DayZ standalone takes place sometime between 2015- and the current day, Arma 2 DayZ presumably took place around the time it originally came out, so you’re not that far off lol.
I'm glad someone finally made this, when I did the chernogorsk side by side it seemed really popular and I didn't want to put in the leg work to see the rest of the map.
There’s a community made map on Arma 3 workshop called Chernarus 2020 and it’s a combination of the two maps in the video, Chernogorsk remains relatively the same without the additional apartments around it but it does have Svetloyarsk and Novodmitrovsk added to it, and it’s also my fav map to play on in Arma 3
started playing the dayZ mod back in summer of 2012 when i saw seannanners and goldglove play it. built my first PC just to play dayZ. playing the standalone to this new. beautiful to see how far this game has come in terms of detail and immersion... and unforseen glitches that kill you lol. still, my favorite of all time
This is beautiful to me in a very strange way. I've been playing this game for so long, and watching content about it even longer. This game has seen me grow so much, and, in turn I've seen the game grow immensely as well. The road has been bumpy as fuck, but DayZ has come so far. And we've all come so far along with it...
I agree 100%. I think most people have nostalgia over the mod because it was like exploring a whole new world whereas now you can drop most of us players anywhere on the map and we automatically know where we are at based on the terrain alone. I think a lot of SA haters soured on the game around .61 when they scrapped the old engine and basically went back to square one. It did suck, and I can’t be mad at those who gave up around then, but they really did a great job at correcting the course of the game and a lot of people didn’t give it a fair shake afterwards.
Why is it called "skyrim mountain" at the end ? it's Pic kozlova if I remember well very good video, it's interesting to see how the map was shaped differently but still keeping the same spirit as the verst chernarus version
Old Dayz looked, sounded and played out better. Especially the legacy gunplay which was a masterpiece. The current game gunplay is just an another poor easy pointy shooty. Old Dayz gameplay had more immersion, adventure and interaction. The game mechanically runs much better now but the soul of Dayz was stolen from us in 2018.
This is crazy talk. Frame drops in towns was a very real problem, and at NWAF if someone came within render distance you would get frame drops notifying you of another players presence. Additionally, I do not miss the days of random broken legs for the crime of walking over rocks or climbing ladders that was common in the mod.
@@apersonontheinternet8006 I agree with the points of frame drops and random broken legs. As I say the game is more stable now. Although the way the actual entire game was changed in 2018 has made it just a poor imitation of what Dayz was and was going to be.
first they had the same NWAF in dayz like in arma 2 .. it was way better in my opinion. It has less details but it gave me a better feeling of an abondon airfield!
Back in 2013, playing DayZ mod, I always thought every town had it's face, it was unique and special in structure, even if most of the buildings were of same models... One exception was Berezino. Docks side was somewhat interesting, but the whole spacing of the town and garbage layout made it probably the ugliest town in DayZ. And take a look what they did with Standalone. They turned every town into Berezino. Overloaded with crap, changed tructure, added 5000 "scyscrapers". What they did to Cherno city and NWAF is total abomination. Same thing with survival stuff vs guns. It's a strange mix of "take care of my character as if it's a 2 year old baby" and "if I kick a trash bag that's laying on the street, there's 75% chance Famas will fall out of it". They're not using their heads. Dayz was best when stuff was rare, you had 2 barracks in NWAF and 1 in NEAST, that's it. Stary sobor was somewhat viable. Later on they started adding stuff even to the old mod, some sort of expansions to the map, again - total abominations. There's fruit to words like "dont overdo it", "learn when to stop" and "just so" / "just right". A perfect example of that is the firestation. Such an iconic building in original DayZ. What did they do in standalone ? Opened every door, expanded it, ruined it's "feeling". The fact that there's a building, doesnt mean you open every door and every window. There has to be gameplay element, restrictions and "simplicity" to it. And NWAF...my god. OMFG.
graphics are literally the one objectively better thing in DayZ. You could have picked absolutely anything else and say it's better and make an argument. But graphics? Come on dude.
I like to imagine dayz takes place a few decades after arma so all the towns were reconstructed

Dayz literary has buildings made in 70s that werent in arma 2.

I wish it had the Chernogorsk revamp
Great video. Lots of nostalgia. Really do miss that view distance.

Hey nicholas these are actually really good videos, keep this kind of content up my man!
:D
You should do an updated version dude I loved this video, it brought back a lot of Arma 2 DayZ memories for me
Great video!
really has improved
Lots of arma 2 nostalgia boys, for real.
Whoever claimed A2 mod is better needs to be waterboarded in Gitmo.
Why is it called "skyrim mountain" at the end ? it's Pic kozlova if I remember well
very good video, it's interesting to see how the map was shaped differently but still keeping the same spirit as the verst chernarus version
It's just sad that in Arma 2 u can see so much farther not having the fog mess with your aim
u know the standalone was all the same with arma but got updates so it was different from arma
i really love how Chernarus changed after the Brutal Independence War.
The war didnt end before the outbreak.
Seeing the side by side comparison allows you to see the horrible blue filter DayZ forces onto players.
nice 👌
Nice
Haha 6:44 the cloud on the right side looks like a "?" hehe

i miss the greenish look of dayz, now we have blue toned fog k

Ye, but you got to like that vegetation
Would be nice to see dayz Chernarus in Arma 3. The original chernarus is kinda boring.
there are mods for that
Benja Pizarro not in the workshop. I don’t see one
@@keithmayfield5763 search it on google, its probably on armaholic
literally just get CUP lol
I'm late but there is one now, it's called Chernarus 2020, its to be found under CUP Terrains 2.0
So everything is more blurry in DayZ, just with more buildings.
Wow! Arma 2 holds its grounds even after all these years... If frame rate was higher in A2 then we wouldn't need DayZ SA.
i need to get a server of my own and make balota airfield my base that would be sick
the blue filter is so strange ! the arma version looks better to me
5:10 - definetely not "Zub Castle", it's "Black Mountain" (Чёрная Гора)
hold up one of the songs kinda sounds like minecraft lol
Funny how all the building assets are the same with little to no facelift of the textures
especially the colors and the overall lighting and view distance was better in mod , the new dayz lost atmosphere imo
I love both but I have to admit arma 2 dayz had a sort of charm to it that can't be repeated no matter what.
Why does standalone look so “blue” compared to arma 2? Which looks more earthy and dark and gritty
They really have don't alot
They really have don't alot indeed
me when they don't alot
Only difference is Arma 2 dayz is fun.
Arma 2 version was way better imo
or like the early standalone map
7six2 nah you speak truth this miss mash garbage of stand-alone sucks, cars are broken, helis don’t exist smh
@@dr.bendover3311 helis always sucked . You could fly high and derender the trees and see everyone’s base ,
DayZ if perfect with NWAF in 1.23 needs more military guns and civ too but and more military looting areas but great right now
In my opinion you shouldn’t compare a long past finished mod for a game that’s finished to a still in early access game

huh? guess nostalgia hits you hard but Dayz Chernarus is way more vast and better.
@@MedSon1002 Not to mention that the NWAF in DayZ has been changed to look more simple now, thankfully.
i prefer SA lol, mod was great but its over now get over it
Nipples
Graphics still better in Arma. best gameplay ever.. Standalone butchered it. Such a poor job. I have 10k hrs in arma 2 dayz i'm entitled lol
