Brett let me have your children football papi
@@Vbytsia Don't tell my wife.
I haven't really gotten a straight specific answer. How important is the combine? I know its bigger for say cornerbacks then its for defensive tackles. Is it position dependant??
Bro ur fr the only youtuber that actually gets me hype when u upload. Before I thought my football IQ was pretty high but ur channel made me realize I still have a lot to learn 💪.
Do kyler murray
I never played football in my life but your videos let me talk and debate football with my grandpa so thank you for making videos
I'm glad you like them! I appreciate that
Enjoy that. I learned so much from my grandfather about sports in general it was a good way to connect with him. He taught me how to be handle losses and to temper my expectations for my teams.
Enjoy the time with your gramps jack, me and mine watched every Patriots game every single week while he was alive, and now I miss him alot. He appreciates you like you appreciate him too keep that in mind
I played football for 12 years but this post makes my heart feel good. Cool stuff Jack 👍🏻
This is awesome to hear. You should also check out SB nation
“Or as low as 22 to the Ravens” or as low as 64 to the Seahawks. So happy we got him!
Amen to that
Russell Wilson is awesome at passing. Metcalf and L. Jackson would have been a headches for defence.
fluff1991 Ravens dont use WR enough for Metcalf to have mattered a whole lot there.
Chaw to that
That was a great year. How many rookies did better?
Seattle was perfect for this kid. Wilson throws the best deep ball in the NFL.
Lots of 50/50 balls will land in his hands. Good pick for Seahawks
I mean if Wilson can drop dimes into Lockett's arms on go routes, just imagine when the arms are a foot higher lol. Hopefully we can design plays for Lockett to get YAC this year. I also think Baldwin and Lockett can coach Metcalf a lot on his drops since those two literally never drop balls.
"yeah"
-M. Lynch
He's a very good deep ball thrower, the only thing I see a problem with is ball positioning. I've seen Wilson throw alot of balls behind Baldwin and Lockett causing them to slow down and adjust and not be able get the run after the catch a possibly a touchdown, hopefully DK and Wilson work on that together.
@@11dmills go watch the KC game last year those are some dimes. Wilson is crazy accurate, ive seen a lot of analysts talk about some of those underthrows being on purpose to help the wr avoid a hit or make an easier catch
@@bobbymarr1297 he's definitely had some good games but I have seen him underthrow receivers with good separation and nobody in front of them and a very good chance to score. I'm a Seahawks fan too I've seen all of Russ's games since he came in the league and it's a pretty common occurrence.
Who's here after he got drafted by the seahawks?
Watched it the day brett uploaded it, back to watch it again. super glad he's comin to Seattle
Me too.
You know who else has that philosophy of focusing on what a player can do and not what he can't? Pete Carroll's Seahawks.
And Russell Wilson is one of the best deep-ball passers in the league. You're not going to see him making the kind of mistakes the Ole Miss QB does on this tape.
🖐🏻
@@NickGoesTrucking Same here, it made me think about how his value was more than I originally thought.

Thank you! It's all thanks to you guys!
He was given a shot in Seattle and look at him now. He has 900 yards and Damn near 10 TDs ...
If he had back half of his drops, he would have been so nasty statistically
@@Saixjacket Yeah, but he's still a rookie, and he's still developing. The good thing is he's on a team with stars around him to help, and a coaching staff that's very supportive of him. Even the greatest receivers of all time have drops.
@@Saixjacket he doesn't even have that many drops lol
Look at him now only through week 8 680 yards and 7 tds
And he had an amazing playoff game against the eagles
I truly believe DK will flourish with Seattle. During his press conference after drafting DK, Pete Carroll quite literally echoed Brett's motto of focusing on what the strength of their players strengths and building off of it. Wilson is a deadly deep ball thrower and DK will get plenty 1v1 chances in a run first scheme then play action. I'm stoked.
I’m pretty fucking excited to have him as a seahawk, I’m glad all those other teams passed on him, Wilson and Metcalf are going to tear it up.
Thizlam not really sounds nice but Metcalf is very overrated
great day how’s he overrated when everyone is shitting on him
Thomas the only because he can’t stay healthy people wil underate
Exactly but haters won't believe it
probably the first time i saw a curse word on YT
Looking back at this two years later you really nailed this.
I never understood why DK fell so far
That dude has the NFL in his blood. Freak of nature. Hope he gets what he deserves.
Yeah Brett is a beast! ;)
Ok I doubt you meant it this way, but "hope he gets what he deserves" just sounds like a mafia threat, and it's cracking me up.
@@timwatchesmovies Holy shit, it does.
@@timwatchesmovies It would be shame if...something happened...to his draft stock.
So did B. Perriman
This has actually aged quite well.
He's going to Seattle!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He sure is bro
Finally a potentially elite wide receiver isn't being wasted on a terrible team and is going to a team that competes.
GO HAWKS!!!
I hope he can run block
Damn is it me or did he kill this breakdown cause this man was right look at DK right now dude is talented
DK became a beast after all those years fighting King K Rool and his Kremlings
This might be the only time one can say "that aged well" non-sarcastically to a youtube video 😎
Seattle is one of the few teams that picks guys in what they can do. And doesn’t ignore them cos they slip. Kam Chancellor is the perfect example of that and so is Baldwin
Benji McCaw Don’t forget that we drafted Richard Sherman in the 5th round too, and did so because we knew he would excel in our defensive system.. We didn’t draft a guy to try and mold to fit our defensive style, we drafted a guy who already had the skill set required to succeed playing our style of defense.
As a packers fan, i could not agree more with that statement. On paper, the legion of boom didn’t have great measurables and most weren’t highly sought after but the seahawks front office drafted a group who meshed so perfectly. Which was frustrating watching the exact opposite happen to our roster starting pretty much the same year y’all beat us in the NFC championship.
Shearman was a wr in college... that's your best one. Just saying
@@evanacey1414 👍
Damnn Brett nailed this analysis
I got me a big bowl of cereal and ready to watch a Brett vid. Life is good
Say big bowl of cereal
Glad to see you evolve beyond the “ I’m a simple man I see a Brett video I hit like” I used to get so tired of you and everyone else saying that over and over again. So glad it finally isn’t popular anymore .thanks
This aged well
This video is aging extremely well.
it was always obvious DK was gonna be good !! GMs just slept on him for no reason smh
Finally someone else is recognising that Jordan Ta’amu and the scheme was a huge issue for both Metcalf and Dawson Knox.
It was Longo
Injuries hurt him too. I like Jordan Ta'amu though. I felt like they should have kept AJ on the outside in his natural position and put D.K. in the slot, he was taller and faster than linebackers
@@bestshootingbigingrimey6501 Why would you put the next Calvin Johnson lined up in the slot. If a team is playing man it doesn't matter where he would line up on the field they would move the same or a few different players to try and cover him. And watching his tape it does scream this kid needs a quarterback, this kid gets so much separation he can devour any corner or safety with size or speed. Like Brett said if you put this kid with any semi competent NFL quarterback he'd do some amazing things. Ta'amu would either never even look Metcalfs way while he's wide open or he'd follow him as his first read all the way giving full intention to the safety to make a play on the ball. He's a first read quarterback that has squandered some of the best talent to come through the NCAA in the last 2 years.
@@Hut9111 he isnt the next Calvin Johnson stop
@@donmon808 You don't know that yet....
I would love to see a video like this about Hunter Renfrow. He's like the exact opposite of Metcalf in terms of size, but still has a skill set that's allowed him to be successful in college.
Josh Sinclair I totally agree. It’s actually fascinating because if you pushed a button that produced literally the exact opposite of DK, it’s Renfrow. He has the polish and quickness to settle into soft spots in coverage, and shows fantastic concentration to catch the ball most of the time. But his ceiling is lower just because DK is an absolute monster
No sorry guys you have to have some speed to go along with the skills
His 8 years of college experience really helps
@Babatunde Ibitoye who?
This take aged like fine wine or a good 12 year Single Malt. Brett nailed this DK Metcalf evaluation better than any other I've seen.
Time of this comment: 2020 week 2, DK Metcalf has physically dominated Stephon Gilmore, defending DPOY, for 4/92/ 1 TD and a 143.8 passer rating when targeted and covered by Gilmore.
2020 week 5, DK Metcalf goes 6/93/2 with key plays on the 94-yard game-winning drive: a 39-yard 4th-&-10 conversion on the sideline whereupon he stepped out and stopped the clock, an excellent slant route to set them up at the 6, and most notably the game winning TD on 4th-&goal on a crossing route, the 3rd consecutive target from Russ. He now has at least 92 yards receiving in each of the first 5 games.
Nowadays, whenever I see some videos or clip of some show where DK MetKaf is being compared to Megatron like its some sort of brend new hot take, I always come back here to listen to the one that did it before anyone else.
Here one year after DK is a beast
Watching this video during the bye week with the Seahawks at 5-0 and you can see D.K.'s game evolving. It's almost like Schottenheimer watched this video and was like "You know, maybe the kid CAN run slants."
Being able to watch this video after watching him develop in Seattle is all the reason I need to subscribe.
He never broke 700 yards in a season in college. His rookie year he already caught 900. That's pretty exciting.
Over 1k if u count playoffs
Ole miss sucks.
Who’s here after he dropped 146 yards and a touchdown on 7 receptions in the wildcard round?
*160 yards*
I knew he had drop problems lamao
Seahawks got a steal
Yes you did, only issue is your team is not going anywhere anytime soon.

@@ap3718 Jags are gonna be a force this year bud. Finally got a legit QB and that is a game changer.
jagsfanrick yeah but Seahawks got Russell Wilson with a pretty decent line with a great run game and our defense got better this offseason

Welcome to Seattle brother!
welcome to Seattle !!
Well.....didint this age incredibly well
Now has the record for receiving yards in a playoff debut.
Brett: nails 90% of non-QB draft evaluations spot-on. (Metcalf is basically a top 5 receiver as of 2020)
Also Brett: Takes Deshone Kizer over Watson and Mahomes.
you win some you lose some
Welcome to Seattle DK!!!!
Here after his 160 yard game
As a current Ole Miss student who has been watching your videos/subscribed for 3 years, I just risked it all and watched this video in the 2nd row of my science class
Aboslutely. He needs to round out some skills and needs to be taught to maximize, but he's got great power in his first steps, and his hand fighting is so strong. I can't imagine him not drawing double coverage constantly in the NFL.
He needs a position coach that can build up how he uses his body to create space in contact. He's not bad at it, but if he gets to a Boldin or JuJu level he'd be Calvin Johnson. He'd be unstoppable.
Welcome to Seattle, DK.
Go hawks!! Who’s here after hawks drafted him lol
Hell yeah man. Go Hawks.

Literally every major outlet is comparing him to megatron and you called it 19 months ago
Seahawks' WRs don't drop the ball and with this guy's workout ethic no way they won't get him to learn to stop dropping the ball
Just watching Baldwin work and picking up pro tips... done.
that's funny. back in the hasselbeck days, i had NEVER in my life seen so many receivers on one team drop so many passes. i think hasselbeck's career numbers would show he's had the most dropped passes of any nfl QB ever
And Jerry Rice probably accounted for half of those in his one season in Seattle.
Again, so funny finding these videos years after they came out and watching you be proved correct. Great job Brett.
Ay man ive been watching for a few years now and i just want to say that your killing it! Keep up the great content.

I would be so heated if i was that corner at 2:28. INSANE PI

it was the corner who initiated contact (you can see his arms stretched out)

Wow another video from the GOAT!! :) Looking forward to watching
It's a good way to start the week, isn't it?
What’s funny is DK and AJ Brown were the 2 best rookie WR’s in 2019 and both were teammates at Ole Miss and both were chosen late in the 2nd round.
Very informative video! The 3-cone drill made me not want Metcalf, but this video convinced me that Metcalf has the tools to be a dominant receiver in the NFL. He is truly a physical specimen.
Can't wait to watch corners try to match up with this guy. He's faster, taller, stronger, and can jump higher. Our offense is gonna be fire next year. Hawks just picked up 3 deep threat WRs to add to lockett and moore. The play action is gonna be unstoppable this year. Even if DK is a bust as a WR, which I doubt, he would be perfect for special teams
Ive always remembered this video and the more i watch DK play amazong and listen to eveyone compare him to megatron i realize You’re a genius Brett!?!? You should repost this video to make up for Justin Herbert
Shout out to Brett for putting out 2 videos in 1 week! Keep up the hard work man, I appreciate every video!

Brett, I was wondering if (and why) Marshon Lattimore really fell off this year compared to his rookie year. I don’t need a full vid or anything, could you just explain if (and why) in a response to this comment. Thank You.
I can kind of explain.. basically, he didn’t fall off, but rather he wasn’t targeted as much by opposing QBs his second year. His first year, he was an unproven, rookie corner who QBs were willing to test. As he played and he was recognized as such an elite corner, QBs and offenses learned to avoid him. His INTs and stats are down this year simply because he’s avoided, not because he regressed.
@@96whalers what about the games where he was targeted and was torched?
WHATS UP thnx but his passer rating allowed us way up
Could also be the "sophomore blues" I hear about occasionally.
Brendan Fligger no just look at Alvin Kamara
I was high on Metcalf, but then I realized that he isn't very dynamic in his route running. You convinced me that he is as great as I initially thought he was
I just wish that he was able to show off that route running more often. Ugh...Phil Longo...

I always love the end of the video punch line Brett haha. As a coach and a fan of the game I enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work. If you could think about doing a series on how to teach young coaches how to analyze film more effectively at each position that would be cool!
He had me until he started covering his problem with drops ... can't run most routes and doesn't have good hands and your still vouching for him ?
wow ... ok dude
