      @@kev_cub2740 @Kevin Heyne that would be beautiful, but people like herself, don't change or try to, but don't. That's Why it's extremely problematic. At least, I Can look at myself in the mirror and tell myself that I fucked up. By, the sound of this lagy, all she did was play the victim card. Believe you me, I've most PROBABLY gone THROUGH worse abuse, than she's EVER endured in her lifetime, yet she GETS a massive payout by acting like a child!💯 Wtf has the world become? I'm white, so by American standards apparently I'm privileged. Well, let me fill you in about Another continent/COUNTRY, called AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺. REVERSE RACISM IS WILD AND ALIVE, IT HAS BEEN SINCE THE COUNTRY WAS RENAMED, AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺. OUR GOVERNMENT HAS PAID REPARATIONS TO ALL OF THE INDIGINOUS POPULATION (IE. ABORIGINAL PERSONS, MURRAY'S (QLD TRIBES), KOORI (VICTORIAN TRIBES) AND SO ON FOR THE OTHER STATES AND TERRITORIES IN AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺. YET, US EXTREMELY POOR WHITE PEOPLE GET NOTHING, SERVICE WISE. IF, YOU'RE ABORIGINAL ON PAPER, YOU CAN Access so much more than any White aussie can especially, an extremely poor white mother. Everyday that I go near an Aboriginal person, while minding my own business, suddenly they lose it and ATTACK me, as apparently I Said something. NOPE, they HEARD a voice Obviously, it was either in their head or They had superpower hearing, as I was never anywhere near her, until the ABUSE STARTED. Every aboriginal in Australia that I have ever come across, blames me in today's day and age, for the suffering of their ancestors. I will never understand that, as our Government gave every single aboriginal reparations. They spent MOST OF IT ON ALCOHOL (THAT'S WHY THE NORTHERN TERRITORY HAS DRY AREAS) IT'S NEEDED IMO, AS I MYSELF have been run over by my own vehicle, when a so called longtime ABORIGINAL friend Took my keys from the coffee table, I walked out when I HEARD my car start, I put myself Infront of the car, so she couldn't steal it and the nutcase ran me OVER!💯🤷 WTF. People don't change, I only HEARD the other day, that she's now in prison for Killing a man. Well she never changed and I believe I am still the same.

    Well Benjamin; I've followed the whole Evergreen self immolation from the start, and your take on it. It was clear to me from practically the beginning that it was anything but a "spontaneous" uprising. I think about a week to ten days in she began to emerge in my mind as the puppet master behind the initial protests. However... it soon became clear that what she and the students didn't realize is they had been co-opted and were being used as pawns from the very start. Basically it was all Bridges guiding an internal power grab that saw him completely remake Evergreen into his own little fiefdom. He's completely restructured the administrative apparatus to give himself sole executive authority over every aspect of what were by tradition autonomous/independent academic departments. He's purged any and all opposition and created consultive councils staffed with syncophants and loyalists. From a historical viewpoint he's re-enacted the Bolshevick takeover of Russia, complete with Menshevic purge at the end. Go back as you create your 5, or 6, or 7 part documentary and examine HIS actions at every crisis point. He fostered and encouraged all of it while piously proclaiming to support dialogue and progress. Christ he defanged the campus police at the onset to insure the unrest would continue. Continue to the point it "required" him to institute sweeping changes in the face of new challenges. Yeah, "challenges" he aided and abetted. And in the end he now presides over an Evergreen completely remade in his image. The fact that it's reputation is that of a laughingstock and rapidily going bankrupt means nothing to him. You wanna psychoanalyze motivations, start with him. He WASN'T ineffectual, he was the epitome of the strategic passive-aggressive power gamer. He didn't just survive, he thrived. In fact he played it perfectly. He so exquisitely balanced the entire shit show he couldn't be fired because no-one else would take the job. HE WON. PERIOD. FULL STOP.
    Or to quote Daniel Craig as James Bond at the end of "Skyfall"; "Last rat standing."

      I disagree. I think he ended up being overwhelmed by forces he thought he could control. Nobody in this comment thread realized it at the time and so I can’t hold it against them but the man is now stepping down. Watching him being told to put his hands down and when to go to the bathroom, at no point was he masterminding anything. He was looking out for himself, 100% CYA. He might have subsequently structured the college by hiring and firing and with policy changes but if he had even dared to disagree or refuse to implement the general outlines, or have been perceived to do so, he would have instantly been met with successful demands at his resignation. He would have almost assuredly had to resign.

    • @Obladgolated
      @Obladgolated 4 роки тому +2

      @Debra Charles I think she's experiencing the trauma of discovering that she simply can't compete in the world of ideas, that she has nothing to contribute, and that no one pays any attention to her as an intellectual or a creator. This has to be very uncomfortable for her. She has probably been given "social promotions" all her life, and actually believes the citations on her participation trophies and diplomas printed on fake parchment. Even at TESC, she wasn't measuring up, which is really quite an "accomplishment." From what I can tell, the reason she wasn't offered tenure was probably more a function of the way she treated her faculty colleagues - including by sticking them with the work she was supposed to be doing as a member of an "interdisciplinary team" for a teaching assignment - than because of any real objection to the "quality of her scholarship," which I doubt TESC faculty had much interest in critiquing, but I could be wrong about that.
      Her way of dealing with this discomfort and the existential angst it caused her has been to "re-frame" it as racism. This converts her from someone who can't cut it to someone who is being persecuted by racist bigots, a lonely hero who is the victim of the white patriarchy, no different than a slave in the deep south who was tied to a tree and whipped by the white overseer.

    OMG. That is so bizarre about the writing center. That really exposes how widespread and insidious the ideology of “inequity” has spread throughout even the academic framework of the College. It has pierced the very basic academic skills, often taught as a remedial measure, that all students need to be successful in every learning area. The most academically vulnerable students are being subjected to their educational journey being derailed by extreme misinformation. It is simply inexcusable for the College to promote such practices.

    She plays the victim card, she speaks of her anxiety, her helplessness, but anybody watching can see Lowe is a bully, a person who creates anxiety, not the one who experiences it, a person who creates stress, not the one subject to it, unless it's stress because ambition isn't being satisfied, and that's a whole other animal.
    "I am no longer afraid to express my anger," she says.
    Oh, give me a break. There's absolutely no evidence she's had any problem expressing rage.
    Set up those straw men, and knock 'em down, Sally.
    Lowe is after the levers of power...she's not anything but angry, and after the black President left, she saw a weak campus, board and president she could flip, and Bridges was and is nothing if not weak.
    Listen to her blow smoke up the students' asses right in front of the other faculty.
    This is a predator.
    Period.
    That only one spoke up against her?
    She must have laughed at how weak they were.
    Laughed. She ran every meeting, she ran every speech making protest.
    The faculty is weak, unable to stand up to this loud mouth bully.
    We leave it to Boyce to tell the complete story, and his documentary is coming.

    I used to be a teacher and I remember that temptation of being loved by students (as opposed to being respected by them, which is not always the same thing). Some of my colleagues used harsh language (like Lowe), discussed soccer games with kids and organized a lot of outside activities. Their students loved them but were unable to write a grammatically correct sentence. It's a slippery slope and I think and as an adult you're not supposed to seek validation, love and support from the students. I'm not denying Lowe's emotional intelligence and ability to ''inspire'' her students. I'm just saying that a teacher is not a best friend or a sister. You learn life lessons from a friend or a sister but they don't teach you critical thinking or art history. They don't give you assignments, grades (not even narrative grades) or anything to learn by heart. I may be wrong but in my view, you don't go to college for life lessons and therapy sessions.

    I've become a fan of these discussions. You do a great job, Ben. Paradox and blunder are hand in hand within an unchecked Narcissist. Had Hitler remained in prison, arguably, World War II would never have happened. Naima sold out cheap. Would anyone knowingly hire this troublemaker today?? $240k will run out pretty quickly and her relevancy is gone now. She'll feel the burn soon enough. If you want to keep the vacuum cleaner salesman out of your house...don't answer the door. She will ultimately go crazy not having an audience. If sensibilities reign, her best days are behind her...and better yet...behind everyone effected.

  • @zxyatiywariii8
    @zxyatiywariii8 5 років тому +21

    I wanted to say this on the livestream but it's too long, lol. Re energy -- I think what you're looking for is the balance of voltage vs amperage. Visualize it like water -- Voltage can be visualized as how MUCH electricity is flowing, amperage can be visualized as the WAY in which it's flowing. So for example: the same amount of water that can form a stalactite over aeons, could also shatter that stalactite if that same amount of water were directed at the stalactite all in one single burst.
    What worries me about Naima's penchant for maligning civility as "racist" is that civility is the way for us to channel societal change in a way that doesn't destroy innocent people in the process. And it's not a "White" thing. All my friends and family value civility, and only a few of them are White. It's actually racist of Naima to basically imply that non-White people are somehow incapable of (or burdened by) civility. WTF???

    • @ejpoleii
      @ejpoleii 5 років тому +6

      Voltage is like water pressure. Current is like water flow. Power is current times voltage. Energy is power times time. You can fill a glass with high pressure but it is hard to control and makes a mess. You can fill a glass with low pressure but it takes a long time. The trick is to find the proper balance.

    The Evergreen Debacle, and similar events, landed us with our current administration. That's a perfectly good reason to dislike and distrust someone. It's not pre-judgement then. It's retrospect, and as long as guilt isn't smeared across onto innocent people, it can't be viewed as racism.
