrod, Mojo, Apocalypse and Mister Sinister?
Hmm. Since Mimic has spent time around Moira...does he unknowingly have her ability?
How did he mimic the adamantium claws? That isn’t a natural physical attribute of Wolverine’s
Listen you....😊
The Claws of Wolverine are natural. The Adamantium Bonding is not .
Claws are!
Did Mimic appear in any of the X-Men animated movies or TV Shows?
Makes me think about Bruce Banner hes a Mutant even before ge became the Hulk but was tge result if his father who expramented on his self and passed down to Bruce.
Beast non mutant x man too
What would happen if Mimic tried to copy the luck powers of Domino or the Phoenix Force itself?
Isn't there a variation of Mimic who's more beloved?
Right... So Xavier allowed him to stay on Krakoa but not Franklin Richards? I guess his powers were too useful to not include him, while still being weak to mental domination. As long as he's not copying Emma Frost's diamond form anyway.
Mutant is as Mutant does. His powers come from mutation even if the ability to absorb those powers doesn't.
I think we need a video detailing the original 5 X-Men's time in the present day Marvel Universe.
Never heard of the mimic
Mimic, maybe not a mutant, but his abilities are somewhat a mutation of something overly different. Perhaps there's something involved in his father's work from an alien source to his powers, which could explain his powers? A surprising evolutionary leap of a new chapter of alien human dna and mutation. Mimics is a walking dna laboratory?
Marvel history can be so complicated lol. Changes and redos all over the place.
I never liked how marvel tries to differentiate those who are mutated from those born with mutations. Both are equally mutants.
He desperately needs a Marvel Legend
I had this friend who liked comics like me... he said Mimick is not a mutant. I say he is. Rogue is a mutant, he is they got the similar powers. How is her a " power" yet his not
Mutants are born with powers. He got his thru an accident, hence NOT a mutant.
Retcons are just shitty writers not paying attention or changing things to fit their own narrative regardless of what has been established.
I'm pretty sure he is a mutant. This was addressed in Excalibur.
What do you think Mimic would have been like if he was born a Mutant and stayed with the X-Men?
But mimic confirmed to be a mutant
When?
@@sophiawilson8696 it's was confirmed in house of x by Jonathan Hickman and storm is officially omega level mutant as well
Also it's was 3 years ago
Wonder where hes been in krakoa
Fucxx Krakoa!
